Amanda Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Elvis Indeed. King For A Day was written because Billie spent a day sitting on the toilet, eating fried peanut butter & banana sandwiches and pretending to be Elvis.
greendaytone Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 He likes Prima Donna (mentioned them in Little Stevens show). I also reckon he like Emily's Army
Anja Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Anybody knows anything about this book?: http://www.thalia.de...?jumpId=2974037 It was released in July so it's quite fresh. I've never seen it anywhere though. As for HLAHG: I think it totally lived up to it. It was by far better than any other documentary I have seen of GD. Even though it was more about the album than the band itself.
bollard_11 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Blink 182 and Sum 41, he rips them off all the time
KilljoyFromDetroit Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I think his favorites are The Replacements, The Who, The Clash, The Ramones, and also maybe Operation Ivy
EvanAsFuck Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Yeah he definitely mentions the Replacements every time he's asked that question... Other answers I've heard him give are Ramones, Husker Du, Elvis Costello, Screeching Weasel, The Clash, etc.
beejeezee Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 All the ones mentioned. Pretty sure ge's a Foxboro Hot Tubs since the new song Stray Heart sounds a lot like The Rev's work. The Big Four, Anthrax, Slayer, Metallica, and another one. And Iron Maiden I think
-Laura Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 The rolling stones and the beatles too I think.
kellista Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 In this video are they talking about the same AI movie that is in development now? Because its from around the time Holiday was released... (They start talking about it at like 4min and 11sec)

PleasedToMeetMe Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 The Replacements, The Kinks, The Ramones, The Clash, Operation Ivy, The Who. I'm sure plenty more . .

(They start talking about it at like 4min and 11sec) www.youtube.com/watch?v=9R0i0tcekwU&t=4m11s Nope, this was before the musical, therefore before the musical movie. This was back when the movie was set more as a drama. No Michael Mayer back then.
bollard_11 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 The Big Four, Anthrax, Slayer, Metallica, and another one. And Iron Maiden I think You mean MEGADETH?
captain peroxide Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Merged with "Green Day Q&A Thread." It exists for a reason. Use it.
a peculiar name Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 I always wondered who Bj's favourite bands were so I was hoping you guys might be able tell me Billie has no favorite band! He's got a very collected taste in music taste from Dolly Parton to Operation Ivy! He really likes the Ramones and The Clash, The Who, OP IV, The Potatomen, Mystic Knights of the Cobra,Van Halen, The Replacements,... sorry if this questions has been asked a billion times but, what happened to the" heart like a hand grenade" film that was being made?? I remember there was some updates not long ago and then everything went silent. Anybody know anything? John Roecker is finished with it, it would be all ready and stuff, but Warner Brothers don't want to release it cause of American Idiot coming out in 2013. The earliest it may come out is 2015!

Bundita Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 well, just the ticket sales for Wembley stadium must have been around $8million. (80000 people x $100 per ticket) But I don't know if that figure is with or without costs of running the show. for each time they have fire explode outta the ground its $50 per blast each time they run the confetti explosive: its $ 25 when they do fireworks they spend about: $ 500 each gig they have them Green Day uses dunlop tortex guitar picks, idk how much they buy per tour but for 800 customized pics, it costs about $195 Green Day also has 2 personal chefs that tour with them :Sean Stone and Steve Jenkins They also have a personal server: Steve Ricalis And they have to hire all the techies, pyro dudes, security, translator, roadie, photographer, touring memers, sound dudes, and other people Pay for the bus, gas, maintenance, and stuff, Airplane fares Equipment, guitars, drums, amps, cables, chords, lighting, mist, fog machine, cannons, and other gear Booking the venue, transporting gear overseas and stuffs And tons of other stuff, I've heard that after minusing the costs of everything, Green Day gets less than half of the touring profit

Heather. Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 In WMUWSE, do we know what "Seven years has gone so fast" is referring to?? What was seven years before he wrote that? (1996?)
Hermione Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 In WMUWSE, do we know what "Seven years has gone so fast" is referring to?? What was seven years before he wrote that? (1996?) I always think of it as referring to when Billie was younger, about 17 (which would be 7 years after his father's death). The album is about a young man coming of age so it makes sense to think of JOS as being about 17, and it's obviously very autobiographical so in many ways it's also about Billie at that age too. I think with that line he's looking at it from the point of view of when he was the same age as and experiencing the same things as the character in the album. And then he goes on to look at it from his current age (20 years has gone so fast). He looks back on it from both ages, with looking back on it from the younger age helping to tie the song into the storyline and connect it to the JOS character.
Heather. Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Oh thanks Hermione! I never thought of it as a reflection from two times in his life!
justcause Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 I always think of it as referring to when Billie was younger, about 17 (which would be 7 years after his father's death). I thought it was more to do about being a father - his son being seven, and that those years have flown by, and then looking back to when he lost his own father, twenty years ago. I don't know the timeframe for this stuff, but that was the idea going round in the AI era.
BJA TC MD Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Has anyone figured out any of the lyrics of Carpe Diem yet?
