solongfromthestars Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Green Day. Like other people have said, Sweet Children would be wrong now. I'm not exactly in love with the meaning of their name, but I've got nothing seriously against it, and if you don't think about that which I generally don't, it's a pretty good and unique name.
Tubbie Head Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 It would be amazing for them having "Sweet Children" as the band's name these days. But I like Green Day better =)
Vaso.Of.Suburbia Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Green Day is WAY better. Sweet Children is a nice name when you are 12 years old and have a rock band. Also, the name Green Day makes you really curious because you might have never heard this expression before. And as we know, the curiosity of the crowd makes them buy more and more things.
fadi_7 Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 i was thinking about this so much and i said to myself why the hell don't they do a band called sweet children like the network of foxboro hot tubs they can make one called sweet children and put in it all the songs that they wrote when they were in sweet children i think this will be good and bad idea but they won't lose anything if they do it !
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I prefer Green Day. Sweet Children is more of a name for a young, small band, or a name for something more "heavy", like Cat C said (which I don't think fits Green Day that much, or at least not their latest albums) And I don't dislike the name Green Day at all. It doesn't recall for its meaning as soon as you hear it, most of the time I don't think about the weed thing at all. It's a catchy name, and it can be a little playful but also strong. And it's not a cliché name (whereas Sweet Children kind of is). well this post is fucking awful.
fadi_7 Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Sweet Day or Green Children sweet day could work more hahah lol
AnnA™ Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I don't like either of them all that much to be honest. But as been said I think they would've outgrown the name Sweet Children pretty soon anyway. Aside from a little bit of irony, that probably wouldn't work anymore, I think it would've been pretty lame. Green Day is better. I've never thought it's a particularly great name, but it's short and simple... Haha... And it's more interesting when you know what it means I guess.

Holly Ann Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Green Day. Sweet Children for late 30s men, really?
fadi_7 Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Green Day. Sweet Children for late 30s men, really? lol good point !!
Opezi Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Sweet Children is a great name, I think, But it's also a name that you grow out of and they did so yknow with a new name such as Green Day, I like them both the same. Either way they are still gonna pump out great music
Marie Dirnt Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I think Green Day sound better. Sweet Children is , well a name for Children, lol
TheSaltOfTheEarth Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I'm not a huge fan of the name Green Day but it suits them so much by now that you really can't picture them being called something else. Definitely not 'Sweet Children.' They're 38 now, and they're going to last for a very long time (most probably), so can you picture 50-year-old men calling themselves Sweet Children? It was a good name way back when, but now? Green Day for sure.
Katarina. Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Their music is great, so I don't care that much about the name. The guys are almost 40 though, so Sweet Children won't be as appropriate as when they started the band. Then I prefer the name Green Day.
Hermione Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 It'd be well creepy for them to be called Sweet Children now
CzechIdiot Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I prefer the name Green Day. Haha, Id would be funny with Sweet Children now.
Comedy & Tragedy Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I was never crazy on Sweet Children. It has no creativity to it, unless it has some sort of back-story, it's not that imaginative. I know that not everybody is crazy on Green Day (I love it ) but at least it had a bit of originality.
AnnA™ Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 but don't you think they can do what i said to make a band called sweet children ,just like the network and foxboro hot tubs !!! and to make it own songs I guess. A side project is always a cool idea, but then I still wouldn't be too crazy about the name. I'd rather they'd call themselves something else...
Axel Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I think Green Day describes their personalities better. (STONERS)
taybay Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Yeah, like a lot of people are saying, they wouldn't be "Sweet Children" when they're almost in their 40s. So Green Day wins!
fadi_7 Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 everyone is saying that because they are almost 40 sweet CHILDREN won't be good for them but what if they call it sweet MAN !!! lol
21st century idiot Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 I'll combine them...so its perfect their new name shall Be "Sweet Day" or "Green Children"
Satan Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Personally, i have to go with sweet children. I just love the irony of the name
