is it a "crime" if I make a t-shirt with some Green Day lyrics and then wear that t-shirt in public (I mean the whole copyright thing here, ugh)?

dumb question maybe and maybe it doesn't really suit in this topic?

I remembered an old question I've had for a long time!

You know the audio where the guys tell the story of Tré's ball? (download here) Where is it from? Is there a full interview or a video or something?

That was a radio interview for a show called Modern Rock Live (I forgot which radiostation it was). :) I'll try and find you a download link in a minute.

edit: here it is It's the bottom one of the first list.

and I just saw somebody already answered this question before me, sorry about that. Ah well now you have the whole interview.

Nah. It would only be illegal if you started making thousands of t-shirts and selling them, but if it's just for you it's fine.

Definitely okay, I'm not an expert on the specifics of it all but making your own merchandise is 100% legal :)

I believe it's only illegal if you make a profit off of them, like if you sell them.

I honestly don't know for sure though.

Yeah, it's something like that, to do with selling and/or making profit, I don't know the specifics ... but it's definitely not illegal if you make a shirt yourself and wear it. :)

Yeah, I remember they told the story of Tre's ball in a radio interview in 1997. I'll try to look for it again but the interview exists on Youtube somewhere. EDIT: Check Youtube Channel /CharlatansAndSaints and the story was part of the 5 part video "Green Day Modern Rock Live Interview." I don't remember which part but I think it's in that.

Jimmy said yesterday that Green Day were going to be playing tonight, but I didn't see a topic made. Is it just a recorded preformance, or live?

Posted

They're playing a live show, yes, if that's what you mean....? It's been going on for about 40 minutes now.

I don't get what you mean. They're on tour, they're playing a show in Canada, it's not being broadcast on tv or anything like that at all. I don't know about anything else.

What she means is Green Day is playing a show in Canada tonight, they're on stage there right now. Do you mean Jimmy Fallon? If so I guess it's just one of the songs they did on there repeated, LOTAG or Rip This Joint.

Unless they're gonna show It's Fuck Time  *drifts into dream world*

I like your dream world :shifty:

I has a questionz for everyone familiar with the American Idiot musical ... Or theatre in general, really! Now, this may sound pretty Goddamn n00btastic, but hey, I'm a total theatre n00b, so there's no sense pretending I'm not.

QUESTIONS.

Which are the best seats for the American Idiot musical? I just looked up tickets and seating locations on a whim, and I was so confused, as there's so many different locations you can pick from!

Also, when I decided I wanted to try and get front row seats, the best/most expensive/'premium' seats available were always in the third row from the stage, even for dates as far in the future as November, during the middle of the week ... Which makes me think that perhaps the first three rows aren't even being sold, possibly because one might not be able to properly see the stage?

And one last thing: Why are aisle seats held in such high regard in the Broadway world? I have no clue, and I'm hoping you guys can help!

Usually the first couple rows in theatres are cheaper because your view is limited by being so close to the stage, as far as I'm aware that's the case in most theatres. As for the aisle seats... I have no idea

I know the first couple of rows are ALWAYS used for Lotto and it's an amazing experience. I heard front row mezz is really good.

Posted

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the front rows are held for lottery for most shows. It's really not the best place to see the show, anyway, if you're only going to see it once. You absolutely don't get an overview from the front Orchestra rows and there are multiple things happening several times in the show that you might miss.

I personally think ALL of the Orchestra seats are overrated. I'm not a tall person and the floor seating of the St. James is not sloped enough for me to see well when there is a tallish person in front of me. All it takes is that one person leaning over to her friend or husband in front of me to block the view of the stage.

Best spot? Front rows of Mezzanine. Even a few rows back is excellent seating. The mezz is far more sloped so the view is a lot better. You can easily see facial expressions (assuming you have decent vision ) and you can also see the overview - lighting effects, the video screens, etc.

I also enjoyed the Balcony seats, believe it or not. Although it's a haul up there!

I think the aisle seats are priced at a premium simply for convenience. If you've ever had to worm your way to the center of the aisle across a bunch of people....it's kind of a pain. Also, the aisle seat affords an unobstructed view from one side if you lean out.

Posted

Now it's on this topic anyway... what is the mezz? First I thought it was like, the lodge-thingies on the sides, and then I thought it was the balcony, and now I'm just confused. Not familiar with English theatre terms

Posted

^ It's short for the "mezzanine." I'm not too sure on how to explain it. It's basically a balcony above the orchestra. It's the "intermediate" floors between orchestra and the balcony.

Oooh ok. I just googled it, and combined with your explanation, I get it. (I'd googled it before with the exact same words, but somehow it didn't show anything useful). Thank you :)

It's been mentioned at least a billion of times in the AI Musical thread and I never knew what part it actually was, haha.

My seats were in the orchestra, about 10 rows back. They were very, very good, and pretty cheap. Me and my parents saw the show for $240. I think at the St. James, there really aren't any bad seats. But I would definitely recommend not being in the balcony at least, if you can help it.

Edit: balcony isn't too bad actually, especially if you aren't that tall. I think someone mentioned that in the orchestra section, if someone tall is in front of you, it might obstruct your view a little bit. Luckily I didn't have this problem, but it might be something to consider.

I have a question about a green day show... how many minutes before the show starts do they start to let people in?

Posted

I think it depends of the venue, but most of the time it's an hour or so before the show starts. If the show starts at 7, then the gates would probably open around 6, or a little bit before. I know it was about 5:50 when the gates opened for the show I went to see.

here the show will start at 9, and I thought they'll open around 7-7:30... but acording to the tickets' site they will open at 4PM. What the fuck.
