Hermione Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Same. I'm sure it's not a daily thing, but the way they still refer to it often and in sort-of present tense makes it pretty obvious that they still smoke weed often enough. What video are we talking about where Billie declines a cig? "Do you want a cigarette?" "Oh no I don't smoke. Can I just put it in my mouth and look cool?" "No you can't man"
Heather. Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Thanks for that... I was watching the wrong one, the long one where he draws on himself haha.
XxRedundantCastaway86xX Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Has anyone ever figured out the lyrics to "Oh Girl"? If so, could you please give me a link to the thread I can find them in? Because I'm thinking about doing the song for a school talent show. Thanks.

This is all I could find on the net, but I don't think most of it is right. ___________ myself And I can only tell and maybe I'll put up a fight(?) And I can only tell Maybe I will see you 'round some time Oh girl, do you wanna know what's at home, girl Oh girl, do you wanna be my _____, girl Oh girl, who knew _______________ Oh girl, you wanna get a reason for excuses. Oh, won't you hold me down? Cause I won't put up a fight Now with your eyes so brown Maybe I will see you around some time Oh, won't you hold me down? Cause I won't put up a fight And with your eyes so brown, Maybe I will see you around some time
sara_gd Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 This is more of an English question: the other day in class my English teacher said that the word "suburb" means just a residencial area, not a low-class area (in spanish "suburbio" means a low-class place near a city). I always thought of Jesus of Suburbia living in that kind of low-class, industrial area, relating it to Rodeo, so it's actually not?

I always thought of Jesus of Suburbia living in that kind of low-class, industrial area, relating it to Rodeo, so it's actually not? In Billie's case, he's definitely referring to working-class Rodeo, so yes, in Jesus of Suburbia he does mean that as a low-class thing. But, in general, a "suburb" is considered a nice place to live, in that the houses are bigger outside of cities and the schools are better and all that, people want to raise their kids in suburbs, generally speaking. I think his use of "Suburbia" mostly refers to the way America associates Suburbs = BORING, regardless of wealth or status. But I know what you mean.... I lived in Madrid last year, and going to the "suburban" parts of it was not as nice!

Zelda Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Does anyone know if those special AI package things (the ones with the exclusive poster, $5 discount on IC membership, and other stuff) will be available for the other dates (specifically Dallas)? I want to know if I should go ahead and get a ticket, or wait to see if those become available. I want a good seat, but I also want all of that awesome stuff.

Zelda Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I have never heard of this Here's the update about it for some of the NY performances: http://greenday.com/...n-idiot-presale I really hope they do it for the rest of the dates. edit: I hope it's not exclusive to the IC though...I don't see why it would be if it's $5 off of the membership, or the renewal. And all of hte information is on the IC site.
BJA TC MD Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Did Green Day do any surprise shows before they released 21st Century Breakdown?
Liam Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Did Green Day do any surprise shows before they released 21st Century Breakdown? They did about 5 secret shows but by that time the new album and title had already been announced.
Hermione Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Plus they did the 10 Foxboro shows a year before. Obviously that wasn't related to the album coming out and was just for fun. But for all we know that's what these shows are too, just having fun long before they're even thinking about releasing an album.
XxRedundantCastaway86xX Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Anyone have a download link to Carpe Diem from the Mezzanine? I've been searching the site but can't seem to find one. Thanks.

Liam Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 is this account real? https://www.facebook.com/trecoolsdrums he replied me via mobile last friday, said 'Hi there from Texas.' Yeah thats his official account. He made it a few years ago for his drums but from what I've heard he doesn't use it any more. Only official facebook account for a Green Day member
darenmay Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 ^thanks for the reply, Liam. i had thought about it, and so i didn't completely freak out. hehh
Demented or Disturbed Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I was searching 'green day david bowie' on google (don't ask, I was trying to prove a point to my friend) and for some reason, there are a bunch of websites that say that bowie was either the writer or composer of 21 guns... Anyone know why this is?
Heather. Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 It's because some people think that it sounds very similar to the song Bowie did with Mott the Hoople called "All the Young Dudes"... the songs themselves don't sound that similar, just the one part. So "people" say GD "stole" it from Bowie, just like they "stole" BOBD from, well, you know the rest...
kellista Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 When was 21st Century Breakdown announced? thanks
*withoutadoubt* Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 When was 21st Century Breakdown announced? thanks As far as I remember, the first time we officially heard about the album title (and release ?) was at the Grammys in Feb. '09 when Green Day presented an award.

Yeah I think that was the first time the band confirmed the title and said something about when it would be released (don't know if it was an actual date or not). But before that it was this article/interview in December 2008 where we first heard all about the album and the songs etc from the band: http://www.greendaya...articles/111/1/ It was so exciting reading that article when it came out

It was very exciting to read that and it was cool reading about some of the song meanings. That's when East Jesus Nowhere was still March of the Dogs!
