AwesomeAsFudge Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 my parent don't know that i'm Green Day fan, i never told them that i mean do they have to know ?!! my dad would be fine with that ,but i guess my mom ... uhmm won't love that =\
mahalihooishavingaGreenDay Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 my parents like them but i think they think i'm a little obsessive sometimes i think they're quite happy with the kind of music i like seeing as my sister's taste in music is awful and she insists on shoving it down our throats my parent don't know that i'm Green Day fan, i never told them that i mean do they have to know ?!! my dad would be fine with that ,but i guess my mom ... uhmm won't love that =\ why wouldn't your mum like that?
reckless Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 My parents are not much into music in general (especially my mom) so they don't really understand my 'obsession' for Green Day, but other than that they are fine with it. Sometimes I've caught them singing some of the songs or listening to some CDs in the car so yeah, they are not the biggest fans but they quite like them. They just don't understand my enthusiasm every time the words "green" and "day" are used together but they learned to accept it - as if there was a choice
Wolfdemon Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 My parents couldn't give two shits about what I listen to. Then again I am 21 soo... Even with how much conservative Christians they are, they just know if they had a problem with it I'd rebel anyway. They had to deal with that my whole life. So they don't care.
Tina Mary Keane Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 My parnets have never gave a shit about what music I listen. It was thanks to Ma I got to go to my frist Green Day concert so I know she knows the are very important to me .
Yongguk's Big Dick Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 haha xD my parents think its a little "unhealthy" to be so obsessed over anything xD but they have nothing against Green Day and they support me all the way Sometimes even they get involved in some Green Day stuff i do xD They are awesome about that ^-^ I wish everyone's parents would be like that about Green Day...but i had a friend and her parents disapproved GD and she gave up...she doesn't listen to GD anymore :/
heart on a noose Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 When i first came into Green Day my mom thought it would pass me quickly,I had to disappoint her. And i think she likes them, not as much how they look like, but she likes music. Her favorite song is American Idiot, and she have pretty epic dance on it. About my dad,he has never listened that kind of music, but he doesn't have nothing against,he lets me to bring my gd cd's on trips so i can listen them in car.
AwesomeAsFudge Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 why wouldn't your mum like that? just i don't think she will like that, she don't even listen to music and i can imagine her reaction and the face she will give with few questions about them
mahalihooishavingaGreenDay Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 just i don't think she will like that, she don't even listen to music and i can imagine her reaction and the face she will give with few questions about them i think you should just go up to her right now and say "mum... i like Green Day" it will be like coming out
Malleus Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I do not require support or permission from my parents, so they don't really give it. They know I love Green Day and they enjoy the radio hits, but that's about it.
Poprocks_and_Coke Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 My mum likes Wake me up when September ends. (She first thought that Green Day is only a phase, but it isn´t) But I´ve got the feeling that my father doesn´t like Green Day really much.
GreenRanger Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 My parents dig Green Day. The only problem my Mom has with it is that if I play songs off 21CB she'll have em stuck in her head for hours.
Stephanie. Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 my mom and dad don't like them. my mom is more into 80's R&B and my dad thinks they have crappy music... although i did catch him listening to Brain Stew in the car one day...
BrickOfSelfControl1995 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Mom is indifferent, she saw the musical on Broadway with me though and she liked it but she's not that crazy about the amount of (her) money I spend on green day items xD My dad likes American Idiot and 21CB and a little bit of their older stuff (mostly the newer), I saw Green Day with him august 2010 and he thinks theyre great live but he doesnt obsess over Green Day the way I do.
Scumbag86 Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 They don't really care what I listen to, my mom likes maybe Wake Me Up When September Ends, and 21 guns but that's it.. She basically only listens to 70's and 80's rock.. and my dad barely listens to music at all
Sarabeth Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 I think I have posted in here before, but both of my parents have changed their views on Green Day. My mom used to tell me that my "obsession" with them was unhealthy and that it would pass with time, but now she likes them a lot. She was just as excited as I was about going to see American Idiot last week. Yesterday, instead of complaining about me brooding over pictures of them, she looked at them with me. And today she showed me a video of Green Day that I've never seen before! She told me she couldn't sleep so she watched videos of them. She told me to make copies of all my CDs so she could have them in her car, and that's all we listen to when she is driving. She has also stopped complaining about my obsession. Next step: transforming her into a diehard fan! My dad... Well he still hates them, but since my mom likes them a lot he stopped trying to get me to stop listening to them. He goes out of his way to let us know he will not listen to Green Day for pleasure though. A couple hours ago I was showing my mom an interview with Green Day from 1993, and my dad walked in and said "exactly who I want my daughter to look up to. People who start talking about their drug usage right off the bat" But at least he doesn't call them evil anymore. as I'm writing this my mom said "hey Sarabeth, I recorded Behind The Music Remastered so we can watch it together. You have probably already seen it, but I'm sure you will want to watch it again" I love her.
jamesobxfan2296 Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 My mom doesn't really care. My dad tends to be judgemental when it comes to rock musicians but really I don't think he cares. He claims to like them.
Firebert Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 My parents, being conservative Christians, don't like Green Day in the slightest. If it weren't for that fact, I actually would have gone to a Green Day concert last August. I'm still kicking myself for not going anyway. Since I still live at home, I'm dealing with it rather than rebelling, because I really love my mom (dad not so much). But I'm really excited that this summer I may be moving out (at least temporarily, for an internship out of state (hopefully!)).
Danger! Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 My parents don't really mind that I play Green Day as long as its not interfering whatever they're doing. I remember this one time my Dad took me to best Buy. We must have been there for over an hour cause I was messing with the instrument department. When we were leaving the place I asked him what was in the bag and he said he bought Insomniac... I almost died of happiness. I started rambling about how magical 86, Panic Song and Westbound Sign were cause their my favorites out of the album. Once we're home I grab the bag and run to the computer room so we could the stereo to blast the cd. When I look into the bag, I don't find a Green Day cd... I find one of those backup generators for our computer. My dad was busting. I stayed quiet the rest of the night.

Danger! Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Yeah, I mean they think GD ok, they're just not huge fans of them y'know?
Zelda Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 My parents don't really care. The way I see it, as long as I'm not doing drugs and getting myself knocked up, they really wouldn't give a shit about what I listened to. My mom hates the fact that they swear, but I'm not forcing her to listen to it, so she can't really do anything. And hey, they let me put "Green Day" on my junior class ring, so that says something.

God that's cruel I would have gotten so mad at my dad Actually my dad just called Green day those californian punks you love
Emilie Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 My parents completely support me listening to them. Not so sure if they support me being on here though... I was four when International Superhits came out. Mum got it for Dad for his birthday thinking he loved Green Day, but he'd never heard of them. He liked the CD anyway, and kept it in the car for us to listen to. I kind of forgot about them when Dad moved away, but he bought AI and 21CB when they came out and still plays them in the car. I found the CDs in his bedroom one day and remembered it all, so I became a huge fan again. Even now Mum still likes to tell the story of how she got the family hooked on one of the things that makes me the happiest. Despite that, the only lyrics to any songs of theirs that she knows is "Have the time of your life"
