Things Green Day have inspired you to do

I've definitely become more confident in myself. Maybe part of it was just because I've grown up, but I really think Green Day had a big influence on who I've become.

They made me see what kind of a place the world can really be, and that we shouldn't have to put up with things that are going wrong in society. I've become a lot more interested in sociology and media studies (and most recently, theater!) and I'm taking them in college :)

And they made me become SO passionate for music, when before I got into Green Day I didn't care about music much at all. And now I'm a DJ at my college radio station. At least half the music I listen to, I wouldn't know about if it weren't for these guys

Edit: Oh, I forgot...Green Day's inspired me to step out of my comfort zone. To go out and live a little. You never know when your time's going to be up, so take every good opportunity you have. I feel like going on roadtrips to see Green Day, making trips into NYC to see AI, has made me more comfortable with going out and doing things on my own. I've become more independent.

Music is now because of them more important for me and now i spend so much time listening to better bands, they also changed my music taste.

They have really influenced some of the music I listen to now and helped me get into lots of it

They are also one of the bands that inspired me to learn the guitar, and hopefully soon the drums too

I started playing drums because of them, and music will be my career.

I take more risks now, like in what I say and how I conduct myself. They've made me realise that I shouldn't really care what other people think.

I am who I am now because of Green Day. I first heard them when I was 10 years old, and they helped me discover who I really am and who I want to be. I have no idea what kind of person I would be if I'd never heard of them.

I think the most positive thing Green Day has inspired me to be is myself. But that doesn't mean now I've got some sort of badass "I don't give a shit" attitude (although sometimes I think that would be cool) - I'm just generally happy to be who I am. They've taught me that it's okay to be original, and not follow the crowd.

This! Green Day lyrics have definetely changed me into another person. I would act like what's considered to be "normal" and I wasn't myself, I didn't say what I wanted to, I didn't dress as I wanted to... Green Day made me realise that even if the others don't accept us it's okay, as long as we're being true to ourselves.

They inspired me to learn guitar and my clothing style has changed :P

Me too!

They taught me how to live... My political views have changed thank to them and they made me believe in myself, be more confident and be true, not another poser.

- Started to play guitar and drums

- I even start to wearing make up because of them  (I started to wearing make -up after AI, and I had been a fan of them for 10 years when that album came out  )

They inspired me to start playing bass guitar and join a band. Now my band have got 2 gigs booked and we're recording a demo in the summer.

They convinced me first not to kill myself, then to pick up a guitar (Dookie), and then to actually socialize. = )

Won't be the only one but the album American Idiot ignited the "becoming a musician" dream, I had played guitar for a year and a half before it came out, but it was the one that cemented it from being just a small hobby into an everyday obsession, was the first album I learned then played back to front on guitar. Still only had the same feeling of "this is unprecedentedly amazing" on first listen from two other records, one being Arctic Monkeys "Whatever People Say I Am" and Kanye West "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy". These albums all have unbelievable ambition behind them which I think comes across in the music and it's hard to put into words but they are definitely very inspiring, and American Idiot was the first album to do this.

Like obviously I'm never going to make a hip-hop album about my inner demons and comeback from career suicide or a state of the nation political/social statement concept album but it's inspiring to think that this is the kind of shit that real musicians can achieve.

Other than that, there aren't many bands I'd travel down to London just to see, or go and see twice in 3 days in two different countries.

They've done a lot for me.. I started listening to them at 12/13 years old so they definitely taught me to not care about what people think and to just be myself. They also opened the flood gates to music for me. They helped me decide my career choice, by getting to photograph the show in KC in 2009. They inspired me to pick up a guitar when I was 14 but I gave up on that lol

Masturbate

Well, the inspiration might have come from 'Longview'.

Not be nice to every fucking person, ie: if I'm pissed, I don't hide it anymore. I am not afraid to say what's on my mind anymore, even if it's not nice.

I used to keep everything in my head, and I used to be way way too nice, so I became a pushover, and it got me nowhere.

So yeah, I am essentially more of a bitch now, but if it bothers anyone then it's their fucking problem :)

Green Day has inspired me to:

- Never give up

- Not to worry about the negitive thought/comments people have or say about me or other people that I like when it is not true or does not concern anyone else but myself

- To think of my self more ( in a non-selfish way and positive )

- To be more outspoken, truthful and literal

- To one play the guitar

- To try new and better things more often

Besides picking up a guitar, I really believe that they made me a stronger and better person. They made me realize that doing something you love to do is the best feeling ever, and that wanting to feel that way is completely okay. It's okay to love something, maybe a little too much, as long as it's real to you - it's okay to go after your dreams if you really believe them, because life's too short to spend time on things you don't like.

I can't think of one thing.. I guess they inspire me to be myself and not to give a fuck but that inspiration also comes from other music I listen to and books I read.. I suppose they influenced some of my music taste but so do other bands, like I listen to bands like The Yarbirds because of Aerosmith. I have played guitar since I was 16 and listen to Green Day since I was 13 and they didn't influence me playing the guitar.
