AndrewW91 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Well, if you observe carefully, people mostly GIRLY GIRLS who look sexy are being picked by Billie. WHY THE HELL WOULD HE PICK A GIRL WHO DOESN'T EVEN KNOW THE LYRICS OF LONGVIEW BUT PRETEND TO BE KNOWING IT AND CAN'T JUMP OFF THE STAGE? I always get annoyed by the fact that Billie is prefering girls to boys! Each concert I've been to, he's chosen a boy. The first time he picked a girl, and then a guy because she wasn't doing too well. Mabye Billie joe spins a wheel before the show for who to pick...like "wearing clothes" "is a human" .. I find it offensive that he's never chosen a cat.
Guest Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 i'm pretty sure he picks people who stick out from everyone else, hence why a lot of times he picks people with the colored hair, mohawks, and all that. during one of the concerts i went to, i kept noticing him looking at my friend's shirt that had a picture of johnny cash flipping off the camera on it and then sure enough he picked her to go up during are we the waiting.
bollard_11 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Everyone who has been on stage has been picked before the show and the band have told them where to stand. Its all a conspiracy. Or a psychic connection. Or something

Its all a conspiracy. Or a psychic connection. Or something They're totally plants, all of them. The band sometimes use bad people so it seems as if they really pick someone from the crowd, but actually they're just plants.
in_your_face Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I never noticed that and I don't think that's the case either. Well, maybe he does pick slightly more girls than boys for longview, but I never noticed an out of proportion amount of sexy girls or anything like that. Also, you can't exactly see if someone knows the lyrics, haha. Don't worry, I'm not including you. This doesn't have any relation with you singin' Longview.
Teenage Kicks! Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 eye contact. It's all about staring him the fuck down. Well....that's what I did...the second time.

groundpatty Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I'll never forget when Green Day played the New Orleans Arena on 8/7/09. I had practiced JOS on guitar for about 3 hours, just to make sure I knew it perfectly. When I was on my way to the show, I stopped to make a sign that said "I PLAY JESUS OF SUBURBIA." the sign got confiscated when I tried to go in *sigh*. But when they were about to play JOS, Billie started looking for people to play it. I had told everyone around me I knew it, so they all pushed me to the front baracade so he could see me better. Then, it happened. Billie looked me straight in the eye. "You know how to play it?" - Billie "YES!!!!!!" - Me "Swear to God?" - Billie "SWEAR TO GOD!!!!" - Me "..... Ah, you dont know how to play it. WHO KNOWS HOW TO PLAY IT???" - Billie as he walked to the other side of the crowd. So close. And what sucks even more is that the chic he got to play didnt know the song whatsoever, so he just told her to do a stage dive barely into "City of the Damned". SMH
Boston Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I've noticed that the vast majority of his selections are men. I also hate when he fucks with people, like groundpatty. He should know that would make a person so sad.
Rebel07 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I think he takes notice to people who are singing throughout the whole show. Billie picked me for Longview during the 09 tour and he noticed me a couple times before hand singing my heart out and smiling lol
Jaymee!! Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Ok so, I must admit that is kinda creepy. HAHA. But, were you front row at antoher show? Maybe he just recognized you? That's strange. He wouldn't have said " I KNOW YOU!" haha. shit. but. that'd be cool if they knew who was going to what show haha. even if it's kinda impossible. At that time, Bill had an account on GDC. Beth sent me a message saying that he had been stalking both my profile and Carling's, during the time that The Bravery would've been on stage.
Jaymee!! Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 My theory? He runs out, looks at people, and chooses at random. Doesn't fucking matter who they are or what they look like or how many shows they've been to. Pretty much everyone is 'going crazy' and singing their hearts out at the shows, there's no way there can be ONE person that stands out above all the rest in that aspect. From his point of view, everyone looks the same. Though I HAVE found that screaming and pointing at certain people certainly helps make up his mind
farley drexel hatcher Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Yeah, didn't Larry Livermore say he just uses 'instinct'? Maybe that's just to get people to play the songs, I don't know. Would explain why he's gotten the same people up on stage more than once at difference shows XD
Rebel07 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I also hate when he fucks with people, like groundpatty. He should know that would make a person so sad. Yeah I know
Jaymee!! Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Heh in Ottawa when he was choosing someone to play JOS, he asked one kid, then tested him with 'what key is it in?' Kid didn't know, Billie moved on. And in Toronto he chose a girl from in the seats to come up and sing Longview, and when she got up there he grabbed her VIP pass and yelled, then kicked her off stage. I think both seemed fair to pass on.

Devan Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Standing on a chair, having an obnoxious orange sign, and my "Killjoy from Detroit" T-shirt did the trick for me.. And he must have believed that I knew the words.
GreenDay41 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 My guess is that its either totally random or its just the first person he sees that stands out the most in a crowd
