Boston Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 He was phenomenal; I'm so glad I got to see him in the role two times. He'll be sorely missed, but after almost a year of constant shows and promotion, the man deserves a break!
-Billiejoezee- Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I never got to see this with the original cast.
ifmemoryserves Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Damn I really need to go on the 27th shit.
Tubbie Head Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Is he working on another project or what? To me, all of this seems like this thing is slowly breaking apart. exactly...
Isabel Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Can't believe it's his and Esper's last show on the 27th! Oh yeah, and Billie's.
mallorymaloney Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Aw, fuck. This musical is never, ever, ever going to be the same again. Never.
Jacob. Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 This officially marks the end of American Idiot. They should have ended it when they were ahead.
ifmemoryserves Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Just realized February 27th is my 5th GDCiversary. Fitting.
Peace and Rainbows Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Sounds like everyone is leaving that day
Lu. Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Why is the whole original cast leaving? It's like so weird Even though I know I'd never get to see the musical, at least in a near future... it's like, what's going on?
plaid ducky Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Guys, cast members leaving is not the end of the musical. It happens. After being a part of a production for so long, you want to go do other things. I love John and I love John as Johnny. However, Van, who's currently the standby for Johnny/Will/Tunny, is really great as Johnny so the role is in great hands as Van's taking over the role.
in_your_face Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Damn that totally sucks! I just loved the way he played his character.
MascaraTears Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I got to see him as Johnny and meet him briefly after the show... he's both fantastic at the role and a genuinely nice guy. I'll definitely miss him but he's so talented that I'm sure he'll be involved with something else awesome before long. and I agree that it's sad to see the original cast leave, but the musical is so well-written and choreographed that I think it'll be just as good with other talented people.
Silverlight Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 My reaction when I saw this on Twitter this morning: Now I'll never be able to see him has Johnny! I'm going to be sad now
Burnout98 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Billiejoezee- Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Aw, fuck. This musical is never, ever, ever going to be the same again. Never. I agree. Jealous of anyone who saw the original cast.
Punk-tastic32 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 That's a bummer. But it's the way theater goes. Best wishes to John and his career. It seems like it's only a matter of time before Rebecca leaves NOT REBECCA!! NOOOOO!!!! D:
oda Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 i think people are being a little too dramatic now... everybody knew this would happen eventually
Zelda Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Aaand my dream of seeing the original cast (or most of it) is crushed even more. Oh well. At least the show may be going on tour. It definitely won't be the same, but whatever.
taybay Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Jesus, everyone's leaving I wish I would have gotten the chance to see him.
Monica. Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I'm sad that he left, but he had to leave at one point or another! I'm happy for John, and i wish him his very best!!
plaid ducky Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 He's in the upcoming Broadway play, Jerusalem, which starts previews on April 2nd at the Music Box Theatre on 45th. He's currently in London for rehearsals. I'm actually really happy that he's doing a play. His Broadway debut was a play but he's most known for the musicals he's been in, even though he never really strived to be a musical actor.
