accountdeleted1203 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 the beginning is immense, the intro really builds up anticipation, then when it gets faster and the guitar is playing along with it <3 Billie Joe sings "ready for a cheap escape, on the brink of self destruction" I always get completely distracted from everything else Panic song & Brain stew are probably my 2 favourite off this album next to walking contradiction. I really hope they start to play it live Unlike most people my favourite lyric is "Torn out of reality Into a state of no opinion Limp with hate"
Vespertine Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 This is one of my favorite songs off Insomniac. It's powerful, and the lyrics are incredibly intense. In my opinion, it describes perfectly how it feels to have an anxiety disorder. "Broken glass inside my head, bleeding down these thoughts of anguish, mass confusion." This lyric is my favorite one. It's exactly how a lot of anxious people feel about intrusive thoughts, doubts and confusion. I also love it when Billie starts: "Ready for a cheap escape, on the brink of self-destruction. Widespread panic." As a person who has an anxiety disorder, I'd say it's about trying to run away from your fears, trying to avoid them, when you know that's something impossible to do. This song describes, better than any other, the state of high anxiety and confusion. It's not just another song about anger. And it's one of the most underrated Green Day songs.
in_your_face Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 This song deserves the Song of The Week title.
Heather! Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Definitely one of the best off Insomniac. The whole buildup is just... incredible.
Sarcasm Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 This song started to grow on me, like 3 years ago, I was constantly listening, but I just wanted to hear the part with the lyrics, cause they're awesome..<3
beejeezee Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I just found out that I really like this song, alot. The instrumental build-up really sets a mood for the song. I feel like the music isn't just blasting into my ears but like suffocating my brain. I always get a minor minor headache when I listen to this song for some reason. The lyrics "Torn out of reality Into a state of no opinion, Limp with hate." Really have meaning for me. I always feel like even though were told to have our own opinions I can't because someone tells me this is how to think and nothing else is acceptable. And I'm just left filled with someone elses opinions and hatred at how the world is today.
Zero. Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 It's a well done song the opening instrumental does put you on edge... But I have to admit... I really need to give this song another listen or two... I barely listen to it...
Clockwise Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 It's like the best freakout song ever. It really captures that feeling.
