Renjini Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 They sorta inspired me to watch the news and know what's going on around the world and question what we hear.
M3G4N Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Green Day changed everything for me. It's not that they taught me to mindlessly rebel anything and everything, but I definitely started to question things a lot more. I've grown up around a lot of close-minded people, and I always used to keep my mouth shut and be somewhat of a pushover, but listening to Green Day made me realize that hey, I've got a fucking opinion, and I'm going to talk about it whether you like it or not. Green Day also made me much more passionate about music in general. I started playing guitar and I eventually got into a band of my own, which has been really therapeutic at difficult times of my life. There are so many things that Green Day has either directly or indirectly influenced me to do or think or feel, I couldn't possibly list everything. But they have definitely made a HUGE impact on my life, and they continue to do so every time I listen to them.
Amber. Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Green Day changed everything for me. It's not that they taught me to mindlessly rebel anything and everything, but I definitely started to question things a lot more. ^ Same with me. And I started to "become part of the real world" or whatever and get involved with what's going on in the news and with the system and all that. After I started listening to Green Day, I started to realise a lot of things that I hadn't before. It's hard to explain, I guess. But Green Day helped me a lot and they definitely changed me. xD Cheesy, I know.
Lauralovesgreenday Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 green day has taught me so much. they inspired me to question my own and other's opinions they have inspired me to not let people walk all over me but most of all, they have inspired me to explore music. thanks guys.
rback57 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Eat 50 Eggs, just to prove Tre wrong. Actually, lets see: 1) Join this forum. 2) Learn to play guitar, although this isn't exactly accomplished yet... 3) Spend shit-loads of $$ on music. (now the real ones ) 4) Have a "Fuck It!" attitude to life. I just mean, if I want to do something, I'll do it, weather it's "trendy" or not. And, a lot of times, it is trendy, and I'm fine with that. 5) Find myself musically. Before, I wasn't sure what to do. I mean, I didn't really like all the pop crap that was popular, but I didn't really like the stuff my dad listened to, either. He's very into the small, local bands, and I wasn't quite digging it. Now, I know what kind of music I love, and I don't care how much it shows.
koolkev Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I have never been in trouble so much as when I started listening to Green Day Same story here....
Rachel Nimrod Armstrong Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 They have inspired me to do soo much like learn to play the guitar, drums and bass be in a band of my own write my own songs and the best one be a "Minority"
Isabel Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I genuinely think that Green Day has helped me to become extremeley sensible and responsible with my money because I've had to work so hard to balance and arrange my finances around my shitty, 18 hour a week part time job to pay for my trips to go and see them. Not many people can say that they have funded a trip to New York on 18 hours a week and only saving for 3 months with a LTJ tour in between.
04rebhop Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Green Day got me into music as a whole. I didn't really have any musical taste before Green Day. They also inspired me to play the guitar, and my clothing style changed because of them.
Sofouska Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 I see everything that you have written and I wanna post an "AGREEEEE" below every post They've inspired us in hundreds of ways.... I'm starting a punk band
04rebhop Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I suppose you could say they inspired me to get the American Idiot grenade tattooed on my arm today.
Guest Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 They inspired me to pick up a guitar and learn piano, not give a shit what other people think about me, break the status quo, dress and look however I want to in life and not to judge people based off what they look (that's more of an underlying tone from their music ) And I thank them all the time, because if I had not listened to their music, then I would not have been able to do all of the things that I wanted to do and become what I am now. And I'm happy for that.

This other band sucks!!!" and I get REALLY mad
colour_me_stupid_ Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 They did inspire me to try and teach myself to play guiter, but that failed I suppose I wouldn't have gotten my tattoo if it wasn't for them..
Prosthetic Brain Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 They inspired me to pick up and teach myself guitar when I was only 12 years old. Then more recently inspired me to start my own punk band, gotta love Green Day
Lindsey Love Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Great topic.. yeah, Green Day has inspired me to do many things. Each member had a personal effect on me. Mike inspired me to play bass. Before, I thought I woud never be good at anything. Around seven or eight years ago I had really started getting into Green Day and was awestruck by the bass line in J.A.R. It was simple... but beautiful. So I was looking around a guitar shop one day and picked up a bass. I instantly fell in love. The next week I bought a shitty little Fender and I've been playing ever since. Tre inspired me to just be me. He obviously doesn't give a fuck about other opinions. Tre is the most unique individual and I respect that immensly. Billie Joe inspired me to say what I'm feeling. I no longer keep my mouth shut when I feel strongly about something. I mean, I try not to be rude, but there are some things that just really bother me and after hearing American Idiot I realized... well, I have this voice. It's got to be there for some reason. Maybe I should use it a little more. Haha. And of course the music changed my life. I'm sure everyone on this site feels the same as I do. Maybe it hit us in different ways, but ultimately Green Day's music made us better people. The lyrics make us think. The music pumps through us. And the members inspire us. What else can I say? Green Day is just incredible like that.
MariaWhereDidYouGo? Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 The changed my personality completely. Now I do what I want and don't give a shit about what people think of me. But most importantly they taught me that there's nothing wrong with making mistakes.

BrokenHome Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Definitely personality changes. When AI first came out, I was such a little rude ass. I'd always start agruements, and then say "I don't feel any shame, I won't apologies" ahaha. Thats how Green Day negatively inspired me. But hey I was young. In other ways they inspired me, was to be a 'punk'. I used to go to Camden Market, and try to buy lots of punk clothes, to be like Green Day. They've been the inspiration behind 5 of my tattoos. And yeah, these days, just help me to not give a fuck about what anyone thinks, and just do what I wanna do.
