oda Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Question about lyrics in JOS: Billie Joe always sings "It's beating out of time" live, but in the booklet it says "We're beating out of time." I never use the second option, but I was just wondering which one is actually right.. When in doubt I just have to ask it here Yeah it's "It's". I learned that the hard way after carefully making all the letters from that quote by hand to put up on my wall, then realizing i made a mistake
Katarina. Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I hear "it's beating" too, which makes sense because Billie Joe talks about "one's heart". Plus, it wouldn't be the first mistake in a booklet! Yeah it's "It's". I learned that the hard way after carefully making all the letters from that quote by hand to put up on my wall, then realizing i made a mistake Thanks for replying! I thought it was "it's" as well, it makes sense.
agrizotti Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 He's just saying he called him his "uncle" not his "brother". Which is correct, my mistake. The thing that amuses me is in this old video Billie said his surname was Armstrong and joked that his grandfather was the first man to walk on the moon. Obviously he's found that idea funny for a long time Does anybody know where I can find the longer version of this video? (I couldn't find on the video section)
stuart_and_the_ave Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Does anybody know where I can find the longer version of this video? (I couldn't find on the video section) It's in the video downloads http://www.greendaycommunity.org/topic/40567-documentaries/, its called 1991 tour video
Heather. Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I was just wondering if the band (in particular Billie, being the singer) has ever talked about smoking (cigarettes)? Do we know how often he smokes/how addicted he is, or if it's more of a 'social thing'? More than likely he's a regular smoker, but I was just curious because there are some singers that I am a fan of that have quit smoking and there is a marked improvement in their vocals a few years later.... We see Billie smoking sometimes but not that often...
Jaymee!! Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Aska and I just finished listening to London Calling, and this something neither one of us have ever noticed before: at the end of the song, the exact same beeping sound plays as in the ending/transition/beginning of Last Of The American Girls/Murder City. A) Has anyone else ever noticed this? B) Is that where they (Green Day) got the idea from? Everyone knows that The Clash are a major major major influence on the band, and 21st CB was credited to have some Who/Clash homages, so it seems to make a whole deal of sense...to me anyway. Yeah I noticed that the first time I heard 21CB, definitely a homage to The Clash. I always figured the radio part at the start of EJN was a Ramones thing too (RnR Radio)

Yeah, I noticed it a couple months ago when I was listening to it. Funny I only noticed it after listening to LOTAG/MC a lot of times, then London Calling, instead of thinking about London Calling while listening to the Green Day song. No idea if it's a reference to the Clash, but I agree with you that it makes sense.

We see Billie smoking sometimes but not that often... I don't think they've ever talked about it. I know Billie didn't take up smoking until he was in his twenties (in that old tour video from 1991 he's offered a cigarette and says he doesn't smoke), but that's about it. Seen him do some pretty lame smoking to try and look cool where he barely inhaled in that little interview where he talked about the Rolling Stones and on stage which I guess is more like social smoking, but I'm pretty sure he is a regular smoker too.
Fuzzy Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Im pretty sure hes just a casual smoker... Has one here and there when he smokes and shit...
Katarina. Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I'm not sure where to ask this question, but I guess this is the right place: does anyone here own an Adeline Records shirt from the Eco-friendly series? Is the size t-shirt you bought like you expected, or is it smaller/bigger? I'd like to buy one of the shirts, but I'm not sure if I should get an S or M.
Karen. Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I have the exact same question about Adeline shirts - I feel a purchase coming on. Guidance would be appreciated.

Found they were a little bigger than I was expecting and I got medium (I tend to err on the side of caution, I'm hardly a stick figure! ). They still fit well, just a little baggy that's all.
InvaderPhantom Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Does anyone know where this is from? Or is it fan-made?

Thanks for the reply! Idk if you ever bought a Green Day band shirt (not the girly ones, the men/normal ones). If so, are the sizes the same that way? Like, GD shirt size M is Adeline size M as well? I think I'll buy a small, especially since you're saying they're a little bigger than you were expecting. It's just that I bought a normal Adeline shirt last year, size S, and it is too small xD Does anyone know where this is from? Or is it fan-made? http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_loqj76Pnqy1qdpmnuo1_500.jpg[/img That looks very much fan made.

(Unlike the girl t-shirts, which I think look a little nicer but are just impossible! ) Not huge or anything, but I think I'll go for the small next time.

I have two t-shirts from the Adeline eco-series, both size S, and I think that for girls they are more like a M. KMH, I think S would fit you (it'll probably be a bit too big, but they don't have smaller sizes).
pasalaska Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 (Unlike the girl t-shirts, which I think look a little nicer but are just impossible! ) The Green Day girls shirts are funny sizes. I'm usually an M in girl-fit shirts, and my Green Day ones are all larges. They're strangely small for what it says on the label
