koolkev Posted February 5, 2011 Author Posted February 5, 2011 Yep. like, I can't figure out which one it is until 5 secs. Yep. It's just true punk chords Don't if it's been mentionned, but Static Age and Church on Sunday are A LOT similar. Lol only 3 chords "If I promise to go to church on sunday..." "In stereo in the static aaaaaage" anyways. It's true... Idk if that has something to do with it, but you know, punk in the beginning was like 3 chords... I meant haha only 4 some times
IlariaIDIOT Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Rotting and Redundant? The drums is similar D:
koolkev Posted February 9, 2011 Author Posted February 9, 2011 Rotting and Redundant? The drums is similar D: WOW yeah I PLAY the drums and never noticed that. *Im rotting inside, my flesh turns to dust....*
green day is Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Waiting and this one song by some chick Warning and some some by The Kinks Brain Stew and Papa Roach's "Last Resort"'s rhythm guitar riff Also, two people have mentioned Alabama Song by The Doors and Little Girl, I noticed the similarity as soon as I heard the Doors song.
koolkev Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 Alabama Song is HILARIOUS. Do see the similarities, same uh.... Can't explain it
koolkev Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 Last Night on Earth and Restless Heart Syndrome are quite similar, too.
jaymanutd1 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 21 guns and blvd broken dreams are very similar i think in terms of structure etc and one i noticed quite recently is joan jetts- french song which is exactly how the start of east 12th street from homecoming.
StAndrew Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 The beginning chords and even drum intro to Chump and Westbound Sign are the exact same. Not "hey those are similar," but literally the same. Not that it bugs me...just always thought it was funny.
JDookie Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Well, maybe it's just my impression, but "the insurgency will rise etc" in Know Your Enemy reminds me of "and there's nothing wrong with me etc" in Jesus of Suburbia! And the drums in Maria (be careful what you're offering etc) of the ones in American Euology (I can hear the sound of a beating heart etc)... I can't play the drums so maybe I'm talking a nonsense!
Sanity Loan Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Well, maybe it's just my impression, but "the insurgency will rise etc" in Know Your Enemy reminds me of "and there's nothing wrong with me etc" in Jesus of Suburbia! Maybe because that's how it is done in the musical?
JDookie Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Maybe because that's how it is done in the musical? I haven't ever seen it, my pc has got some problems with watching video
Sanity Loan Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I haven't ever seen it, my pc has got some problems with watching video There is an album you know
-Billiejoezee- Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 And I think the chorus of East Jesus Nowhere sounds a little bit like the chorus of Dark Side of Night and Holiday. I always get confused with these.
koolkev Posted April 3, 2011 Author Posted April 3, 2011 ^^yeah. They just, well, go together somehow.
green day is Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 This one was obviously done on purpose, but still worth pointing out. See the Light has the same chord progression as 21CBD except a bit faster.
koolkev Posted April 3, 2011 Author Posted April 3, 2011 This one was obviously done on purpose, but still worth pointing out. See the Light has the same chord progression as 21CBD except a bit faster. Yeah. Same with the one drum beat in AI. And the Nobody Likes You thing: Letterbomb, Homecoming, WMUWSE live, etc...
Vaso.Of.Suburbia Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I think that 21 Guns and BOBD are kinda similar. Especially the acoustic parts...
Christina_Whatsername Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9X-lM8ZjuU
Hermione Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Whenever I sing along to See The Light and get to "Iiiii-iiii-iii.........I just wanna see the light" I'm quite tempted to sing "Iiiii-iiii-iii.........wanna rock and roll all night" instead
Alan86 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Nothing really similar in the how these two songs sound but I like in 21st Century Breakdown when Billie says, "From Lights early Dawn" and in static age when he almost uses the exact same lyric when he says "the dawns early light" When I hear one of those lyrics I always think of the other song too.
Jaymee!! Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I always heard a big similarity between Haushinka and American Idiot
Slappy. Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 From the very first time I heard it, I thought Cigarettes and Valentines sounded exactly like Burnout. The start bit especially.
radiofriendlyunitshifter Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 The main guitar riff of Letterbomb and the riff during the first part of the chorus of Viva La Gloria are the same. And the drum beat of Know Your Enemy and Extraordinary girl are the same (thats been pointed out before, I think).
Firebert Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 From the very first time I heard it, I thought Cigarettes and Valentines sounded exactly like Burnout. The start bit especially. Man, I was reading through this topic hoping nobody would point that out so I could. But yeah, now whenever I listen to Burnout in the car I sing the chorus of Cigarettes and Valentines and laugh at how similar they are. It's actually awesome. I think they should mash them up live sometime.

Sorry for beating you to it! haha I'm glad you agree because different people hear different things, but every time I listen to one of them it reminds me of the other. And yes they should totally do a mash up that would be awesome!
