Burnout98 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Its not a phase, its an addiction, and i will be addicted to Green Day for the rest of my life. I would then walk away and laugh.
Mar Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I never hear that "it's a phase," I get more attitude from people for still liking them beyond either 2000 or 2005, depending on if you're talking to "old school GD" or "GD was part of the 'emo kid' days" group. Like, I've been judged for wearing a GD shirt from last year's tour; like, you're only allowed to like them in the AI era or something. Whatever.
comingclean17stars Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Honestly I don't care, they obviously don't know me if they think that it's a phase. absolutely. Green Day can't be a phase, not in my life.
aussiechocolate Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Its not a phase, its an addiction, and i will be addicted to Green Day for the rest of my life. I would then walk away and laugh. Much better, it's an addiction.
abhishek Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 sometimes they tell me being obsessed with music is a phase!
The Snark Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 This thread reminded me of something my dad said just last year while we were watching the Tony Awards. Now, up until then all I had been talking about was the possibility of Green Day playing Lollapalooza. There was no way he couldn't of heard me at least once. A few seconds after they took the stage, he turned to me and said "Green Day?! You still like them? I thought it was just a phase..." Without missing a beat, my mom said "Where the hell have you been all these years?!"
Burnout98 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Much better, it's an addiction. Yeah but's its true.
Mrs. Nobody Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 No one I know cares enough to question whether it's a phase or not
jensername Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 This is along the lines of what I would say to those people: Green Day isn't just some transitory interest. Green Day is EVERYTHING to me. They're what inspired me to play guitar, to be in a band, to actually live my life in the way I see fit. They've taught me to believe in myself and dream big, despite how everyone else seems to think. Every Green Day song relates to my life in some way. "Westbound Sign" and "Jesus of Suburbia" are especially true now since I'm moving out for the first time this Saturday. Songs like "Burnout", "Brat", "The Grouch", and "Jackass" remind me of a lot of people I know, and how I want to be different from them. Green Day has ultimately given me hope in life. It's not just their inspiring lyrics, Billie's heart-melting voice, or their extremely catchy songs. It's the all-around feeling I get when I listen to their music. It just makes me feel at home...makes me feel like I'm normal So no, Green Day is definitely NOT a phase. Never was and never will be. The more I listen to them and the more stuff I find out about them, my love actually keeps growing for them. I have no doubt about them or their music. They will always be my favorite band. My love for Green Day is forever. This guy seems to handle it well... haha that's fucking awesome
jos_whatsername Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 to be honest, i don't even explain all my reasons to people that tell me stuff like this. simply because they will never understand how deep my love is . i don't tell them green day are my purpose in this life .. i don't tell them when i listen to their music, i feel home and complete .. i don't tell them those 3 men influenced me may more than anything else in my life .. i don't tell them green day changed my life and help me be the person i wanna be .. i don't tell them i probably think more about green day than anything else .. i don't tell them i learned to live my life to the fullest through green day .. i don't tell them the times at my 2 green day shows were the best of my life BY FAR .. i don't tell them the first time i saw them life, i was amazed from the first second, i couldn't stop crying and those moments changed everything .. i just tell them to go F.O.D. if they could see inside my head, then they'd start to understand the things i value in my heart !! i seriously don't often talk about green day in front of my friends or no-green day fans in general. i hate getting those looks like "duh. you green day freak."
bat-chen Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 What do you think/say to people when they say to you 'Liking and being obsessed with Green Day is a Phase' ? I say 'go fuck youself!'
Broken_Tune Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 no one has said that to me yet..... but if they did i`dd probably laugh x)
Pedestrian9394 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I just think it's ridiculous that somebody would take that much interest in my musical taste and then try to tell me it's a phase, as if something's wrong with me. I've never had anyone do that before.
Marlee Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I just shrug and say okay simply because i know they will never understand what Green Day has done for my life. You see, that's what this forum is for. People who have never been touched in a way that Green Day has touched my life will never understand, and i have accepted that. Why would i waist my time on someone who just wants to believe that it's just a phase? I have a life......one of the many lessons i have learned from Green Day
Uva Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I've liked Green Day for 6 years. I'm obsessed like I used to be but your music still makes me happy. I think if it was a phase it would have ended by now. I don't care what people say. Totally agree! People mustn't care what I like and how I do this, it is only my business! I know it isn't a phase in my life and if somebody tries to teach me how to live I just ignore that person.
jake smith Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 well i would say its not a phase if i've liked Green Day for more than 5 years, plus i still like them as much i when i first heard them, so i don't think i will ever stop liking them
Sarabeth Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I don't really care. They think that music is just sound. But I know that music is emotions, music is what feelings sound like, music is beauty, music is love, music is passion, music is air, music is life, music is EVERYTHING! A day without music is like a day without air. Impossible. And a day without Green Day is a day with no passion for life. A wasted day... So true... I used to go through phases of music interest. Like one month I'd like country, the next month I'd like rap. Stuff like that, but now I listen to a wider variety of music. But I listen to Green Day at least 20 times a day. I can't live without my Green Day fix. Since my phases used to last about a month and I've been A huge fan if Green Day for over a year now, my parents stopped saying it was a phase. They hoped that I'd get over it in the beginning but I think they accept it now. They still don't like it but they know that they can't change my mind. My grandmother thinks otherwise... Plus, I've listened to Green Day 25,424 times in the past year. And I like every song as much as the first time I heard it so...
manuMinority Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 my friends and parents said that when i started loving green day like 7 years ago. well i was too young to actually have a proper answer but now i would just say "well, you dont understand. your heart has never really beaten for a band. a band has never been LIFE to you."
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I laugh and say that 11 years is a really long phase, and if they still believe that by now, they should get their head checked.
jake smith Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 the question that needs answering is, how old are you when you give up on listening to Green Day? I think i want to be about 80 and say "this is my favourite song ever" to my Grandkids and start blaring Prosthetic Head!
21Heart_Grenades Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 If someone said that to me, I'd be like, "If Green Day is a 'phase', then this will be the longest fuckin' phase of my life!" 'Cuz one thing is for sure Green Day is my life. They're not just some one time thing and they've definitely proved that(plus plenty of other points they wanted to make). So, really and truly Green Day could never be a phase, even after they're long gone(no time soon, of course ).
newsflash777 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Oh so my mom? Idk, she can think whatever. They've been a part of me since I was 8, so I'd like to see that go away?
