kristóf Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I heard "Class of 13" comes from Billie's eldest son will degree in 2013. I think it refers to the young people [edit: or to the young rebels] or something like that.
Autumn83 Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Sounds like bleedin' to me. "Dew you get the feelin' that you've been bleedin' ". That's just how the Rev sings it being the cool 60s cat that he is, so I can see how it could sound like bleeded. I asked for a defenition, not how you pronounce it. Once again, What the hell does bleeded MEAN???
green day is Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I asked for a defenition, not how you pronounce it. Once again, What the hell does bleeded MEAN??? Bleeded isn't a real fucking word. It's bleeding. Do you get the feeling that you've been bleeding. You don't know what "Bleeding" means?
Hermione Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I asked for a defenition, not how you pronounce it. Once again, What the hell does bleeded MEAN??? It says bleeding in the song, not bleeded. All I was adding to the conversation was that the way he says bleeding sounds quite a bit like bleeded, so I could see why you heard it that way. Since he doesn't actually say bleeded I assume you no longer need a definition of bleeded. But if you still wanna know - there isn't one, it isn't a word.
La's Letterbomb Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Does anyone know the meaning behind the song "Cigarettes and Valentines"? I've had some speculation as to the message in the song but I'd like to know what it means. Thanks! All i know is that its about Aidie! Im aware that that was no help at all
Undómiel Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Ever since 21st Century Breakdown came out, the phrase "Class of 13" has been mentioned a lot. What is this supposed to mean? It's in a lot of 21st CB songs. All I thought it meant is when Joey would graduate and people of his age, the new age of disaffected youth...
Heather. Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Does anyone know exactly (or approximately...) how many shows BJA performed in on Broadway? I know he was in for "50" starting in January, and he probably did 6 or 7 before that, and then the last three weeks... but was there a final accurate tally?
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Ever since 21st Century Breakdown came out, the phrase "Class of 13" has been mentioned a lot. What is this supposed to mean? It's in a lot of 21st CB songs. It could be referring to the younger generations (those who are in high school soon to graduate and become adults.), but it also could be using the word 'class' as in a societal group, and "13" as in unlucky, or stigma. So the lower, less fortunate class of people. Both fit and could be interchangeable.

Hermione Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 You're reading into meaning that's not there. It's a reference to when his son will graduate. It is a reference to when his son will graduate, but who's to say that's the only reason he chose that phrase? Along with "bastards of 1969", it does sound like it could be a deliberately negative sounding phrase. The unfortunate "bastards" of the older generation with their problems, and the unfortunate class of unlucky 13 of the younger generation with theirs.
pasalaska Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 You're reading into meaning that's not there. It's a reference to when his son will graduate. Are you Billie Joe, Mike or Tre? no. Don't pretend you know everything, because you don't. Don't tell people they're reading things wrong when there's no evidence to the contrary. In short, stop being so rude. It's tiring.
Ingrid Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Does anyone know exactly (or approximately...) how many shows BJA performed in on Broadway? I know he was in for "50" starting in January, and he probably did 6 or 7 before that, and then the last three weeks... but was there a final accurate tally? Pretty sure it was a total of 82? 8 that one week in 2010, then the 50 starting in January, and then 24 the last three weeks.
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 You're reading into meaning that's not there. It's a reference to when his son will graduate. So you don't think it's at all possible for it to have deeper meaning than that? or even more than one meaning? Of course the obvious answer is that Joey will graduate in 2013, but there could be so much more behind that choice of words, especially in context to the song. When Billie writes a song like 21st Century Breakdown he intends it to be more than a reference to his personal life.
JDookie Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I've got 2 questions... 1. Why in this interview do they say that Nimrod is their second album with a major? Isn't it the third? 2. Why is number 27 important to Billie Joe?
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I've got 2 questions... 1. Why in this interview do they say that Nimrod is their second album with a major? Isn't it the third? The interviewer makes the mistake of saying Nimrod is their second major label album, and then Billie answers "can't wait for number three" with this kind of grin on his face, and then they all start kind of laughing and giving looks to the audience/camera. So they probably just played along and kind of made fun of the interviewer's mistake. That's how I interpreted it, anyway.
Hermione Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I've got 2 questions... 1. Why in this interview do they say that Nimrod is their second album with a major? Isn't it the third? 2. Why is number 27 important to Billie Joe? 1. The interviewer incorrectly said it was their second, so instead of correcting him Billie went along with it said "We just can't wait for number three" as a joke. That's why Billie laughed afterwards - he was taking the piss out of the interviewer for getting it wrong Edit: Or in other words what Sanne just said 2. Billie's 27 tattoo is the logo of a band called The Riverdales. They were good friends with Green Day and supported them during the Insomniac tour. I don't know if there's any other reason that number's special to him (since he also wrote a Pinhead Gunpowder song called 27), but when he was asked about that tattoo in an interview he just said it was the Riverdales logo.
Heather. Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Pretty sure it was a total of 82? 8 that one week in 2010, then the 50 starting in January, and then 24 the last three weeks. Thanks for that
JDookie Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Ahahah thank you, I haven't noticed he was joking cause I was too much concentrated to understand what he was saying without looking to the subtitles, I'm trying to improve my English 12. My question has come linking the song to the tattoo... But maybe it's just a coincidence!
jamesobxfan2296 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Was Dookie ever remastered? I just recently purchased a copy of Dookie and I'd like to know if I'm hearing the original sound or a remastered version of the album when I'm listening to it. Thanks!

jamesobxfan2296 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Nope, it's not been changed since '94 Ok. Thanks! Just wanted clarification.
Berkeley Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Sorry if it's the wrong thread, and also sorry if it's been asked already, but I really don't want to read the whole thread: What does Billie Joe say at the beginning of Holiday on Awesome As Fuck DVD? This one here: I just understand, "Do you wanna start a fucking war?! This is ....................................................................... in Tokyo! ¡Viva La Revolution!"
Heather. Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 He probably said something to the effect of "this is our night Tokyo!" except not. But probably in that spirit.
Guest EDIT Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I just understand, "Do you wanna start a fucking war?! This is at all my friends in Tokyo! ¡Viva La Revolution!"
