pasalaska Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I say ten-thirty nine, but there's not a 'correct' way. That just uses the fewest syllables.
Katarina. Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 How do you say 1,039? I've never actually heard it out loud, and I've asked different people (here, and on Twitter) and have come up with different answers. So I was wondering if there was a so-called 'correct' way to say it. I don't think there's a 'correct' way to say it. Whatever you prefer I say thousand thirty nine, don't really know why, I like how it sounds I guess.

WestboundSign! Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I was browsing Formspring and I came across this quote: "Did I ever tell you guys about the time I almost broke into Big Ben? I was really drunk and ... oh wait ... my son is here, nevermind ... hey Joey! Where the fuck are ya?!" The person stated that it was from the London show on October 24 2009. Are there any videos of it? I'd love to see it. Nearly at 03:10

Jaymee!! Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 No one apart from the band knows when we'll get the next album, but late 2012 is not unreasonable. According to Billie via twitter, the band are jamming, but nothing has been said about recording. No doubt they'll be in the studio later in the year, they're not known for taking long breaks. They were recording demos on the road last tour. 'Not known for taking long breaks' 5 years Aska, 5 years
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Well you know, in the Green Day scale of things, where "soon" can mean "months", "years" or "never", five years isn't very long.
Hermione Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 How do you say 1,039? I've never actually heard it out loud, and I've asked different people (here, and on Twitter) and have come up with different answers. So I was wondering if there was a so-called 'correct' way to say it. I say "a thousand and thirty nine", as I'm English. My guess would be that Green Day would say "one thousand thirty nine", as they're American. I wonder if they've ever said it in an interview? Billie Joe probably wouldn't approve of saying it I don't conform to the way Green Day things are supposed to be said . I say Foxborough Hot Tubs

pasalaska Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 'Not known for taking long breaks' 5 years Aska, 5 years I meant breaks of not doing anything and not being in the studio
Jaymee!! Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I meant breaks of not doing anything and not being in the studio Side projects don't count in the making of a new Green Day album! And to the 1039 question: whenever I read it I always say 'one oh three nine' in my head but when I talk about it I say 'a thousand thirty nine'. I have no idea why I read it as one oh three nine, but I always have. It's the same with Gilman. 'Nine Two Four'.
Katarina. Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 It's the same with Gilman. 'Nine Two Four'. I always read it like that, and I say "nine two four" as well. I never thought it could be "nine hundred twenty four" as well xD Not that it matters, it's all the same anyway.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I say "Nine twenty-four" I do say "four oh nine" (in your coffeemaker) though. yeahh totally answering questiong and being ontopic yo.
Hermione Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Well since the subject has come up . I say Money Money Twenty Twenty, although in the song they say two thousand twenty. I'm curious, do other people say two thousand twenty?

I'm curious, do other people say two thousand twenty? Yep. Because they say it like that in the song, haha Before I heard the song I was always a bit confused, I never knew how to pronounce it. It was sometimes twenty twenty, sometimes two thousand twenty, and sometimes a mix of Dutch and English words for either two thousand or twenty. /creepy fast response

It was sometimes twenty twenty, sometimes two thousand twenty, and sometimes a mix of Dutch and English words for either two thousand or twenty. /creepy fast response I see! I went with twenty twenty straight away and never even considered anything else, probably because it's Money Money repeated so twenty twenty fits with it. Then when I heard the song, the song sounded wrong. And it still does , the thought of people saying it like that is strange to me.
Jaymee!! Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I've always said twenty twenty, and it threw me off so much when I actually heard the song for the first time I agree with you 100% Hermy!
koolkev Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere (I think it was a drumming magazine, but I'm not 100% sure) that he liked the deeper sound of the two floor toms for AI. Ok thanx. Makes sense. It's a little more akward (I've tried using 2 floors myself), but whatever works for you, Tre
Punk-tastic32 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Thanks for answering my '1039' question everyone! I like how many different ways people say it. It's kinda interesting. Well since the subject has come up . I say Money Money Twenty Twenty, although in the song they say two thousand twenty. I'm curious, do other people say two thousand twenty? I say twenty-twenty- even though the song is the other way. It seems to flow better, since 'money' repeats itself. Saying two-thousand-twenty just interrupts the whole flow and everything.
Liam Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Does anyone actually know where online you can get all of Pinhead Gunpowders albums (CD's) besides eBay and Amazon? I know Recess use to have all the reissued ones but they have nothing now and Adeline records only has one. Anyone know where?

WestboundSign! Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Billie himself says "one thousand thirty-nine" Check it out here at 0:23 I say "one thousand thirty-nine", too. But that's just because I always thought it's called so.
Pedestrian9394 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 On the subject of 1039 SOSH, I can't remember where I saw it, but Billie Joe said that he hates it when people say the whole thing, that it should just be said "Thirty-nine Smooth". Which seems weird to me, but apparently he wants to stick with that.

That was about people saying 1039/SOSH is their first album, which it isn't, because 39/Smooth is their first album, and 1039/SOSH is a compilation. Saying 1039/SOSH is their first album is what he hates. So actually what you just said is kind of the other side of what he hates, haha
