newsflash777 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 come to think of it my mum likes them a little, her favourite song is Peacemaker. she says its "piratey" ans when i listen to nice guys finish last she always says they know how to write a good song (1000 posts wooooo!!!!) "Piratey"
alaniluau Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I tried to do that to my sister but I was too late. A year ago I listened to Katy Perry and stuff like that but then I discovered Green Day and decided the other music was shit. My 12 year old sister switched to good music with me but my 11 year old sister only likes Green Day because she thinks Mike is hot. She listens to Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus... At least she knows a beautiful man when she sees one! My parents have both been converted to hardcore fans. Green Day kind of consumes me, so they really don't have much of a choice. My mom has tagged along to all the shows with me and everything. When the boys started playing Platypus in Chula Vista she was like, "Yes! I fucking love this song!" and proceeded to sing every word. All the San Diegans turned around and looked at her like what the actual fuck.
Melonhead Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Honestly, I don't think my parents really give a crap
-Billiejoezee- Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 my parents drive me to other cities to see green day because they love them aswell.
Catsername Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 My mom likes them. She actually came along to the Irvine show with my sister and me! (she had a seat though while I was in pit ) And we were talking afterwards, and she was really happy they played 'Give Me Novacaine' She doesn't like the, well, colorful language sometimes but she deals with it. And back in October, I couldn't believe she would let me go to New York by myself to see St. Billie. I was utterly shocked....I absolutely love my mom.

My dad has all the green day songs on his Ipod and my mom has them on her phone. She thinks billie is a babydoll haha. My dad always plays them in the car, and my mom constantly asks me if there's any green day stuff happening. They love them. And they like going to everything green day related with me. She even said next time there's a tour, were doing a cross country tour to see them in other states.

And your parents sound awesome. It's cute how your mom asks you for GD news
-Billiejoezee- Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 WHOA that would be so amazing!!! And your parents sound awesome. It's cute how your mom asks you for GD news She's always asking me. till the point that I'm like "JEEZ MOM NO OKAY BILLIE IS IN NEW YORK. "
Catsername Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 She's always asking me. till the point that I'm like "JEEZ MOM NO OKAY BILLIE IS IN NEW YORK. " Lol For me I'm usually the one that brings GD up in my family so I always feel really happy when my mom brings it up sometimes and starts talking about them.
-Billiejoezee- Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Lol For me I'm usually the one that brings GD up in my family so I always feel really happy when my mom brings it up sometimes and starts talking about them. Or when they sing the songs.
IlariaIDIOT Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I thinks my mum hates them! I have painted the Nimrod logo on a wall of my room. She asked me "What does it means?" and, after I answered her, she deleted it. And i was like "What the f**k did you do? " But, never mind. My dad likes them, I think. XD He always asks me "Are they on tour? No? Are you sure?" LOL
jake smith Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 "Piratey" thats the word she uses! i always ask why, surely the captain by Biffy Clyro is more like a pirate song? she knows that song aswell but i think she likes Green Day more. Probably because as soon as i get home from school i have to have a Green Day album in, its like a religious thing for me
Graysen Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 When I first really got into Green Day my parents were rather worried how 'obsessed' I became with them. Now my mom is basically kind of hooked on them, and both of my parents have attended shows with me. My mom and I saw Billie Joe in the American Idiot musical earlier in the month, and we both saw him walk out of the theatre. I think she's now developed a crush on him. ;D
Lu. Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 My mum has always supported me, no matter what the fuck I feel like listening. Okay, when I went through my hardcore/screamo phase, she was totally against that, but didn't complain very much. Actually, from all bands I've liked, Green Day is her favourite and she's very proud I'm back into them again.
koolkev Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 My dad kind of likes them, and he accepts me listening to them. My mom likes a few songs, but doesn't like the fact that they are explicit. I might not even be able to buy awesome as fuck.
Zero. Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 My mum didn't really know who they were, only because of me, and my dad doesn't really care... they kinda think I'm just a teenager with an obsession and will get over it eventually... sigh... boy are they wrong...
Catsername Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Or when they sing the songs. Exactly! My mom always sings along to WMUWSE when we play it in the car. To the other posts- It's great hearing how parents are mostly supportive! I think it's awesome how some have gone along to concerts too, I thought I was the only one bringing my mom to a GD concert.
*american idiot* Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 My dad was with me in the GD show And I turned my brother into Green Day too My mother likes Good riddance but hates other ones
Stormy Haze Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 My mother prepared me a Green Day cake for my birthday, I guess she's passed to the good side now
jos_whatsername Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 i don't really have my parents' support it's not like they wouldn't allow me to listen to GD or something. it's just that they care a fucking shit about what music i like they care about me and my interests, but green day is just.. they tihnk its a phase. i'm reeeeally glad my mom drove me back from my 2nd GD concert. my dad likes music but he listens to jazz and stuff. he once just took a cd outta my room (haha random?!) and listened to it and i asked whether he liked it or not and he was like "hmmm.. well... meh " those parents going to concerts with you and supporting you guys are sooo great!
Ally Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Both my parents love green day, so they definitely support it.
xjernpqvrnbfv Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 They don't mind. I think they're actually quite happy that I found 'something' to hold on. And yes they are very supportive when it comes to Green Day (:
Pedestrian9394 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 My mom really doesn't mind. She likes Green Day, especially since the Who is her favorite band and she's heard Green Day talk about how much they are influenced by them. Haha. The only things she doesn't like about Green Day is the fact that they swear a lot.
koolkev Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Both my parents love green day, so they definitely support it. I'm happy for you.
