.Mary. Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 Well they've inspired me to play the guitar, write my own lyrics and start my first band. They still inspire me to work hard every day to achieve what I want, never give up and after all to be myself.
dria021772 Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 They inspired me to kill a man and dump his body in the river
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 They inspired me not to let my life pass me by, and to quit talking about the things I WANT to do, and to go out and actually DO them. Or take steps towards being able TO do them. And to not be afraid to speak my mind or be myself, no matter how peculiar or fucked up people may think it is. They've also inspired me to work harder to go green, and to just try to be a good person and help as much as I can where I can- because everything counts.
Dana. Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 They've inspired me to be myself and to not be afraid of what other people think of me. They have also inspired me to be a music major. I want to go into producing bands and helping bands.
Sofouska Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 learn guitar. this is a good thread Thanks! :woot:
LauraG Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 They helped to improve my self-confidence and to stop worrying about what everyone thinks about me. They taught me to live without trying to fit in any particular group of people, just be myself. And because of them, I got some awesome tattoos also!
Annie, get your gun Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 They inspired me to accept myself the way I am, with all the good and bad things. To listen a lot of good music. And also to decorate almost my entire house gd style. From shoes, cd player, walls, books, to the fridge, phone, closet, etc... Yeah, I'm crazy 4 Green Day... so f*****g what?
Green Day Dookie Dude Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 They've inspired me to write songs and to play guitar.I forgot to add. They've inspired me too be myself and to stop trying to be like everyone else.
letterbomb_19 Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 As a Green Day fan, I´m feeling like a minority... and I´m happy with it and proud of it!!! because I know I´m not like most of the girls I know and meet every day. they look all like twins. I´m looking different and I´m happy that now I know (through GDC) other Green Day fans/freaks who love the same band... and through GDC (which I only know because of Green Day) I found a new friend Green Day inspired me to be myself and don´t be afraid of what other people think
Sleeper Agent. Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 to play the guitar, then play the bass guitar, learn some of thier songs and a whole lot of stuff
ShayShay1993 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Well, I heard my first two Green Day songs when I was in kindergarten (When I Come Around and Good Riddance) but I didn't realize it was them until I was well into my 7th grade year. I got made fun of a lot and so I found comfort in listening and relating to them. But back on topic: they have taught me how to do what I want, when I want and not give a s**t about those who are standing in my way and about those who are trying to bring me down. I'm no longer ashamed of who I am and who I used to be. I have no regrets and because of them I have learned that everything I have ever done in my life has gotten me to this point in time and that everything happens for a reason. As far as what they have inspired me to do goes, they have inspired me to play music. Not the standard guitar or drums or bass but rather the ukulele! (yes I cover their songs and they sound amazing) They've also inspired me to draw The guys have helped me through so much in my life (so far) and they have a VERY special place in my heart
Viva_La_Revolution! Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 start a band, wher Green Day (an MCR, Blink-182 etc) t-shirts, and learn the drums
Juuli Helmi Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 My first Green Day memory was when I was 12 and that was when I heard my first Green Day song. After that, I was addicted. I was going through a certain time in my life that I wouldn't have made it through without their music. Green Day have been such a huge part in my life for so long and I know I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't gone through what I went through My cheesiness is showing.
Fiona? Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 They've inspired me to say what's on my mind, and not be afraid of what anyone else thinks. Even if whatever's on my mind makes no fucking sense
Underbelly Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I have been inspired to do so much- I was stuck in a rut, being a mom in the suburbs, being fat and having a job i hated, and just trudging through every day. I thought I was trying so hard to fit in with the other burb moms, running the rat race and being "normal". I listened to GD a lot when I was younger, in my early 20's, had Dookie and Kerplunk, and would rock out and definitely danced to my own drummer. I still loved Green Day and always turned it up on the radio, but really didn't buy much music, or go to many concerts, or....anything. It's pretty depressing looking back on it. You get in your head what you "should" be like...but it was so boring, and I wasn't that happy. I read so many responses here on young kids whose parents won't let them listen to GD and it makes me sad. They are doing the best they can, trying to raise you how they think is right. Try to be a little nice to them. It's hard. You never really lose the badass in you , you just think you need to squash it down. When my daughter was in 4th grade she started listening to Green Day. I was pretty happy she was getting into good music, she has awesome taste. By 6th grade she was a huge fan- and I started listening again, too. Really listening. Wow. Changed my life again. We listened to American Idiot over and over and over, then got 21st Century breakdown and listened and listened and learned it though and through. I pullled out my old CDs and fell in love all over again. It was like meeting old friends. I lost my awful job- best thing that ever happened to me. I had surgery and eventually lost 130 pounds. Two weeks after surgery, kind of against my doctor's advice, i went to the Green Day concert in Sacramento. Holy fuck. I was seventeen again. All the pent-up energy of the last few years came out, and I knew who I was again. Over the next year, I felt like I was really me for the first time in years. I got evey album, listened to all the lyrics.I got a new appreciation for other music because Mike and Trey are so amazing they caught my attention and I had to listen to each part, not just the melody or singing. I dyed my hair black again and started wearing the clothes I still loved- not the Burb Mom uniform of capris and tshirt or yoga pants and hoodie. My daughter turned 14 and I got her a guitar and GD songbooks for her bday, she has been learning and rocking it for a year now I even sort of learned to play "On the Avenue" from Pinhead Gunpowder! Green Day has been the soundtrack of my life. I've learned who really likes me for who I am, who not to give a damn about. I turned forty this year, and knowing i'm just a few months older than the boys, and a year younger than Adrienne helped me realize i'm not old, i can still rock out. They inspire me every day. My alarm plays "Waiting" every morning, it's what i wake up to. So every morning I thank my lucky stars and remember what is important in my life and that i can do absolutely anything that day. Yeah, they have definitely helped me change my life. It's a good life.

OldWhatsHisFace Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I almost forgot to add my religion has changed because of them. Wow, that's pretty epic. Wow. Well Quite a bit.. - Play Guitar - Play Bass - Play Drums - Consider playing piano ^ All alongside other musicians too, but Green Day are the main ones :L - My Clothes style has changes - Got me into other bands.. A lot of other bands.. Way lot of other bands... - To write songs too. But I tried and I failed And the way some of their early songs are about girls. I dunno, I guess I have followed Billie's lead
whatserbmae Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 They have inspired me a lot, especially when it comes to playing the guitar. I started playing when I was 12 (I remember playing some of the Dookie songs back then) and I played the guitar a lot up until I was 17, and now, 9 years later, after a waaaay too long break, and after just becoming a bigger and bigger Green Day fan, I'm finally getting back into it again, inspired to learn all the Green Day songs!
