pasalaska Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 mine would have to be Going To Pasalacqua it's my favourite song, and I remember the first time I heard it live so vividly. Billie was grinning at me throughout the song, and all my friends around me just grabbed me and pulled me into a massive hug while I bawled like a baby plus, the lyrics are even more relevant to me now; "take my hand and run away", just sums up the idea of going around the world, following the live tour.
jake smith Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 i would have to say J.A.R because it always makes me think of an old friend of me and my brothers. he was at univeristy in his first year, and i had know him since i was about 8 years old. a few months ago we found out he had caught meningitis and died after he had got back home, so when i hear that song i think of him

Yeah, this is mine too! I remember the first time I heard it, I just thought it was such a great song. Then seeing it live made me fall in love with it all over again. It's the opening lyrics for me: "Here we go again, infatuation touches me just when I thought that it would end" Those lyrics epitomise my feelings for this band because just when I think I couldn't love them more, they do something else new and brilliant and it is kind of like rediscovering them all over again! If that makes sense.....

jos_whatsername Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 first, BOBD. because it's the very first green day song i've ever heard and it's just .. it really means a lot to me. then 21 guns because i heard it live 2 times and it was incredible. and during the hannover show, billie looked and smiled at me during 21 guns also when i first got 21CB, i had 21guns on repeat for like a month or so. dominated love slave always makes me happy and last but not least only of you.. the exact same thing happened to me just when i started to love that song to it kinda has a sad touch also, but mostly i love it. i feel kind of nostalgic when listening to it, actually.
V@L3 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 LOTS -when its time -WMUWSE -letterbomb -basket case -21 guns -see the light -viva la gloria! -bobd -holiday -homecoming -waiting -macys day parade -stuck with me -nice guys finish last -good riddance -prosthetic head -scattered omg theres lots of them
Libby :) Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Most of the songs relate to me, like other people have said to me before, that's why I love their music, because I can relate. But She, Good Riddance, Minority, 21 Guns, Reject, Wake me up when September Ends, those are just a few.
HitmonSal Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 One song that can guarantee to make me cry is the cover of Working Class Hero. Some of the lyrics really reflect my childhood.
beejeezee Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 -Wake Me Up When September Ends -Jesus Of Suburbia -Homecoming -21 Guns -See The Light -iViva La Gloria! -Last Night On Earth -Are We The Waiting -Restless Heart Syndrome -Macy's Day Parade -Good Riddance -Give Me Novacaine -Boulevard Of Broken Dreams All these songs really make me emotional, and depending on my mood either cheer me up or make me cry. And Mechanical Man from Live Freaky! Die Freaky! gets me a bit emotional, I think it's just Billie's singing though
Ally Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 21 Guns makes me cry, but not for the reason that most other people cry at me. I've got to the point where I have to watch the video witht he sound muted I just can't bear to hear it. St Jimmy, depending on my mood, usually maked me happy, or al least calms me down when i'm angry or depressed or whatever, and its always the song a resort to when i'm in a depressive mood since thats what saved me from suicide before. 21st CB makes me insanely happy and (Give me novacaine for the same reason) cos it reminds me of the best night of my life
Mr. Boron Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 American Idiot, because it's the first Green Day song I've ever heard (I think). Jackass, because I am one sometimes. And She, simply because it is my favourite and the way Billie, Mike and Tré create harmony in this song is breathtaking.
Zelda Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 JOS and BOBD I relate to them more than any other songs.
Graysen Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I have a strong connection to Are We the Waiting. I remember the first time I had heard the song, and I was just completely enthralled. It is a stunningly beautiful song that holds a strong meaning to me. I particularly love the lyrics, skyscrapers, stargazers in my head. I always dream about leaving my life behind and just running away to a city. I feel more connected to...life when I am just lost amongst the numerous buildings and people within a city. I got those lyrics tattooed on my right foot over the winter break just before I went to NYC for the second time last year.
Sabz Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Theres so many but at the moment When I Come Around and Macys Day Parade
-Billiejoezee- Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Pulling teeth makes me do everything. Macys Day Parade
A Killjoy from Detroit Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Jesus of Suburbia. That was the song that truly got me into the band, particularly the lyrics "...the motto was just a lie. It says home is where your heart is but what a shame, cuz everyones heart doesn't beat the same." I know those are probably a lot of people favorite lyrics but they still get me super emotional. They're just so profound and the really hit home.
Uva Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 possibly it's Restless heart syndrome that exactly describes my state, my feelings in different ways) but "When I come around" means something to me because it's my favorite))) Also "Homecoming" beacuase wherever I go I always come back home, damn it!
clausel Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Wake me up when september ends is really a song I can relate to. I really had the fight back the tears when Billie played the first 3 strings on the song when I saw them last time. Every time something bad happens I just wanna sleep right through it and wake up happy. Good Riddance will always be a special song to me. I got a tattoo with the chorus written on my back and it was the first song I learned to play on the guitar. Also I can always relate to it. When its time is also very special to me. Really a beautiful song and first time I heard it was when I met my girlfriend at a Green day concert. And it helps a bit that my girlfriend loves it to
Spizz Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Scattered--old friends and things Do Da Da (from Insomniac)-- Pretty much the definition of who I am! Almost all of the lyrics I relate to Macy's Day Parade--Really hits me hard like the first verses of Uptight does, only a lot heavier And Jesus of Suburbia was a nonstop anthem running over and over in my mind for almost 3 months last year...mixed with Macy's Day Parade it'd make me sadder, but feel better...The music said the things I couldn't say or hear from anyone else
groundpatty Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Ultimately, my favorite Green Day songs are the ones that are fun, uplifting, arena rock-type songs, because those are the most fun to blast in the car on the interstate and sing my heart out to. "21st Century Breakdown" "Static Age" "American Eulogy" "See the Light" "Uptight" (the 2nd half of the song, mainly) "Quick One While He's Away" (the ending is the best. You are forgivveeeennnn!!!!) "Are We the Waiting" "21 Guns" - AI Cast Version with Billie... that last part with the whole chorus gives me chills every time. But if im feeling sad... I most often associate with "Macy's Day Parade." It just always fits. And sometimes "Walking Alone"
AnnA™ Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Already posted here. But the other day I realized I feel so weird listening to When It's Time, live versions at least. Sometimes I start crying as soon as Billie starts singing. Don't know what it is. At first I thought it was just how I missed them after my last show 'cause I was so depressed, but it still gets to me almost everytime... but "When I come around" means something to me because it's my favorite))) Also "Homecoming" beacuase wherever I go I always come back home, damn it! Same here!
LauraG Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 There's no way I could listen to Wake me up when September ends without crying. I lost my father a few years ago and that song It's too much of an emotion for me. The last part of 21 guns always hits me too. The songs that cheer me up are Poprocks and coke, Ah ah you´re dead, Church on Sunday and Dominated love slave.
solongfromthestars Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Lately Good Riddance has set me off snivelling because of the memories attached to it. They seem so far away now like they happened in some other world away from this crappy life in England. I suppose they did except for the other world part. Jesus of Suburbia and 21st Century Breakdown really make me think. I never used to notice, but I can really relate to both of them. And of course 21 Guns. The meaning of the song in the concept of the album, the personal relation to it and the experience of seeing it live makes it a really emotional song for me. You could break my nose and call me a million names and I wouldn't cry, but emotional songs set me off every time St Jimmy, depending on my mood, usually maked me happy, or al least calms me down when i'm angry or depressed or whatever, and its always the song a resort to when i'm in a depressive mood since thats what saved me from suicide before. I'm exactly like that with Viva La Gloria
Emilie Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Only a few songs get me really emotional, because they could have been written about me, basically. Or about someone I'm very close to. She Restless Heart Syndrome Jesus Of Suburbia Boulevard of Broken Dreams A few others I can't think of now.
scattered123 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Sometimes when I'm feeling down, I listen to BOBD, and that reminds me of how much i really love them. And I really do, from the bottom to the top of my heartAnd rotting makes me cry
