When I first read this I was upset because I liked Sex Pistols) but in time I find out they didn't deserve my attention.

I'm not sure I want to. The only reason one disses someone like that is because they feel inferior and want to boost their own ego.

Well technically, the band did exist before Malcolm Mclaren, but once he got a hold of them he pretty much took full control and they allowed him to do whatever he wanted -along with his designer friend- & in doing so he led the band to it's 'death'. But you do have a point there. John would not have even been in The Sex Pistols if it were not for Mclauren. As I said before I think John resents bands like Green Day because he sees the longevity and success. In his head he knows if he had only made some different choices -like not allowing Mclaren to take full advantage- he could have had a punk band done the right way. And not been in a butter commercial.

They have more punk ethic than anyone and most kids wouldn't know who Lydon was if Green Day did not have such a long career. As for Lydon 'Not doing anything right', that much is true as it became evident early on that he was Malcolm McLaren's puppet and a hypocrite to boot. Fuck off back to your rich heiress wife Lydon. Even Lady Gaga has talked about Green Day being an influence on her. Joe Strummer was the real Godfather of Punk, a true gent.

Here in Italy we say il bue che da del cornuto all'asino which is exactly like saying that if a person has a flaw, he see that one only in others. I'm wrong to say that the sex pistols are more commercial than green day ? no! i'm total right. why? Malcom McLaren made sex pistols a band. he knew these guys, and he saw money money and money. So he said to them: play, be bad and insult everybody. Morover Lydon did a realityshow and many spot. so who care about what he's saing about green day.

I don't get that, he's said it before so why does he have to keep it up. Whatever, I'm fine with it. He has his opinion and (according to most people here) he's not really relevant anymore anyway. Maybe mentioning Green Day still gets him attention. At least most of the people in the comments of that article are on Green Day's side.
