jenni Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Thanks for the link! I downloaded the megaupload, but it only seems to have 2009 on it.... is it all just somewhere in that long thread? I know you got the answer, but that's really weird. I mean, I downloaded it a few months ago, and I could see dates from 1987 to 2010. (/end of very helpful comment!)
Sweet Armataged Chump Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Does Billie really use his guitar Azul for Cigarettes and Valentines? It shows it on the Live video.
jamesobxfan2296 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Does Billie really use his guitar Azul for Cigarettes and Valentines? It shows it on the Live video. You mean on Awesome as F**K? That's a Gibson Les Paul jr. I've watched videos from YouTube of C&V and in most of them he used that same guitar. Also here's my question to anyone who will answer. Does Green Day own there stage decorations (lighting and the platform Tre's drum kit sat on during the 21st CBD tour) or is it all leased to them by another company? EDIT: I'll add a 2nd question. I saw a quote where Billie said he was agnostic but was a fan of Catholic symbolism. Is that still true? Also Green Day is pretty much an agnostic band right?
BJA TC MD Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Does anyone know who that is talking in the beginning and end of the Nice Guys Finish Last vid??
JDookie Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Does anyone know who that is talking in the beginning and end of the Nice Guys Finish Last vid?? Wikipedia says it's a voice which emulate the one of a narrator called John Facenda. Wikipedia's article
deadair Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 So I know Billie has multiple versions of his Blue guitar. Have they ever put a replica of that guitar on the public market?
Tripe Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 So I know Billie has multiple versions of his Blue guitar. Have they ever put a replica of that guitar on the public market? Nope. Although plenty of people have made their own and modeled it after one time period or another. There aren't multiple versions of Blue anymore, to my knowledge. Just the original, which you saw on tour throughout 2009-2010, and one similar (Azul) used for the South American portion of the tour while the original was getting some repairs. At one time, there were others, but they have since been broken/destroyed or given away.

I don't think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) Billie Joe was actually giving away a copy of "Blue" during the 21st CBD tour. He was playing a different guitar and gave it to the fan he pulled on stage to sing Longview then one a tech guy brought out a copy of "Blue" to replace the guitar that Billie gave away. But anyway, to the person who was asking about "blue". Yeah just like Tripe said, people make them. You can probably find tutorials on YouTube on how to make it if that's what you wanna do. Here are the decals Billie has or has had on "Blue." You can download them and print them free of charge.

But he mentioned at one point that all the replicas he used to use during Nimrod/Warning times had been broken up, destroyed or given away over time, so it's possible he gave some of them away to people he knows.

Oh really I didn't know that. Also, I don't think Billie gave any guitars on the European tour last year did he? I think he made the fans pulled on stage do stage dives. correct?
Heather. Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 EDIT: I'll add a 2nd question. I saw a quote where Billie said he was agnostic but was a fan of Catholic symbolism. Is that still true? Also Green Day is pretty much an agnostic band right? That definitely seems to be true for Billie Joe. Someone posted a picture once of inside his house, how he collects rosaries and Catholic iconography, etc. He's said he believes in saying last rites, just in case... so yes, he's pretty much agnostic. There was an interview once during AI I believe (I think it was in Italy) where they asked them if they believed in God, Tre made a Tre-like comment that I don't recall, but made it seem like he definitely doesn't, and Mike just said he bases all his beliefs on Star Wars... they kind of skirt around the issue but I know Mike has said he is 'spiritual' which can probably be labeled as 'agnostic' if you really care to do so. Billie didn't end up answering the question.

He didn't, as far as I know, until Paris on June 26th - the girl that sung Longview was so good, that he gave one of his Fender telecasters - the one with the FBHT Mother Mary sticker on it (usually they just give away Squires). From then on, they gave away guitars in Europe as far as I can remember.
Gwen Stacy Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Why is the cafe Rudy'sCan't Fail Cafe and the song is Rudie Can't Fail. I'm assuming copyright issues. Am I wrong?
Hermione Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Why is the cafe Rudy'sCan't Fail Cafe and the song is Rudie Can't Fail. I'm assuming copyright issues. Am I wrong? I think it's just because it sounds better. You know how you get cafes called "Tommy's" or "Mama's". Rudy's Can't Fail (with Rudy's as a nickname) is much a better name for a cafe than Rudie Can't Fail. Edit: Oh hang on I was only thinking about the 's part not the y and ie. I guess they could've just caled it Rudie's Can't Fail. Maybe it is something to do with copyright then.
BJA TC MD Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 In te bottom left of the 21st Century Breakdown artwork, there is this thing and I don't know what it is. Too me it looks like a 13, a B or half a butterfly (probably not that), 13 seems likely to me for Class of 13. Anyone know what it is and what it means?
deadair Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Did John Kiffmeyer EVER mention Green Day in an interview or even do an interview since he left Green Day? Just asking because I don't know of one. When I first heard Green Day was going to have a Behind The Music: Remastered episode I was hoping there would be interview clips with John for when they would talk about the early part of their career, but like usual there wasn't. I've always wanted to see or read an interview with him talking about his time in Green Day.

Hermione Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 From everything Aaron Cometbus said about John in In China With Green Day I get the impression that ever since he left the band he hasn't wanted to be associated with Green Day. Pretty certain he's never been interviewed about it and I don't think he ever would. According to Aaron he's done everything he can to distance himself from it, to the extent that he doesn't even cash his royalty cheques from the first album.
deadair Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 he doesn't even cash his royalty cheques from the first album. Wow, that's rare that someone isn't in it for the money. That's actually surprising assuming it's true.
Hermione Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Wow, that's rare that someone isn't in it for the money. That's actually surprising assuming it's true. Yeah, obviously that's just according to Aaron so I dunno if it's completely true or not (in the zine he mentions it in a letter he was writing to John while he was there on tour with Green Day though, so I guess that's what John's told him). But either way it seems like he's definitely wanted to distance himself from the band.
jamesobxfan2296 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Does anyone know who dressed up as "Neil Armstrong" in the space suit on stage when Green Day played "King For A Day" on last year's tour?
jtdscape Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 According to Aaron he's done everything he can to distance himself from it, to the extent that he doesn't even cash his royalty cheques from the first album. Now that you mention it, I do remember reading that too. That surprised me a bit. I would have thought he would have been proud.
Hermione Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Does anyone know who dressed up as "Neil Armstrong" in the space suit on stage when Green Day played "King For A Day" on last year's tour? Billie's "brother" Neil Armstrong. It was Jason White.
oda Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Have you guys seen the vh1 behind the music? (off course you have) Who is that other fellow in the backround playing the guitar at some point? I don't think i've seen him before.
