I paid for all of the actual albums, although I do have the free songs that are up for download on the GDA and some bootlegs of live songs. I like owning physical CDs so that I can listen to them in the car and so I can look at the booklets, plus it's just respectful to not steal, especially from people you admire.

well, i only have 4 Green Day albums, and ..i bought every single one of 'em with my own money. i prefer the original album to downloading music from the net and just burning them to a disc. it doesn't satisfy me.

how do you steal an album from a shop? well, there are these stupid long burglar alarms (?) everywhere in the shops and, we can't just walk away without paying for it, and when we just walk away like that, the alarm sets off and then boom. they caught us red-handed. the cops arrive.

Downloaded Network, FBHT, Pinhead Gunpowder Discography, Frustrators Discography, The Lookouts Discography (although their copyrights are gone, so it's not illegal and they're only on vinyl, so I would call it fair), and all live albums except BIAB. If I ever have the opportunity to buy any of these, however, I will, because I prefer CD's to digital. They're just really hard to find, y'know? I also downloaded Short Music for Short People but that only has one GD song so :\

I plan to download the bonus live tracks from Warning and all the singles, but that's different, IMO.

Bootlegs, even though that's not illegal downloading. It's considered "Questionably Legal" which basically means the record company will tell you to stop and if you don't they'll file a suit that you'll win.

And lots of my albums were gifts, but I consider that still "buying" them.

I had first bought American Idiot when it was first released. A friend who knew I was starting to like them gave me all of their other albums on burned CDs, minus Insomniac and 21st Century Breakdown which I got myself. I've digitally bought most (if not all) of their other b-sides, and downloaded the rarities here. I'm for sure going to get around to getting them all at some point, and maybe a few favs on vinyl since I like the sound and whatnot.

I've never really illegally downloaded songs I didn't like. I'll usually just check it out on youtube or something if I'm interested and if it's good and I like it, I'll support them by buying the song/album.

My brother gave me everything from 1039/SOSH to Warning as mp3's around the time AI came out. But since then I've bought all of them (and the AI cast album) apart from 1039/SOSH and kerplunk but I intend to buy them soon.
