Oh really? I'm just affraid of the fact of being surrounded by a looot of people and not being able to sit down being frustrating if I went for cheapest and bought pit tickets.

I don't think the thought of wanting to sit down would even cross your mind. Honestly once you're there in the crowd it's so exciting the last thing you'd wanna do is sit down, all you wanna do is jump around and sing along and wave your arms in the air. Plus you kind of get held up by the crowd some of the time anyway haha. It would still be good in seats but you can't beat being in the pit, you're closer to the band and the atmosphere is just brilliant.

I always laugh at the idea that she just up and "moved to Ecuador"... a lot of American college students (especially at schools like Berkeley, which I'm assuming is where she was) study abroad their junior year for a semester or two. Pretty sure that would be why she was going to Ecuador.

Yeah I've definitely read that was why she went there, just to study for a semester or two. "Up and moved to Ecuador" sounds more dramatic than "went on a school trip" though :D

well, i never had seat tickets but i think you won't be surrounded by so many people that you can't sit down there ;) ...cos everyone has their place there ;) ...and even if, i somehow really doubt you need to sit during that show ;)

...and aren't the prices the same no matter for which place? ...at least it was on their 21CB tour...i'll definately buy standing tickets, cos i wanna either go first row or mosh pit...but that's off topic now

really? when i checked the prices for the 21stCB tickets in germany, they were all the same price, there was just a difference between seat and standing, but they were the same price...and you just had to be the fastest if you wanted to stand in the first row...but that might be different in other countries/other tours etc

Well, found it. This is the interview I was on about where Billie talks about Amanda going to Ecuador:

VH1: How much of Dookie is a love letter to your wife Adrienne?

Billie Joe: There really weren't any songs about her at that time. A lot of the songs are about this girl from San Diego, who went to Cal Berkeley. Adrienne and I weren't going out at the time. We lost contact with each other for about a year. She got engaged to a guy in Minneapolis. Then I got involved with this other girl. I lived in the basement in Berkeley with all these guys from the East Bay and she lived upstairs in the apartment. We ended up having this year-long relationship. The song "She" was about her.

VH1: How did you come to write it?

Billie Joe: She gave me this poem about this empowering woman, which I think is called "She." I wrote the song as an answer back to her. My now ex-girlfriend is also on the songs "Sassafras Roots" and "Chump."

VH1: So How did you and Adrienne get back together?

Billie Joe: My ex-girlfriend was moving to Ecuador to live there for the spring semester. At that point we were going to go on our tour and just keep going. So we had a hasty breakup. I never really talked to her ever again.

VH1: So what's it like now for Adrienne to be married to you and your biggest record is filled with songs about another woman?

Billie Joe: I know she likes that song! I've been married for almost eight years, so Adrienne and I are comfortable enough that I've had a past. She's got a past, too. She was engaged, had boyfriends, had flings, and I'm comfortable with that, otherwise I wouldn't be married to her. Adrienne is the only woman I'll ever love.

No way  I've never seen that the prices are the same for seating or standing tickets. Usually pit tickets/standing tickets are the most expensive. Then front row, and basically if you're further away from the stage, the tickets are a bit cheaper. At least that's the way it is here.

I guess ticket prices depend on both venue and country... I've been in the seats and the pit and always found seats a lot more expensive. Maybe that's just the shows I've been to though.

Actually, how did the 'gold circle' thing at Wembley (or anywhere else) work? Did they just put a barrier up after the first people went in or were there tickets sold specifically for that part of the pit?

On the subject of Wembley tickets... the tickets for that and Manchester LCCC were for both seats and the pit, so you could choose on the day if you changed your mind. The only tickets that were sold seats-only were the Wembley VIP box ones where the view looked a bit crap anyway.

There were no special tickets for the golden circle at Wembley, all the standing tickets were the same. They just let everyone in the stadium and once the golden circle was full they closed it off. So you just had to be near the front of the queue to get in it.

Ah ok, thanks. :)

It's the front of the pit (about the first 10 or so rows?) that's separated from the rest by a barrier. Some bands/venues sell those tickets separately.

Oh it was way more than 10 rows. I'm thinking it must've been at least a couple of thousand people. Anyone who turned up more than a couple of hours before the doors opened got in there, it was massive.

I think most of the time they only bother with a golden circle if it's a HUGE venue like Wembley or a festival anyway, usually there isn't one.

Thanks! And actually, could someone how a concert is,if it's not bothering too much? I mean, how long you have to wait, how you enter...I want to know all the details! I'm really curious about how going to a gig feels and how you enter, how you get your place...

well, i've never been to a concert, but on the question how you get your place: RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN !! :runaround: haha jk...but if you wanna have a good place, you usually really have to be fast...and be early at the venue ;)

Venues differ a lot so this is just a guide for the average arena.

There's usually a separate entrance for seats and pit. With seats, you don't have to line up all day and can go in whenever you want before Green Day start. You don't have to bother with the support act if you don't want to. When they let you in, there's an area before you go to your seat where you can buy merch, buy food/drinks, use the toilets if you want, etc. Then there's usually steps up to the seats so you find your block (that's what part of the arena your seats are in), go up the steps then find your seat.

With the pit, if you want a good place you need to get there really early. You probably won't have time to buy merch etc if you want to get a good place (unless someone saves it for you but that can go wrong). If you need the toilet or want a drink then do it before they let you in. You can still buy merch after the show if you don't buy it before.

When they let you into the pit you fucking run! Some venues will tell you not to run so then I guess you just walk as fast as you can. Then, well, you get your place and first you see the support act, then about half an hour (although it feels like forever) Green Day will come onstage. If you're front row then make sure you put your arms over the barrier in a way that you can't be pushed off.

Then the show is epic and you have eargasms.

Hope that helps. :P

Yeah that helped a lot :D And how is the mosh pit? I mean, you said someone could save a place for you,but isn't it just floor, with no divided places or seats? Like a square and you are getting pushed all the time by dancing people?

You only can save a place for someone when that someone is coming right behind you. You reach the barriers and extend your arms as long as you can for other people. But it doesn't work if the other person wants to buy some merch... the first rows will get filled and really tight, he/she won't reach you.

In a mosh pit, if you are in the first rows, you will get squeezed buy people, you almost won't have space to move (front row you are severely pushed against the barriers and with no space to move at all). It seems horrible, but I gotta say: it is worth every single second!! Besides having a better vision of the show, the probability of you being pulled to go to the stage is bigger!

After 5 or 6 rows (depends on the venue), you get a little more space to jump around.

To ask a new question: Do they sell merch right after the concert?

Yes, but it's usually slim pickings

I usually buy merch after a show and they've always had my size (medium or small) t-shirt left. They sometimes didn't have large/XL left though.

Also not every pit is super tight with no room to breathe, they're all a little bit like that but you can get lucky or unlucky... in Manchester the problem with front row wasn't that I was getting squashed but that we kept having to move so unconscious people could be pulled out, and girls tried to get their arms into those spaces and push you out.

I've seen people save places while others go to buy merch and it being okay, but I really really wouldn't recommend it. So easy for it to go wrong.

Well, actually the fact of being more likely to go onstage is a bad thing for me.I'd be ambarrassed,I'm too shy to go onstage.I just wanna be near Mike and highfive him when he passes  Touching Mike will make my life. Now if my friend comes and I'm able to take some HD pics of Mike I'll be completely ready to die happy.Oh,yeah, and Billie too.
