Annie, get your gun Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 God... I miss Mike and Tré already... I think that Billie get all excited when someone talked about how charming and good performer he is. But I think he should focus on music, that's who he is. And I'm not saying that he can't do something else but being in Green Day, like if his band were his prison. Actually, I believe in him, in ALL that he can do with his wonderful talent, he's a real artist, and I'd love that he make another musical (in a R.S. interview, he said that he would like to write something completely new so Michael would direct it), even when I can't pick up a plain and fly till USA only to see HIM. But, I don't know... I can't imagine him 'acting', even if is just a musical. Anyway, anything that can keep him working with passion and stay energetic, would be great. Maybe something that involved Mikey & Tré turn everything into something espectacular! (But maybe they doesn't like so 'musical' stuff) Whatever, all I hope is NO musical for 21st Century Breakdown. And a movie of American Idiot, a 1000 times better than a musical

I'm pretty shocked that hes taken on all this work so soon after touring. ahah, dear god a 21st CBD musical!
YehItsRyan Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I can see Billie and the guys starting on GD's next album by the end of the year whilst Billie considers doing some stuff for a musical of his own. I just hope he realises it isn't fair on the fans to wait 5 years between albums, it's a hell of a long wait.
TheSaltOfTheEarth Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I'd love to see him branch out, and it would be great to see him do more Broadway stuff and all that. That man is one of the most talented writers and musicians of his generation, and I'm glad he's going to do things to make him an even greater and more acknowledged songwriter than he is now. That being said, I don't think Billie would ever let anything get in the way of him and Green Day. Ever. Seriously, I just can't imagine him putting a Broadway play, or movie, or whatever, no matter how great, before his band. I think it would just be a when-I'm-on-a-break kind of thing, if he does it. Not, "Oh, Green Day the band can be put on hold while I do this" kind of thing.
Izzard Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 He's not superman. Yeah he's an incredible guy and has done amazing things but I don't know... I can see him getting neck deep in theatre and being more than a little reluctant to return to Green Day stuff because he's having so much fun... :/ Well maybe he's starting to think about his life after Green Day. I personally think Green Day will always exist...but not too the level it does right now. Every band/musician has a, for lack of a better term, dying out faze...and maybe he knows that he can't always be Billie Joe Armstrong, the energetic little front man in Green Day but he can anchor his creative mind towards something else that he also enjoys, ie theater. I think it's great that he's found something so beautiful and creative to work with, and put his amazing mind into. I love Green Day...and I still believe they will be around for quite some time.
darenmay Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 ahh, and i just thought of his family. if being in a band and the musical do not take too much of billie's time, i guess this would already.
The Snark Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 He's the P. Diddy of Punk! I don't think we should worry about the fate of GD, because even through the side projects they've created and the musical, he's never lost sight of it. And it's already quite obvious that he can't stand to be away from the stage for more than a few weeks, so I say go for it! And I'll be busy squirreling away money for that trip to NY. Anyone else realize that we'll probably get the AI movie and a musical by Billie before HLAHG?
Guest AwesomeAsFuck Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I didn't realize there was already a topic on this but two hours ago Perez Hilton posted it on his website. Here is the link. http://perezhilton.com/2011-01-11-billie-joe-wants-to-write-another-musical
Lu. Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Ew, having him leaving the band aside because of Broadway would be awful. To me, it might happen, but he would realize and get down to work with GD, he said GD was his life and I believe him e.e
Laura! Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I don't think he'd leave Green Day behind to write a musical. I think that him writing a musical would be another side project between albums.
Burnout98 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Hmm....interesting. But seriously Billie, get to the studio and start making that new album.
justcause Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I think writing a musical from scratch would be a major project, not a side-project. It's interesting to think how it might pan out - like, would the songs be confined to wherever they're staged, or would the band perform any of them on a Green Day tour? This is new country.
The Snark Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Don't forget that he's said the only way he leaves Green Day is in a body bag. So, I don't think it'd be something like this that would break them up.
Spider Tre Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Billie, stop joking around and get your ass back to the studio
Strychnine Fink Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I was at the Times Talk and was quite excited when he mentioned that although, on the downside, that would mean he'd be less focused on Green Day and it'd probably take forevs for another album to appear. But still, I'm interested to see where this goes...
mallorymaloney Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Yeah, you guys need to relax. Billie's not going to OMGZ LEAVE GREN DEY 4 LYFE just because he said he'd consider writing something original for Broadway. He can do this AND Green Day, and if you don't believe that, then you don't have very much faith in him. I, on the other hand, do have faith in the boy, and I'm excited for whatever he and Green Day are gonna do in the future! FUCK YEAH BILLIE JOE
Silverlight Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I don't want another musical or film. I think it'd be too weird.
pasalaska Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I can't see it happeneing if it's going to affect Green Day, and if it did happen I'm sure Mike and Tre would be involved in the music writing. I don't question Billie's priorities.
BombingwithBillieJoe Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Billie, stop joking around and get your ass back to the studio This made me laugh. Anyways, to stay on topic, I am kind of mixed about it. I think it's amazing that he has this crazy desire to always try different things, and he's very inspiring that way. I think it'd be neat for him to do this. And I've loved musicals since I was fresh out of the womb, so I'm glad he's interested in something that doesn't make me cringe (I could see myself taking him less seriously if he were to become a water-color painter or something). But at the same time... I'm not worried about his abandoning Green Day or anything, I just... feel kind of wishy washy about it. I don't know what about it I don't like, just something seems a little sigh-worthy to me. Either way, whatever floats his boat
fadi_7 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 i think this will be very cool but not for billie joe that will not be cool if he will do it cause it will take all of his time just for theater and he will stop thinking about GD he will wast all of his power on this instead of wasting his energy on GD things . and there is lot of things in his life not only GD there is his family !!
M1KEY Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Billie, in my opinion, is a creative genius. He loves to challenge himself, he loves uncharted territory, and it's become more and more obvious over this past decade. While he (and the band) explores things like side projects of different genres and theatre, Green Day continues to make incredible music, so I say bring it on! I've loved everything Billie has done since 1988, whether it was Green Day or a side band or a side project or the musical, and the more variety he can throw at me, the better. I even thought his acting was great in "Haunted" (although, his little speech about adults and relationships on "The Chris Isaac Show" was truly awful). LOL I don't see Billie's desire to create outside the box really interfering with Green Day very much. We all know the band is his number one priority. If it takes a little longer for a new Green Day record to come out, but we get something from Billie or the band in the meantime, I'm ok with that. i think this will be very cool but not for billie joe that will not be cool if he will do it cause it will take all of his time just for theater and he will stop thinking about GD he will wast all of his power on this instead of wasting his energy on GD things . Punctuation is your friend. Let him into your life.
†...HAUSHINKA...† Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I don't know what to think. Theatre is awesome but... what about GD? I don't want that to take a backseat just because he's caught the theatre bug.... THIS. If it takes a little longer for a new Green Day record to come out, but we get something from Billie or the band in the meantime, I'm ok with that. I'm ok with what you said about Billie doing different things and giving to fans a lot of stuff but it's not so for all the fans; for example: for me living in italy GD music is the only thing...'cause I can't see the musical, I can't see gigs from their side projects...so I can really feel their presence just through GD stuff and if they'll take off time from GD, I'll have to wait a very long time for another album and it measn for another tour...I don't know if I was clear but this is what I think or better what I feel...'cause I'm very happy seeing BJ doing new things especially something that confirm how great he is as an artist but all this stuff makes me a little worried about how long will be my waiting for them..
Ellenkc Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 i think this will be very cool but not for billie joe that will not be cool if he will do it cause it will take all of his time just for theater and he will stop thinking about GD he will wast all of his power on this instead of wasting his energy on GD things . and there is lot of things in his life not only GD there is his family !! How is this going to be cool, if it's 'not cool' for Billie Joe to do it? That means there would be no musical. You shouldn't assume that he will put all his energy into the musical and forget about Green Day and his family, have a bit of faith and respect for the guy. He can manage his own priorities.
The Snark Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 C'mon people, just think about what kinds of new opportunities this would open up for him! Producing a reality show...his own fragrance...
Tre_Gina Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 i think this may be the wrong thread as this is about a film but hey ho! I saw this article on NME - http://www.nme.com/news/green-day/54533
