The Platypus! Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 When you go up on stage with Green Day do you get to go back to the place you were standing in the first place ?
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 When you go up on stage with Green Day do you get to go back to the place you were standing in the first place ? I guess that depends on the venue and whether you crowdsurf or not. I got to go back to the exact spot where I was, maybe one or two persons to the left, but still in second row, and I've heard about a whole bunch of people who got to go back as well. There has also been a fair amount of cases where people were escorted to the back of the pit.

From what I've heard and from what I saw in Georgia, the security guards were very good about getting people back to their spots safely.
Heather! Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 When you go up on stage with Green Day do you get to go back to the place you were standing in the first place ? Yeah, that pretty much depends. A girl near me was pulled up and she stage dived and made her way back up to the barricade. I think if you have a ~nice audience then you'd have a good chance of getting back up to the front. Does anyone know what Jason White's guitar picks look like?
EvanAsFuck Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 In the song Before the Lobotomy, at the part where it goes Like refugues, we're lost like refugues... What are they saying after each line? It sounds kinda like "totally" in a high pitched voice
Juliette Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I think it's just kinda "oohee" lol that made no sense but I don't think it's a word
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 It sounds like "too late" in the a capella version. And the voice that sings it cracks me up I guess someone will have to play the song on RB with two or three voice parts, and find out
JoeMcHugh Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I was just wondering whether anyone knows if John Kiffmeyer aka Al Sobrante gets paid any royalties for their sales of records he appeared on?,or the songs from them albums get played on the radio?
Eirik Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I don't see why he wouldn't. But 1039 songs aren't exactly played on the radio often. Also, I'm pretty sure that after some time, you don't get paid anymore if you just played on a track. I remember seeing something about that a couple of years ago, might have changed now though.
st.idiot Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 how did green day come to decide that they wanted to cover working class hero?
Eirik Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Well, I assume they were informed about the Instant Karma project, and wanted to contribute or were asked straight-out to contribute. And Workign Class Hero was jsut natural for them as that is something they can relate to. I haven't seen any interviews where they actually talk about it though, so this is just guess-work.
Hermione Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I don't see why he wouldn't. But 1039 songs aren't exactly played on the radio often. Also, I'm pretty sure that after some time, you don't get paid anymore if you just played on a track. I remember seeing something about that a couple of years ago, might have changed now though. I think if you're credited for writing a song (as opposed to just playing on it), you keep getting paid royalties for it. Obviously Billie's credited for writing the lyrics, but they're all credited for writing the music so they all get royalties. And I've heard that Green Day have always split their writing credit for songs equally, so they all get the same amount per song. So I think he does still get paid from it. I've definitely read an interview where Tre said something along the lines of "he's still getting paid from the first album". I can't remember how old the interview was though.
GDM Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Yeah, I think that guitar is new. Unless that is one of the Gibson hollowbodies he used during the recording of nimrod. He hasn't used it live before, at least. Eirik, hopefully you can see this from Facebook, but Kimberly recorded his solo during Minority on the guitar. FB link BJA Minority Solo Holmdel
Bastard of 1967 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I'm pretty sure in the Idiot Club Q & A a long ago, someone asked who gave him Blue and he said it was his mom. Mark Spitz's book notes that Blue was actually his instructor's guitar, and during Billie's early guitar lessons he absolutely fell in love with it. Ollie (Billie's mom) noticed, somehow scraped together around 400 clams or so she earned from her waitressing job, and bought it for Billie for one of his birthdays. Best $400 she's ever spent in her live, methinks. Great story!

Tubbie Head Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 GUYS, this is something that is bugging me for a while, what's Billie Joe's middle name?
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Does he even have one? I mean, I don't know, but I've never heard about him (or Mike, for that matter) having a middle name.
Tubbie Head Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Does he even have one? I mean, I don't know, but I've never heard about him (or Mike, for that matter) having a middle name. I know!! It feels so weird to me, do some American people not have a middle name? Is that an option?
Eirik Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Yes. Many Americans don't have middle names. It's quite common in Scandinavia, as well.
LetItBeHappy Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Does he even have one? I mean, I don't know, but I've never heard about him (or Mike, for that matter) having a middle name. Isn't "Joe" the middle name? Anyways, Mike's middle name is Ryan and Tré's Edwin.
Pedestrian9394 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I know!! It feels so weird to me, do some American people not have a middle name? Is that an option? Hahaha. Yes, we have middle names. xD This question was actually just asked a couple of pages back, and most people believe that he just doesn't have one.
Tubbie Head Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Hahaha. Yes, we have middle names. xD This question was actually just asked a couple of pages back, and most people believe that he just doesn't have one. lol I didn't know that question was asked, sorry. xD So, I just learned something new today =) But, It's still weird
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I know!! It feels so weird to me, do some American people not have a middle name? Is that an option? Lol, yes it is. My mom doesn't have a middle name (offtopic: yes! Now my Spanish classes finally benefit me once! I know why it feels weird to you that he doesn't have a middle name! Sorry, but my Spanish lessons were so utterly useless. I'm happy it wasn't all wasted time xD) Isn't "Joe" the middle name? Anyways, Mike's middle name is Ryan and Tré's Edwin. No, that's part of his first name. xD Wait what. Now you say that, I realize I did know Mike has a middle name and that it's Ryan, I had just completely forgotten
Tubbie Head Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Yes. Many Americans don't have middle names. It's quite common in Scandinavia, as well. and why is that? An option I suppose. I really didn't knew about it
