koolkev Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Because with a drum beat that simple and repetitive, it's really easy to go out of time. He had to isolate the sounds so he could keep steady. Thanks- and happy b-day
Lauralovesgreenday Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 hey just a quick one: on the spine of my 39/smooth record it says 'James, put down that skinhead!' any ideas about what this is about and what it relates to? thanks again (:
green day is Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 They put things like that on all their records. I used to know all of them, but I can't remember. Try the fun facts section on GDA.
Hermione Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 hey just a quick one: on the spine of my 39/smooth record it says 'James, put down that skinhead!' any ideas about what this is about and what it relates to? thanks again (: I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing they were probably referring to their good friend James Washburn (who's nickname is Brainstew and who they named the song after). Punks and skinheads are well known for fighting each other so they were making a jokey reference to their friend beating up skinheads. I think he was known for doing that kind of thing.
~ Walking Contradiction Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Hey guys, I've just bought Dookie on pink vinyl (made in the US, 1994) and I was wondering if it's rare or limited edition...or just hard to find and is this one a real pressing or just an imitation? mine is dark pink... thanks!

green day is Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Dookie was released on a shit-ton of different colors. It's likely just as rare as the others.
Pedestrian9394 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 I think (it would be so so awesome if it's true) in 2013/2014. That's pretty soon comparing to the time between AI-21CB. Who knows though.. (I'll come back to this post when the new album comes out, we'll see.. haha) I know this was an old question, but with the way Billie's been talking on Twitter and the fact that they were recording demos while they were touring...I don't think it would be unreasonable to hope for at least a confirmed album in 2012. Who knows how far along they are right now. I wouldn't put it past them to keep us a little in the dark. Maybe they'll have something in a year, year and a half. /optimistic
Kilgores Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Hy, guys! I'm looking for a tab of good riddance awesome as fuck version. Anybody know things like this? Thanks
Sweet Armataged Chump Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Does anyone know what Billie Joe says at 1:40?
green day is Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Hy, guys! I'm looking for a tab of good riddance awesome as fuck version. Anybody know things like this? Thanks try the guitar tabs thread. It's stickied somewhere, probably The Underground, but I'm not sure.
koolkev Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Any of y'all know why/when Tre switched from two rack toms and one floor Tom to one rack tom and two floor toms?
AWWNA Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I couldn't find the answer anywhere on the forum - or I just suck at searching - so i'll ask here. So, I was watching International Supervideos with subtitles on a few days ago. I noticed that on longview, the subtitles said that "I was slipping away to paradise" would be "Oh, show me the way to paradise". I know that in the Dookies booklet it's "slipping away to paradise", but to me it sounds like Billie's singing "Oh, show me the way to paradise", so I don't know which one is right. What do you think? The question might be a little confusing, but try to understand it. (:

Plus, if you listen to the demos, Billie Joe sings "take me away to paradise", which is closer to "slipping" than "show me the way"

pasalaska Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Any of y'all know why/when Tre switched from two rack toms and one floor Tom to one rack tom and two floor toms? I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere (I think it was a drumming magazine, but I'm not 100% sure) that he liked the deeper sound of the two floor toms for AI.
jamesobxfan2296 Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Any idea when a new GD record could come out? 2012? Anyone think they're currently in the studio or will be in the studio this year? Thanks!
pasalaska Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Any idea when a new GD record could come out? 2012? Anyone think they're currently in the studio or will be in the studio this year? Thanks! No one apart from the band knows when we'll get the next album, but late 2012 is not unreasonable. According to Billie via twitter, the band are jamming, but nothing has been said about recording. No doubt they'll be in the studio later in the year, they're not known for taking long breaks. They were recording demos on the road last tour.
Zelda Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I was browsing Formspring and I came across this quote: "Did I ever tell you guys about the time I almost broke into Big Ben? I was really drunk and ... oh wait ... my son is here, nevermind ... hey Joey! Where the fuck are ya?!" The person stated that it was from the London show on October 24 2009. Are there any videos of it? I'd love to see it.
Punk-tastic32 Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 How do you say 1,039? I've never actually heard it out loud, and I've asked different people (here, and on Twitter) and have come up with different answers. So I was wondering if there was a so-called 'correct' way to say it.
