Jimmy Strummer Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Is there ANYWHERE left that sells Adeline Street gear that's not on the Adeline Records website? I miss having more than just a track jacket and wristband. EDIT: Okay, found one (http://www.kt8merch.com/store/pages/6225/Adeline_Street.htm), but is there anywhere else?
Metanoia Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 sorry for getting offtopic, but I see you changed your username now xD
Jimmy Strummer Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 sorry for getting offtopic, but I see you changed your username now xD Haha, yes I did. Not only because of what we talked about in the Masturbation thread, but because I normally go by this one anyway.
Metanoia Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Haha, yes I did. Not only because of what we talked about in the Masturbation thread, but because I normally go by this one anyway. Yeah its a cool one I like it!
Jimmy Strummer Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Thanks! So back on topic, if anyone knows any places that still sell Adeline Street merch other than the Adeline Records store and the one I put a link to, that'd be great.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 In the Cometbus thread, this (paraphrased) quote from Billie was mentioned: "I fucking hate college kids. They're handed this education and opportunity from their parent's bank account." Does anyone know where that came from? I'd really like to know in what context that giant ass of an unreasonable generalisation was made.

They're handed this education and opportunity from their parent's bank account." Does anyone know where that came from? I'd really like to know in what context that giant ass of an unreasonable generalisation was made. This is the whole quote I believe: "I fucking hate college students, to tell you the truth, because they've been able to go to school, get an education, live in the dorms, and get a free ride from their parents. I'm also envious, because I never had that opportunity to learn. I wrote a song on the new album called 'Brat' about waiting for your parents to die so you can get your inheritance. Which my son will probably be singing one day himself." I don't know in which context he said that and I don't know from which interview it is either, but it's definitly during the insomniac era. Hope that helps (:
Guest EDIT Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 What happened to GDA Download of the Week? Also, is there ever going to be a chance to get the multitracks again? Thanks!
PunkRocks and Coke Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 is that supposed to be Larry Livermore at 4:12? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS6cRPTDQjA
Ellenkc Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 is that supposed to be Larry Livermore at 4:12? No, I can kind of see the resemblance though. It's just a random punk in the audience.
Liam Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 What happened to GDA Download of the Week? Also, is there ever going to be a chance to get the multitracks again? Thanks! It just kinda vanished, none of the mods bothered to do it. And no there won't be a chance to get the multitracks again, they are banned because they are copyrighted material and its gonna stay that way, sorry.

They aren't banned because they're copyrighted, they aren't they're banned because they "don't want GDC to be a place where people gather to try to crack the encryption on .moggs"
Guest EDIT Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I was afraid of that. Are the Dookie Demos around anywhere?
green day is Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I was afraid of that. Are the Dookie Demos around anywhere? Second page of the audio section. I have a thread. If the download links are down/removed, just tell me and I'll re-upload.
-Billiejoezee- Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 This is the whole quote I believe: I don't know in which context he said that and I don't know from which interview it is either, but it's definitly during the insomniac era. Hope that helps (: That text made me wanna cry. I have nothing against him for saying it... it's normal for him to feel envious. He didn't have that opportunity, he probably wanted to be able to have the chance to go to college if he wanted to. But he couldn't because he was poor.

Hope that helps (: Wow, because everyone who goes to college obviously get everything without working for it and just use their parents for their money. Hell, of course everyone who goes to college doesn't have to pay a penny for it. Damn, he's got a lot of faith in young people. Sorry, that just pisses me off, envy on his part or not. thanks for finding the quote, though That text made me wanna cry. I have nothing against him for saying it... it's normal for him to feel envious. He didn't have that opportunity, he probably wanted to be able to have the chance to go to college if he wanted to. But he couldn't because he was poor. he quit high school for the band... I mean, yeah, it's sad he didn't have that opportunity or whatever, but if you quit high school a couple of months before you graduate, I wouldn't say he wanted it that bad at the time anyway. and don't wrongfully generalize and insult people, and proceed to say that you're envious of them. fucking hell. edit: that last sentence was @Billie, haha.
Fanny. Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 That text made me wanna cry. I have nothing against him for saying it... it's normal for him to feel envious. He didn't have that opportunity, he probably wanted to be able to have the chance to go to college if he wanted to. But he couldn't because he was poor. Being envious of something you don’t have and want is a feeling that everyone have experienced, but to hate those people because they’ve had opportunities you didn’t get just goes way too far imo. It's sad he couldn't have that chance to go to college but like Sanne said, if he quit high school to focus more on the band, he wasn't that passionate about pursuing there.. Wow, because everyone who goes to college obviously get everything without working for it and just use their parents for their money. Hell, of course everyone who goes to college doesn't have to pay a penny for it. Damn, he's got a lot of faith in young people. Sorry, that just pisses me off, envy on his part or not. thanks for finding the quote, though Yeah it’s not like college students don’t work their asses off and get everything they want by their parents. I’m sure it’s the case for some of them, but to generalize and say that everyone who goes to college is like that isn’t right. Well now that it's been over a decade since he said that, maybe he sees the whole thing a bit differently.. And you're welcome btw
Greenlakeman7 Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 When will Green Day release 2011 Tour Dates?
Nele Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 ^It's highly unlikely that Green Day'll tour this year. That text made me wanna cry. I have nothing against him for saying it... it's normal for him to feel envious. He didn't have that opportunity, he probably wanted to be able to have the chance to go to college if he wanted to. But he couldn't because he was poor. He wanted to go to college sooo badly, so he quit high school the day he turned 18...
Zelda Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 When will Green Day release 2011 Tour Dates? They've already finished the 21CB tour, so there's very little chance that they would announce any new tour dates. It'll be a few years before they start touring again. Can anyone tell me where the quote from Mike about Tre's 'huge, overlapping foreskin' is from?
-Billiejoezee- Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 ^It's highly unlikely that Green Day'll tour this year. He wanted to go to college sooo badly, so he quit high school the day he turned 18... no but I mean, maybe he wanted to go to college later on. If he didn't then why would he even mention that he never had that chance?
Hermione Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Don't forget he said that when he was still young himself, only 23. It's likely his views on education (as well as many other things) will have changed since then.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 F school! cool story bro. why this thread though?
green day is Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 cool story bro. why this thread though? The discussion of Billie's opinions of college kids provoked it, I'd imagine. This isn't directly related to GD, it's related to GDC/GDA which is related to GD, but which person on the podcast is who on the forum? So far I know that GreenDayTone is Tony, gdkid2010 is either Matt or Mikey, and Andres is obviously Andres.
