Question of the day: does Mike still use the Gibson G 3 bass? I read somewhere that Tre broke the original one (correct me if I'm wrong) but I saw a video of him in a 2010 GD concert playing a Gibson G 3.

Thanks!

He definitely doesn't use it that often, but on the last tour at the Montreal stop he brought it out for a few of the older songs...

I've never heard about the original one breaking, but it's always possible that he got it fixed (or it was just a replacement that he used in Montreal)...

I've not heard that Tre broke the original, but I did hear that the original did get broken.

However, the one he pulled out for a few of the North American dates in 2010 looked very much like the original - it was really old and battered and had tape all over it. I'd say it was.

What I heard was after a show one time, Tre was trying to show a fan how spin it on his back and he ended up dropping it and breaking it. After that Billie bought him a brand new one and some time later he made the deal with Fender to make a signature model

EDIT: Heres what it says from wikipedia (if you wanna believe it):

He used to play a Gibson G3 bass, but during Nimrod., Tré Cool accidentally broke it on stage trying to show fan Brendan Taylor how to spin a bass around his back. Armstrong then sent Dirnt's bass tech out to get him a new bass. It resulted in a '69 Fender Precision Bass. He later asked Fender to make him a custom P-Bass, and the result is modeled after the '51 P-Bass with a '59 Custom Shop "Hot Rod" Split-Coil Pickup, a BadAss II bridge and a thinner neck. It was released in early 2004.

Yeah I've heard that story about Tre breaking Mike's bass on stage too, can't remember where but I've heard it more than once and not just on Wikipedia. Wonder where that info came from, anyone know anything about it?

I think there was an interview with Tre where he was asked if he felt guilty for breaking all those slingerland drums and he said the only time he broke something and felt guilty was when he spiked Mike's bass on stage. Can't remember the magazine.

Ahh that sounds familiar! I was really just wondering if it's true or not, from you reminding me of that I'm pretty sure it is.

Doesn't he say that at every show?

Guys! I was reading Tre's wiki site, and I found at his discography an unknown (for me) Network album, called Omega 3000. Whats this?

It's supposedly the title for the next Network album, but nothing has been confirmed. I think it was John Roecker that said the name on facebook or something like that.

Is John Roecker The Network's manager? I know he directed a ton of shit, but I think I remember him being TN's manager.

Nah John Roecker's Network alter ego "Svengali" is their "manager", but it's just pretend. That'll be where you remember that from. You can see him playing the Svengali manager character on The Network's DVD, doing the intro and at the amusing press conference at the end.

Speaking of which I'm pretty sure Roecker just made up that Omega 3000 thing. He said it on that radio show he used to do, I don't believe a word of it.

Okay, I'm going to feel like a bad fan for asking this. :pinch:

Does Mike actually sing the Nobody Likes you segment of Homecoming? Because I swear, it sounds a lot like Billie...

He does. I didn't know it was him for AGES as I'm so bad at recognizing voices , but once you know it's Mike you can really tell it's him.

I think maybe singing backup/harmonies with Billie for so long means their voices do have some similarities though. Took me a long time to realize it was Mike singing half The Network's songs.

Ah, I'm glad I wasn't the only one.

Thanks for answering . :)

Is it true they only made 100? I'm pretty sure there are a lot more than that.
