like the "squealing dog" in longview? i think it sounds more like a seagull though.

I always thought it sounded more like a crying baby

But who knows, maybe Green Day slip random animal noises in all their songs :ninja:

The noise in Longview after "call me pathetic call me what you will" is "WHAT YOU WILL!".

Billie said call me what you will, so they're doing what he asked and calling him "what you will" literally. Get it? :D

It's not Mike shouting it. It's a member of a band Green Day was friends with who was known for calling out "what you will" at shows. CAN'T remember who it was or what band he was from now though. Can anyone remember?

It's during the "we're coming home again" part, right before Mike starts singing and the song ends. It's pretty loud. xD I guess it's not really singing....it's more like screaming. Haha.

I'm starting to think it's Tre the more I listen to it, but it makes more sense for it to be Mike, at least based on what we can actually hear. Oh well.

Oh I thought it was at the very end so I played this part over and over to figure out whatever sound I tried to figure out  Thanks

edit: OH THAT!! Now I get what you were all talking about  I always thought it was Tré and I stick to that haha Definitely sounds like Tré. And never got what he says though.

Nice random question there  Billie's (and his family's) fish. Although I think it's more a question of 'who was Speedy', since most goldfish don't reach the old age of ... well, however old it must be by now. Eight years or so? xD

What does Billie ask and Adrienne answer?

I finally listened to Longview for 'the squealing dog' I don't think it is I think it is someone saying what you will in the background

Billie: "Do you think it's okay to stick Joey in the front seat?"

80: "Yeah, 'cause there's no air bag"

This one took me a minute too - but air bags are dangerous for kids and short women - some have been killed by them - so the classic car that he drives wouldn't have one.

AND - it's a little strange typing what Billie says to his wife.

Does anyone know if there's a transcript of the "Look For Love" interview? I can't make out the whole thing. Thanks

What does Billie ask and Adrienne answer?

see above quote - I must have clicked on the wrong one - sorry

Well Billie said it on twitter and during a show so it looks like it.

At some shows he done it with the band and I've never seen him do it on his own.

Yeah, they had a friend called Eggplant who used to shout out 'what you will' at shows, so for the recording he came in and said it for them.

]I (FINALLY) bought American Idiot today, and I was looking through the booklet and I saw that there was something crossed out and 'Whatsername' was written on top of it multiple times, both in the track listing and the song Whatsername. I was wondering, does anyone know what it says underneath? I've figured out a lot of the crossed out stuff, but not this and it piqued my curiosity.

I have a theory on this...

I always thought it was Whatsername's real name.

"I remember the face but I can't recall the name..."

But that's just my theory.

I don't know what it really says, I'd look at it but I lost my booklet years ago. :pinch:

If I'm not wrong he did in Milan, in November

And If I'm wrong I have some serious problem, as that's one of the two shows I went to

I read somewhere that it was just "Omit" over and over again. But the symbolism seems about right.

In the song, it looks like it just says "Whatsername", actually, I'm pretty sure it does. You can see the tops and bottoms of some letters sticking out of the crossed out, and if you hold it at an angle where the light kind of goes over the letters, you can read it vaguely as well (although that might just be my mind tricking me). I'd like to know what's in the crossed out parts that don't have Whatsername written above them. Same for the thing in September that has "what I lost" written above it. I can figure out some letters, but not a whole word

In the tracklisting, it says ..SERMA or ..SERNA (the dots are letters I can't figure out). I think it's supposed to be a misspelt version of "Whatsername".

The other day I thought, "I haven't looked at my 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours CD/booklet for ages, I think I'll have a look". I was looking at the 39/Smooth tracklisting on the back of the booklet and I noticed it doesn't just say At The Library, it's says:

At The Library

with Waba Se Wasca

WTF? First of all, after obsessively looking at my Green Day booklets SO many times, how did I never notice this before? Second, what on earth is Waba Se Wasca?

Posted

^ I've never heard of that either! I hope someone knows more about this.

Ahaha, I googled those words, and found the Lookout! Records site. Lawrence Livermore answered one of the questions: "By the way..Waba se wasca? What does it mean? It means they were stoned a lot in those days."  I don't know.

Wooooah I didn't notice that before either! :o

another proof of how your brain only actually sees some thing and just fills in the rest.

I have no idea who or what that is either...

Second, what on earth is Waba Se Wasca?

A quick run through an anagram server lists 80 results, with the only grammatically correct sentence; "A Cab As We Saw"

Lol, turning the words around, discarding "with" it gives "A Cab As We Saw At The Library"

damn, I need to get to bed...

A not so quick search on Google claimed Waba Sé Wasca to be an artist, cooperating with Green Day for ATL

Does Billie still use the same original Blue? Or is it a replica?

Haha I saw that too! But it's not an answer damn it :lol:

Yeah, I suppose it's just automatically listed as an artist somewhere because it's in the tracklisting of the album.

Thanks for the help. Hmm, I'm thinking the lack of info from Google, and Larry's answer , means it was probably just an in-joke of some kind.

Edit: Just tried it out on Google translate, can't find anything from that. I wonder if it actually says anything in any language or if it's just made up?

It's the original. Years ago it got too worn out/broken to use, so he made a load of replicas and used them instead during Nimrod/Warning times. But at some point he got the original fixed up again, and that's what he uses now.

Oh right, cool, thanks!

You really are a fountain of Green Day knowledge, aren't you?
