Nah that's not quite what it is. It's a hill near Billie and Mike's old school that overlooks the school's sports field. People would go up there and watch games, hence the nickname "Tight Wad" Hill. But people also went there to just hang out/drink/take drugs etc.

Damn. Idk where I got the other story from then.

Well you were pretty close. I think I've heard of people going to visit it when they were off visiting Green Day related places, someone on here must know where it is.

Just had a search around and apparently it's John Swett High, in Crockett.

What does it mean nimrod? :)

Nimrod means dork. :)

This question has been asked before, and if you want to know more about the origin of the word and all that, Hermione posted this earlier:

The word Nimrod has several meanings but Green Day have talked about the meaning of the album title a few times. There was a person in the Bible called Nimrod who was a "great hunter". Then in an old Bugs Bunny cartoon, Bugs made fun of the hunter Elmur Fudd by calling him a "Nimrod" sarcastically, really meaning he was a useless hunter.

Since that cartoon the word Nimrod has taken on another meaning - it means dork, loser, etc. That's the meaning Green Day were going for when they named the album:

Interviewer: I checked the name Nimrod... Strange choice for an album title.

Billie Joe: Yeah, I know. It's some guy from the old testament. For some strange reason it turned into a curse; it's another name for dork.

Woops, yeah basically what everyone has said above. People used to watch the sports games from the hill and use it as a drinks/drugs spot. Plus calling someone a "tight wad" can often mean they are cheap, not willing to spend a lot of money. Thats why the first line says "cheapskate on the hill"

plug these co-ordinates into google maps:

37.995199,-122.280042

that's Tiight Wad Hill.

You can see Pinole High to the west, and Pinole Valley Shopping Centre, where Fiat Records is located.

Also, the 7-11 across the road from the Shopping Centre is THE 7-11 from Jesus of Suburbia (the song lyric, not the video) according to the guy that worked at Fiat. makes sense.

'the 7-11 where I was taught' - Billie was taught at Fiat...

^Ahh, so the description I read on various Green Day sites was wrong, it's the stadium at the University Of California that it overlooks giving a free view of the game. There's actually a Wikipedia page for it  :

^^^

But in that wiki article it says:

"Green Day mentioned the hill's name in a song on their fourth album, Insomniac, but it is in reference to a hill that over looks the football field at their high school and not the hill over looking Memorial Stadium. Green Day has had a colorful history in and around the Berkeley area, having started their career there as an underground punk band."

LOL maybe I should've actually read the whole thing. Right, so there's two different hills, one at that stadium and the Green Day one near their highschool. Now I understand.

ya. we thought we had gone to the wrong one at first because people kept telling us different things

does anyone know the suburb/adress where Foxboro apartments are?

co-ordinates on google maps would be AWESOME.

I don't know but if someone does and posts it here, thank you in advance!

So after some extensive poking around the interwebs, it turns out it's in Hercules, which is just south/west of Rodeo, CA.

It's actually a residential village. I Google Street-viewed it, and found a 'Foxboro Village' sign but not the 'Foxboro' sign that I've seen people posing with.

so, if anyone can tell me the location of that particular sign, I'll be a happy chappy.

I also saw some hot tubs *coughSPABATHScough* in google earth :D

I don't know if this question's really stupid or not, so I'm sorry if it is, but I'm kind of clueless about this

I've been looking at tickets for AI in Feb, any of the shows between the 19th and 22nd (I can't get to the last one anymore :( ). I'm sure the front row is long gone, but is it at all possible for me to still get tickets within the first few rows? Is there anywhere at all I could get them from even for a crazy price? I'm quite happy with the Row F ones on the website, but if possible I'd like to be closer.

The front rows are typically held for lottery....where you put your name in a bucket two hours before show time and they draw names to give you the opportunity to buy two seats in those rows for $27. I urge you to show up for that. People I know have had amazing luck with that throughout the show's run. Odds aren't great depending on how many names are in the bucket, so don't count on it, though!

Surely there are secondary ticketing businesses selling closer-in tickets for profit...it's probably best to ask your question over on the American Idiot Musical thread. People over there have seen the show multiple times and may have some ideas for you.

Hey guys!

Can I find that wall at Studio 880 in Oakland?

Thank you! :D

Yeah that's 880.

Here's a question, I remember hearing the studio was sold a while back and a few people were guessing Green Day bought it, did that turn out to be true or..?

Thanks! I bought the Row F tickets about a week ago, but I'll definitely be entering the lottery in case I can get closer ones.

Type "Studio 880, 27th Avenue, Oakland, CA, United States" in. That's the address that shows up, but I can't actually find the studio. I have no clue what it looks like. You wouldn't be able to see that wall anyway, it'd be inside an enclosure.

Looks like a fabulous neighborhood doesn't it?

Yeah that's 880.

i did some googlemapin', and this is the wall right? You would even be able to see it from street view if it wasn't for the huge ass hedge over there.
