Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 That list is perfect. Thanks! I just listened to the CBGBs set and thought it would be great to have a short snappy punky kind of tracklist like that, at CBGBs the only hit they play is Longview (as he says to introduce the song "when all else fails, pull out the hits"). 10 songs, 30 minutes, would make for a classic punk album. Someone mentioned Christie Road which could go in place of Holden Caulfield but other than that I think this gives the best of the Green Day sound, rather than The Who-influenced new stuff which most people will have heard anyway.Obviously there's still a bajillion left out, and this isn't my 10 favourite GD songs as that would have Holiday in it, and Panic Song and When I Come Around but this is the sort of set I would love to see them play in a small club like that.
green day is Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Whatever you do, don't forget to 1. Share the final list B. Include some B-Sides

sara_gd Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 I usually try and recommend a particular album to a person, to ease them into the band. Having a whole array of songs that all sound completely different might confuse them, so I think it's best to stick with one album for a more steady introduction. I wouldn't start them off with something as political as American Idiot or even 21st Century Breakdown, then there's nearly an expectation to learn something from it and I can find those albums to be very intense at times. Personally, I would recommend Dookie. For me that album represents Green Day the best and it's what really got me into them. Either that, or Insomiac. I kind of agree, but I wouldn't give them Insomniac, I think most of the songs from Insomniac are really similar. If I had to give them an album I'd go with something like Nimrod, that has more diversity of songs but they aren't completely different either. And then American Idiot, I think that album needs to be listened from front to back.
