Well... My mum was kinda thrown in the deep end this january when we went to New York to see American Idiot. See, my sister was meant to go with us, and was supposed to go with me to see the show, but then she couldn't, so my mum took her place. Really embarrassing thing was she kept saying, "Billie Joe? I've got no idea who that is." And then after the show kept saying how little Billie is. I believe her phrase was 'runt of the litter'. Charming... But I don't think she meant it meanly.

Anyway, she liked it, and quite likes their music, my dad's not really fussed. But they're used to my obsessiveness so they just let me get on with it, and only occasionally raise an eyebrow at how much money I spend. Great thing is my sister's husband really likes Green Day too, so I occasionally get to geek out with him.

Oh, yeah...

Sorry, I was just trying to explain that that's how my parents know/have an opinion of Green Day.

Oh no I didn't mean you  lol, I was in the wrong thread not you. My bad

my mum pretends to like them, in front of my mates, to look cool

and my dad is reaaaaally religious so i gathered that he hates them...I've never asked him though xD

Ah, I see. Alrighty then :D

My mom says she likes them, but every time I turn on their music loud she is like "Shut that noise down!!!" So I'm not so sure she actually does like them... My dad admits that he hates them though

They'll put a boom box in your coffin.

Me too! :woot:

Sucks...

My parents think they're ok. My dad can get into them at times, but none of them understand that it's not a phase and that the band actually means something more than music to me.

well.. my parents are like whatever about it.. sometimes i wish they would listen to some of the songs.. sometimes i sing out loud for them to hear what the song is saying...but they just ignore it... or sometimes i'll start talking about Green Day and my mom will be doing something and I'll talking and talking and she's like "uh, oh..can you hand me that rug.. keep going" she's like hearing me without listening.. Green Day is my life and it pisses me off when i talk about someting important to me and they dont pay attention.. but i've gotten used to it and i dont let it get to me.. its not like they neglect or something they support me really.. i mean they waited with me 11 hours in line because i wanted to be in the front for a Green Day show.. and they waited with me like 7 hours when i went to the meet and greet at Hot Topic.. so my parents know how important Green Day are to me, they just don't care about them..

My Mum has longview as her ringtone, the guys as her wallpaper, she listens to them in the car even when I'm not there, she knows all the words, comes to shows with me.

And she said that next time I see them, no matter where it is in the world, she's going to come with me, and camp out and be on the barrier.

:D

My Dad thinks I'm crazy.

My mom is more than supportive. I have even gone to a Green Day concert with her when I was 16 :] It was loads of fun. My mom even called Billie Joe, "My boy!"

my mom gives me shit for it all the time. my dad likes them though cause he's seen them live. When my mom saw the musical i think she liked them a bit more though. i wish they were like super supportive and would like let me go to a ton of shows and NYC again. that would be awesome

but hey at least your parents did that for you. i mean my parents would never wait that long just for Green Day. I get what you mean though with the not listening thing. storyofmylife

My dad Is a boring fart and everyone in my house knows it! He think green day are a 'racket'. Also when he picked up my copy of AAF he went on to say how it's not big or clever to swear. But it's only expected from someone who listens to radio 4. He would never listen to green day and doesn't understand why I like them!

My mum on the other hand, does like them and will listen to them in the car. She came to see the musical with me and I think that converted her! But she's more into the 21CB slow songs! I dont think she would go to a concert but we will see!

My dad likes to tell everyone Im a Green Day fan. I think he likes it. He´s pretty interested in music, and say that they make awesome music even though he dont like it that much. I think hes kind of proud of my music taste

I dont know if my mom support it. She doesnt like their music, but she watched BIAB with me once ( wich resulted to some weird comments) And it was her own proposal!! She really likes BOBD though. And she loves Tre  (and so do my sister)

My parental support is zero! Myparents dont let me wear any of my GD shirts (i wear them anyway)and they won't even try to listen to their music! One I came downstairs wearing a GD cap and my mom said that I looked like a juvinile delinquint and made me change!

My mum is super supportive! She knows how much I love Green Day so everytime I buy a CD or an item of them she says: "Well done, girl!" LOL

I don't think my dad likes them, but maybe he finds them nice...even if once he said they looked like drug addicts

My mom is really supportive; I even got into Green Day because she played them around the house a lot when I was growing up. She's gone to one Green Day concert with me, and she saw American Idiot with me once. She loves the music, but she doesn't get into the other stuff as much as I do - she's only seen a couple interviews, and I'm sure she couldn't care less what Billie tweets about.

My dad knows how much I love them - seriously, after you know me for a certain period of time, it's pretty apparent - but he's pretty much indifferent to it. He's kind of a failboat when it comes to music anyway, he gets all my favorite bands mixed up all the time, lmao. And after I met BJ, I couldn't stop talking about it for like two weeks, and my dad was like, "Are you STILL talking about that?" so he doesn't quite get it, but he leaves me alone. :D

The other day I was in the car with my dad and put Awesome as Fuck on the CD player, and he said "is this the shit you're going to listen to"? Well okay then

Posted

My parents don't really care, but my dad messes with me saying that they have no fans and stuff  And my reply to him is a punch in the arm :D

Posted

My mom only listen catchy songs and my dad clasic music, so they don't like Green Day or punk music. But last year they bought me the vip pass to the Green Day show, I was the happiest girl on Earth  hahaha. My parents are the best :D

My mum who is mostly not that in to Green day said to me "Anna why don't you use boulevard of broken dreams as your song for that music project?"

Me: "You know it?!?"

Her: "Of course I do and it's not half bad... exept i find the drummer a bit creepy"

i was like Oh my Saint Jimmy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woot:

Dad has every song on his Ipod.

Well my mom likes Green Day very much and it's actually funny because she started to like them when I did too, and also she was born on the same day as Billie , she said that when Green Day will go on their next tour we'll rent a camper and travel to every concert in Europe, that's just crazy :pinch:, ...while.. my dad disagrees not only with Green Day but also with my taste in music and my style in general too.
