Hilaweed Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 We're a Christian family so you can see how my parents wouldn't like Green Day. They'd rather I didn't listen to them but they're starting to care less and less about it, I just have to be careful not to buy too much Green Day stuff to bring attention to my love for them.
beejeezee Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 My parents don't care, at all. Unless I started listening to rap or something, then they would.
Broken_Tune Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 My parents think I'm over-obsessed. 7 years ago, they called it a 'phase'. Pretty damn long phase I'm going through then. My dad doesn't think much of the music. He thinks its too simple. My Mum is okay with it. She likes 21 Guns. And WMUWSE. Otherwise, my little sister like them. I taught her to like them as soon as she got interested in music, and I have managed to steer her away from the Disney Channel crap and Justin Bieber shit. wish i could have done that with my sister -__-
SuperRebReb Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 wish i could have done that with my sister -__- Ever since my sister has become 'aware' of the music world, I have explained to her why the popular music (like Bieber) is bad. And she thinks my music is 'grown up', so she tries to listen to the same stuff i do... I guess I'm lucky.
solongfromthestars Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 My mum's actually the one who got me into Green Day. She's been a fan for longer than me Green Day have made us buddies rather than mother and daughter. And she's a super awesome touring buddy.
Wet socks traumatize me Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 My mum's actually the one who got me into Green Day. She's been a fan for longer than me Green Day have made us buddies rather than mother and daughter. And she's a super awesome touring buddy. Haha! No way! Awesome!!!
euphoric-pareidolias Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 my parents are pretty indifferent to it, they just accept it. mum does get annoyed though when a word is said somewhere and i shout "green day song" but overall, they dont mind
Laurenn Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 my parents dont care. they think that because i like the band i also am in love with the color green. so lately everything my parents have gotten me is greeen... my grandma acctually likes them! she has like 2 songs on her IPad... it only annoys me when she say Green Bay instead of Green Day
HitmonSal Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 My parents think its great that I love Green Day like I do. My dad likes the fact i've made lots of new friends around the world from them.. but both parents think they are rubbish though but they are happy I love them!
Sarabeth Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 My mom likes them. She asks me about lyrics and stuff, but she thinks Ill grow out of it. My dad hates Green Day. He doesn't like their sound, lyrics, swearing, political message, drugs, appearance or behavior. My whole family went to the concert with me but my dad didn't like it. My dad also says that I suck at guitar because he doesn't like to hear me playing their songs. He also won't let me get drums because he doesn't want me playing their stuff on drums. While my mom just waits for me to grow out of it, my dad threatens to delete all of their sings from iTunes on a daily basis.

I tried to do that to my sister but I was too late. A year ago I listened to Katy Perry and stuff like that but then I discovered Green Day and decided the other music was shit. My 12 year old sister switched to good music with me but my 11 year old sister only likes Green Day because she thinks Mike is hot. She listens to Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus...
Uva Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 They don't care they accepted it))) but actually I think they don't mind their daughter has something what makes her a bit happier.
Slappy. Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 My mom likes Green Day herself so she's pretty supportive And my parents are so used to me liking Green Day that when I don't mention them for like a day, or I mention another band they're like "ooooh what about Green Day!?" haha
Shnitzel Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 my parents HATE Greeen Day! the word green day is practicley banned from my house! The second i say green day, everybody looks away from me! no matter how long i'm a fan of green day, they will always hate green day with a passion. It's really annoying. Also, my brother is into alot of shitty music, and he also hates green day. Life is tough.
jake smith Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 they don't mind me being a fan of Greenn Day, why should they? but i think if my mum heard the language Billie used on BIAB she wouldnt be too impressed

It's so sad may be you should change your mind about their opinion or you should explain them how much green day mean for you and that their music makes you happy. I think it must work
beejeezee Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Not my parents but my "friend" isn't what you call supportive. She hates Green Day and thinks they are the devil. All she does is critisize the fact that I like Green Day and tells me to listen to Christian music. She has never supported anything I do. She hates the music, hates the way they dress, hates what they do on stage, hates what they sing, hates Tre', hates Mike, hates Billie. All she likes is to critisize me about it. And I havenever said a bad thing about her "Chris Tomlin" and how much he sucks. She even said he sings better then BeeJ . her
manuMinority Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 my parents know about my obsession since i'm 10 so they would have to deal with it no matter if they liked green day or not but, in fact, my mum likes green day, she prefers their old music, tho.. and actually they paid my tickets for concerts, t-shirts, CDs and stuff, so, i'm glad they support me in that point
rinu Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 They said nothing about it but they know that I love Green Day a lot.
Tubbie Head Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 My parents totally support my love for Green Day, 'course sometimes they tell me to "come back to the real world" when I get too excited about their stuff, and when I start telling them how I want to see AI musical, go to NYC and see St. Billie... well yeah.
beejeezee Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Just noticed I hadn't posted about what my parents think I thought I had. Anyways they are supportive. My mom has always liked Dookie, so she is happy that I listen to Green Day. Only thing she doesn't like is I only want to listen to Green Day. It's like a drug for me. She is just happy I listen to music. Although my mom hates what BeeJ does omstage, y'know? When we watched BIAB she freaked out, and when i showed my friend and she told my parents my mom had a "conversation" with me about it. She acts like it's such a horrible thing what he does, which isn't true. BeeJ just does what he does. Only thing I don't like is my mom keeps calling it a "phase." Keep saying that mom, Green Day isn't a phase for me. Another thing is she thinks BeeJ, Mike, and Tre' are all scary looking. I understand Tre' gets his "freaky" moments, and even Mike has times when he looks kind of old. But Billie? He always looks so young and adorable. My dad likes Green Day too, but he thinks they aren't as great as they seem. He's always saying "they only play three chords in every song." I mean, come on! I wish he would stop saying that because even if they only play simple stuff there music still sounds amazing. I know he's happy that I don't listen to shit like rap and hip hop. My only problem is he thinks I'm in love with Fink! Not true. I just love the name Finkster so I started using it inplace of "fuck" and just, ugh. I know if he saw what Billie does on stage though he would kill me I just saw my post count is 230 now and my clock said 2:30
watever Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 my parents don't know i listen to them or music in general. if i my mom knew, she'd have a heart attack or something.
PunkRocks and Coke Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Im sure my mom would rather me like a more.... decent band but ehh what are you gonna do lol I cant listen to my Green Day cds in her car because she shits a brick if she hears the word fuck Dads pretty cool about it He probably wishes I wasnt as obsessed or on GDC all day but this is my home and second family
hellsbells Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Sorry I dont know how ya do the quote thingys but The American Idiot that Christian music thing took me back to when I was younger and because me and a friend used to lock ourselves in her mums car and listen to Green Day whilst we were supposed to be in church they bought me Christian rock music to listen to but it really was a pile of poo!! So that explains what my parents think of my musical taste and they still dont like it now but they cant do much about it coz I live in my own house now
jake smith Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 come to think of it my mum likes them a little, her favourite song is Peacemaker. she says its "piratey" ans when i listen to nice guys finish last she always says they know how to write a good song (1000 posts wooooo!!!!)
