Burnout98 Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I dont really get worked up over that, but it does piss me off when the media overexaggerate everything like that....
BringMoreKnives Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Doesn't Adrienne run an eco-friendly store? I think it's called Atomic Garden....*goes and googles* Yup. Here's an article about it. http://www.diablomag.com/Diablo-Magazine/May-2008/Eco-Chic-Boutique/ I just had a funny mental picture of Adie nagging Billie about the importance of recycling
Guest Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 i'm sure they probably aren't really anymore "eco friendly" than the average person is. i know adrienne is really big into that stuff though, so if there is any eco friendliness going on it's probably because of her, not billie or mike or tre.
mallorymaloney Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 i'm sure they probably aren't really anymore "eco friendly" than the average person is. i know adrienne is really big into that stuff though, so if there is any eco friendliness going on it's probably because of her, not billie or mike or tre. This is exactly what I'm starting to think --- Especially after reading the story T Ann posted! Adrienne and Billie were über concerned about Meyer using non-eco friendly dookie bags ...? More like just Adie, methinks. And it's no secret she's always been the saintlier of the couple!
LMC Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I'm pretty sure that the human race will put an end to this world (or at least its own existence) soon enough, Green Day being "eco-friendly" or not . What they should try to do is to encourage and promote the development of alternative energy sources. The research in fusion power for example is moving very slowly. The oil will run out sooner or later, and then what? Where are we gonna get the energy that we today get from the 85 million barrels of oil that the world consumes every single day? I don't want to stand there without options when that day comes. This is an interesting topic, to say the least.
Mar Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I don't think they're overboard with it at all. In fact, I like that they're addressing the issue, but not in a way that is over the top (Al Gore) or shamelessly pointless (NBC Universal).
ganis Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I'm not really that bothered about it. I think waht they did with NRDC was great, and being very intreseted in environmental questions myself, I always enjoy watching it. But that doesn't make them eco "heros" or anything, I suppose they might recycle and stuff at home, but how could we know..? I think that their eco friendly thing had very much to do with AI. And AI was in a way very much to open people's eyes. And about them touring.... Touring around the world infront of massive crowds, it's hard to be eco-friendly. Sure, they could cut down on the pyro, but they can't really do much more than that... and I don't think anyone want them to quit touring.. :random rambling:
JohannaRaeRamone. Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I wouldn't say I'm necessarily getting tired of the boys being promoted as eco gods, but it is certainly something I've noticed. I think Adrienne has encouraged them to be more involved in environmental issues, which is great considering that they have such a profound influence on so many. Having said that, they don't seem to be overly concerned by the matter. They do the best they can do, and I will support them for that. I saw an interview once where a reporter put Billie on the spot about his "eco-friendlieness" and he was like, "Uh, yeah, actually my wife is the one who takes care of that." I don't think they asked to be enviornment pinnups, and it is annoying, especially when people are like, "GREEN Day! Enviornment pun here! Oh they don't smoke pot!" But at least they lend their likeness to the cause, if not slightly hypocritical in analyis.
The Snark Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I'll tell you a little story... when Dawn met Billie Joe backstage at American Idiot with me, Toniann, Maryann, Shannon and Julia, Michael Mayer was there. He was standing with a bag from a pet shop. A person in our group asked him what he had gotten, and he told us that Billie Joe and Adrienne had just given him a set of eco-friendly doggie poop bags. He said that Billie and Adrienne were a little astonished that he used non-eco friendly (i.e. non bio-degradable) dog poop bags. I have a feeling Adrienne bought the poop bags and just wrote Billie's name on the card.
taybay Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Well said, I agree. I mean, it's great that they're doing something for a good cause because a lot of people look up to them. however, whether they agree with it or not is a different issue.
anya. Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I don't mind so much about it, or maybe I do.. nearly everyone famous does too much enviorment eco good things, most of them - let's face it - just to get more people on their side, to be more popular, more fans.. about this, maybe I could say Green Day are one of them.. I don't know, but I kinda hate all these "ohh, enviorment, enviorment.. we're eco, we're eco" Geez.. the fact is, I love Green Day because it's the music that I love about them, not them caring for our planet and planet's future..
