MuricanIDIOT Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 I don't know what kind of person I'd be without Green Day, I'd probably be a clueless close minded ass hole with shitty music taste. They inspired me to play guitar, they taught me to question everything, I changed how I dressed, to listen to bands like Black Flag, The Clash, Social Distortion etc.. They basically changed my view of the whole world
dangreenday Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Billie inspired me to play a guitar when i was 10 i started im now 27 ... THANK YOU BILLIE *clap clap clap clap clap*
The Grouch is Tracy Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 In April, after seeing GD again inToronto,I went back Monday morning bright and early to my shitty job with my abusive, fucked up boss and after 9 years told her I wouldn't take her shit anymore and quit with no notice! Felt very empowered. Since I quit, one of the vets has also quit, and they have gone through three people already trying to replace me. I have decided to take the summer off, and spend some time with my husband and daughter for once. Thanks Green Day for helping me realize that I have a voice and don't deserve to be treated like shit!
belinda jane Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 i started playing bass because of mike. i mean, i don't play much of it now - but he was the reason i started. that and i seriously wouldn't be the person that i am today if it weren't for their music & lyrics. they just taught me not to give a fuck about anyone else but myself, and i had never done that before. so, THANKS GUYS!
musso_kn Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Mmm... to learn to play guitar, I guess. Plus, Billie Joe's early 90s look is part of the reason I'm getting nose piercing soon. On a deeper note, their music has been a...liberating force in my life. That doesn't have so much to do with inspiration, though.
emo potato Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 Longview is the reason I first picked up a Bass guitar. I have become more into music and less social because of that lol. I also dress differently, like other people have said. I listen to a lot of more hardcore stuff now because of discovering a chain of bands that get more and more metal starting with green day.
JesusOfChristiansSuburbia Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 So, I know this topic is kinda dead, but maybe it might come back. Green Day really just helped me realize who I am. My personality, my tastes, everything. The biggest thing they've influenced is my taste in music. I've found so many punk and rock artists because of Green Day. They're the ones who really got me into music. I remember being 11 and hearing the American Idiot album for the first time and thinking "Holy shit... They're amazing!" After that, I listened to more of their music, and my preferences just went from there. They're a big part of my life...
