Hermione Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I think they released St Jimmy as a live single off BIAB didn't they? Or was it just a video? I can understand that because it was the American Idiot tour and it's an American Idiot song, and like I said before it's interesting to hear a different, live version of a song. But with C&V it's the first and only version people will hear........just not gonna be as good a first impression as a studio version would be. It's like releasing a demo version of a song or something - weird. Would rather have a 21st Century Breakdown song as a live single from the 21st Century Breakdown tour.
gdpony Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Not that thrilled about it being a single, but I loved the video! I dunno, in my opinion, single selection from 21stCB could have been so much better, and this just doesn't feel right I dunno. Only fans know why this song is so special, so I don't see it being that popular. but meh, who knows, it's just my opinion.
jos_whatsername Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I think the video is reeeeeally cool it totally made my (valentine's) day edit: WOOO 500th post
green day is Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 If they made a studio version and a proper video for it I'd like it as a single . Otherwise..........meh. The video's not good enough and a song's never gonna sound as good on a live recording. Releasing a live version of an already-known song I understand - it's cool to hear a different (even if not as good) version. But when there's ONLY a live version, I dunno. Not exactly gonna show the song off to it's full potential for people hearing it the first time. I totally, 100% agree with this. for once, hermione, i must disagree with you! honestly i think a studio version would be devastating, it already ruined When Its Time. i love how they sounds live, much moreso than all of the over-produced sound bytes, autotune and effects. hah but what i got the most kick out of in this video, was that at 0:56-1:00 is the same style as 1:01 in the Stop Drop and Roll video Green Day never uses auto tune. Ever. You obviously don't know what auto tune is. They use it about as much as all the pre-T-Pain bands do, just for the occasional off note. St. Jimmy was not a single in any form, even the video wasn't even really a video considering it's just the live footage from BIAB.
koolkev Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I am, waiting till, the 22nd, of march! (to the tune of waiting) LOL Also, I assume that the single is coming out on the 22nd? In the link, it said it was coming out on the 21st, the same day as Awesome As Fuck. That makes no sense so???
Burnout98 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I love the vid! Love the still photos! And now i can finally understand the damn lyrics.
solongfromthestars Posted February 18, 2011 Author Posted February 18, 2011 I agree with the other people who've said it should be a studio version rather than a live one. People aren't going to appreciate it in the same way they'd appreciate a studio version, except us But still, it would be awesome to hear it on the radio here.
