strangestat Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I don't know if anyone has asked this before, but I got into an argument with someone the other day. Does mike finger or pick the bass for longview? Video evidence would be nice, thanks!

InvaderPhantom Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 It's an old unreleased song of theirs (also known as World vs. World): Ah dangit I thought after reading the "Unreleased, Limited and Rare Songs" section on GDA, I knew every unreleased and obscure Green Day song ever xD Why do I always think I’m a bad fan when I suddenly discover something new? xD
Heather. Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Has Billie ever explained Drama Queen? I'm still at a total loss because it sounds like a father-daughter song. He must be keeping that secret kid locked in a closet
Hermione Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Has Billie ever explained Drama Queen? I'm still at a total loss because it sounds like a father-daughter song. He must be keeping that secret kid locked in a closet He has, back when it was going to be on 21st CB. It's not father-daughter don't worry : http://www.greendayauthority.com/articles/115/7/ I think he might've talked about it in at least one other article too. I think I remember him saying something about it being about celebrities like Jessica Simpson being managed and groomed into being a celebrity by their fathers. Something like that.
Undómiel Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Was Drama Queen every properly released?
Hermione Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Was Drama Queen every properly released? Unfortunately not. Billie's just sung it live a couple of times. So annoying too since it was finished and ready to go on the album but then they decided to put Murder City on instead at the last minute. They could've made it a b-side
Lena549 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I'm wondering: Green Day and the Offspring don't like each other, do they?
Satan Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I'm wondering: Green Day and the Offspring don't like each other, do they? dear god, i hope they like each other /not helpful
Heather. Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Thanks for the info about Drama Queen---that's a relief he doesn't have a secret kid haha. Although it makes the song less sentimental and more... creepy! All I know is that my friend whose favorite band is The Offspring has no respect for Green Day. (We're not friends anymore)
pasalaska Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I'm fairly sure that I've read somewhere that Green Day is kinda ambivalent towards the Offspring, and vice-versa... and Drama Queen I saw it live at a soundcheck, I had chills. I love it.

Liam Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I find it creepy that Billie makes a reference to girls time of the month in the song "She's old enough to bleed now"
Hermione Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I find it creepy that Billie makes a reference to girls time of the month in the song "She's old enough to bleed now" Me too! That's why it would be much more weird/creepy/inappropriate if it was a sentimental song about a family member. As it's a comment on obsession with celebrity it's meant to be a creepy song for a creepy subject.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Couldn't the bleed thing be something like "she's old enough to get into the real world now", the real world is tough and you can get hurt --> bleed. Father made his daughter into a drama queen/celebrity type of person, and eventually they shove their kid into the showbusiness or whatever because they're old enough to "bleed". Don't know though. Have to admit that bleeding as in time of the month is more obvious. I'm wondering: Green Day and the Offspring don't like each other, do they? In addition to what has already been said; Glen just posted this in the Random News thread: The guitarist Noodles from the Offspring mentioned Green Day in an interview, talked about the long rumoured "rivalry" between the 2 bands

I agree, I think that's the main meaning of it. But I think it's also a deliberate reference to starting getting periods (another sign of getting older) as a double meaning/metaphor.
pasalaska Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 People are creeped out about Billie referencing periods? I am the only one that giggles at Red Tide then?

Hermione Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 People are creeped out about Billie referencing periods? I am the only one that giggles at Red Tide then? Not really, but a father talking about his daughter saying "she's old enough to bleed now" would be pretty creepy. Despite the fact it's about periods I find Red Tide rather sexy , so it clearly doesn't creep me out on there
Karen. Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I always interpreted it the same way. Me too. As for Red Tide, I don't hold the Rev up to the same high lyrical standard. He'll sign about anything.
Liam Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 People are creeped out about Billie referencing periods? I am the only one that giggles at Red Tide then? You had to ruin my favourite Foxies song didn't you
Hermione Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 You had to ruin my favourite Foxies song didn't you Hahaha! It's more about PMS than the "red tide" itself though. So it's not so bad
pasalaska Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 You had to ruin my favourite Foxies song didn't you NAW I just made a boy uncomfortable by talking about menstruation. cute. TAMPONS. SANNY PADS. CRAMPS.
bloodsexbooze31 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 is there a difference in sound between the reprise version and the lookout version of kerpunk?
green day is Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 is there a difference in sound between the reprise version and the lookout version of kerpunk? The Lookout version has more of a hip-hop influence than the Reprise version.
