Green Day Question and Answer Thread

I don't recognize it. But if it's legit, that's a really good price for 5 DVD's. I bought a documentary from a music/movie store in Madison a few months ago, and although it wasn't anything fancy, I was actually pleasantly surprised. It was an independent documentary from around 2002 where they interviewed random people who were involved with Green Day in their earlier days. So I'm sure it would probably be a cool thing to have, but I wouldn't expect it to be super classy if it isn't something produced by a big name company. That's usually how it works.

yeah, i'm always a bit worried about the quality if it's not authorized. but thank you anyway! :)

How do you say 1,039? I've never actually heard it out loud, and I've asked different people (here, and on Twitter) and have come up with different answers. So I was wondering if there was a so-called 'correct' way to say it. :P

I know this is an old post, but I say 'one oh three nine'

interesting question though.

Really dumb question coming up but I wanted to make sure:

Green Day didn't do any videos for anything off 1039/SOSH or Kerplunk! did they? There's no like rare stuff kicking around?

Naw, I don't think so...they were still on an independant label at the time, so I highly doubt that they would have enough money to make a video:P

Yeah I know, but there's loads of bands who have made videos on indie labels, they're just not as widely publicised. I just wondered whether there was any that I'd missed but I don't think there is... :)

That's true. I think it was a lot less common for small bands to do that 20 years ago though, since there was no internet and the only place people would see videos is if they were played on TV. And video cameras were a bit more basic haha.

What does the symbol that St. Jimmy/Billie draws on his chest symbolize?

...The one that is the heart with a cross through it?

Like THIS?

I'm guessing it is a symbol for Rage & Love, but I don't know for sure. I don't think anybody has ever really confirmed what it means.

I asked the AI costume designer about the symbol, and she just said she made it up as a symbol for St Jimmy, so I guess it's a symbol of Rage and Love seeing as Jimmy is the manifestation of Johnny's rage and love...

The inverted cross is generally seen as a symbol for satanism so it could be the 'rage' side of Jimmy, while the heart is the 'love'

There was this thread somewhere, in either this thread, the images section, or the video subsection of the downloads section where a guy was asking about these thumbnails that looked like a video and were definitely from the 1,039 or Kerplunk! days. No one found anything, though, but it did look a lot like a music video.

Interesting :sherlock:. Maybe they did shoot something for local/college/DIY TV or something then.

Edit: Aww too slow :P

Will Green Day be coming back? Probably. Not until the new album is released though, which should take a few years.

BTW, welcome to the GDC. We're all majorly obsessed too.

This is the 3rd time you've asked and we've told you, they just got off a tour not even a year ago, wait until a new album than you will probably get a tour :)

3 Questions

1. Was "Know Your Enemy" on Awesome as Fk recorded in the 2009 or 2010 show in Manchester?

2. Has Green Day ever played in Louisville, KY?

3. How do you get up front at a Green Day show? It seems like a very hard thing to do and requires a lot of luck. If they do a tour next year coinciding with their new album (if that's released next year) I'd like to see them as part of my 16th birthday next year.

Thanks!

You just get there as early as you can and line up. There's a bit of luck involved in terms of which line they start letting in first etc, but basically the closer to the front of your line you are the closer to the front of the show you'll be able to get.

Also the Idiot Club does early entry contests for some shows where if you win you get let in before everyone else, it's usually for about 20 people. So if they do that for your show when the tour happens it might be worth joining to have the chance of winning that.

Thanks!! Have you ever been to a Green Day concert and was in the pit? I saw on the AAF dvd when they opened the doors to the venue where GD was playing, the fans started running to take their places at the front. I assume it'd be something like that. You'd have to run and hold your place at the front and NEVER leave your place because you'll never get it back I guess. Anyway, thanks again!

I know it was a page back, but the thing about Green Day making a music video before Dookie; possible. Even if it was just a home made thing. Because I found these screen caps a few years ago and have no idea what they're from in the slightest but they look pro-shot.

I could be wrong of course but if anyone could shed some light on what these are from, that'd be great haha.

The security usually hates you for running, but that's what everybody does anyway.

So, yeah... It's pretty much a free for all. The first in line/fastest runner is the first one served.
