Hermione Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 I've read in an interview that when they recorded Good Riddance they started off with practically a whole orchestra in the studio - loads of musicians. It didn't sound quite right so they kept changing things around and getting rid of musicians/instruments until they ended up with just a couple of violins. So maybe they were session musicians/members of an orchestra rather than anyone "famous"? If they started with lots of musicians and cut it down that seems likely.
-Billiejoezee- Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 So for the strings, they only have violins? Oh here's a question. Okay you know the back of the dookie bookket, it gives you an adress to write to green day. Was that ever valid or real?
BringMoreKnives Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 The more recent pressings are quite easy to get hold of, you can get one pretty cheap on ebay, around $10. The older pressing is rarer though, they sell for more like $20 - $30. Then there's the original pressing which is worth around $40 - $50. If you keep a look out for it on ebay one will come around. I hope that helps Thanks! =) Actually, i just got one of the orginal pressings for $10 from a antique store Just wanted some more info on it. When i saw it, i was like WOAH ,That must be at least $50. And the lady said: "it's $12" Me: "I only have $10" Lady: "sold"

FannyDefoe Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I'm looking for the Green Day cover of "Yes, She is my skinhead girl" anyone knows where to find it??? I searched all over youtube
E!!i Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I'm looking for the Green Day cover of "Yes, She is my skinhead girl" anyone knows where to find it??? I searched all over youtube I didn't even know that they covered this song. Where did you hear that?
FannyDefoe Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I didn't even know that they covered this song. Where did you hear that? I dunno... I googled it and there are thousands like "Green Day Lyrics - Yes, she's my skinhead girl" and I was like..."huh? I wanna hear!!!!" so I thought somebody here might know it?
Anja Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Might be a cover they played once. There's lyrics of pretty much all the songs they ever covered online under Green Day's name.

I wanna hear!!!!" so I thought somebody here might know it? Haha I just googled it, you're right. That's weird. Looking at those lyrics , you'd think if Green Day had covered it it'd be all over the place and we would've heard it already. Maybe they played a tiny snippet of it, the way they do at shows sometimes? Or they got wrongly listed as having covered it once and the mistake ended up spreading around? I just think with lyrics like that if there was a recording of Green Day playing it people would post it everywhere. If anyone knows any info about it I wanna know though, I'd certainly enjoy hearing them play that song!
oda Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 did green day ever get sued for anything else then the ernie thing? have they ever sued anybody? just curious
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 did green day ever get sued for anything else then the ernie thing? have they ever sued anybody? just curious They used someone else's artwork on their tour background for East Jesus Nowhere (which they didn't know, may I add, it was some other company who found that art and gave it to them, when it didn't belong to them). So they got sued for that. I think they sued this band that completely ripped off their songs, but I'm not sure if that's just a rumour or not. But if they did, they must've won because it was exactly their songs (a couple songs from 1039/SOSH and/or Kerplunk), just with Spanish lyrics and the tiniest changes in the music. And I think they have been sued and have sued others (although I think Warner is the one suing, not Green Day themselves) countless other times.

darenmay Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 i'm making a list of green day covers/b-sides/... that are full studio version only. please tell me what i missed. pleasee. thank you. lights out like a rolling stone another state of mind a quick one while he's away simpsons theme the ballad of wilhelm fink governator shoplifter favorite son i fought the law the saints are coming working class hero when it's time
maz17 Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Is there a reason that fans get pulled up on stage to sing Longview as opposed to any other song? I reckon its because 1. They want fans who know more than AI and 21cb to be up there 2. Its fairly simple and the drums/bass is pretty much the same throughout so if they screw up its not that hard for them to get back on track Generally its an easy choice for people to get up and sing
