Burnout98 Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 That would be so cool if they did that. I hope they do, but i wouldn't get my hopes up.
CamCam Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010  i like this idea very much! yes please!!!!
OliDayyy Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 And the same year, a special edition for the 10th anniversary of American Idiot?
euphoric-pareidolias Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Yeah, I've ALWAYS wanted them to re-record some of their old songs. It would make me so happy! same!!! especially cos Billie Joes voice has changed over the years it would be interesting to see him sing the songs slightly differently, it would be like having an album of new songs!
heyohbilliejoe Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 thats a nice idea, but i'd rather have them focusing on new material. very true. new material means new album, new album means new tour, new tour means green day comes to england, hopefully WITHOUT a four year gap
Stormy Haze Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I think it's a nice idea, but I would rather prefer new material I already have all those things so it wouldn't interest me . As long as I have the CDs of each of Green Day's albums, and all the other songs in some form or another, I'm happy. If I'd just got into Green Day and hadn't bought Dookie yet it'd be pretty handy though. I'm torn over the idea of a re-recording. It would definitely be interesting to hear, but ehh I dunno......at the same time I don't like the idea of the original being messed with. The songs could never have the same authenticity if they were recorded now, when they're not "in the moment" and the lyrics are in the past. Kind of like how I feel about the re-recorded Welcome To Paradise........it sounds good enough but the song feels diminished, the power and urgency of the authentic original isn't there. My thoughts exactly.
idc Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I'd prefer a 2nd disc with the exact same tracks but new recorded, would be really interesting to compare
pasalaska Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I love dookie the way it is. It captures the sound of a moment in time. I really don't like the idea of re-recording the songs. but hell, I'd still buy it anyway.
Burnout98 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 And the same year, a special edition for the 10th anniversary of American Idiot? THAT, would be quite interesting as well! What will they put in for the bonus features though? i would buy it!
-Billiejoezee- Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 The thread title just mindfucked me right now. And well, i'd buy one for each person in my family. Then they won't want it so they'll give it backto me and I could keep them all.
Burnout98 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 It would be cool if they put interviews on it as well!
PleasedToMeetMe Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 I dont like the idea of re-recording the older material, if anything just give it a good mixing job. From what I've been hearing they're gonna be fucking with the original masters of 39/Smooth and Kerplunk for Rockband so who knows, anything's possible. I would just like to see the Dookie Demos get a proper release, like what they did with the demo tracks for The Replacements when they re-issued their cataloge in 2008. Plus, am I the only one who thinks maybe there's a few leftover gems that have never seen the light of day from the 1993-1994 period? And while Im on the topic of GD releasing some cool shit, why not finally release those Nimrod outtakes? Or the actual footage (not just what's seen in documentries and the Last Ride In video) they shot for that movie they were filming while recording the album . . or how about digging threw the vaults and finding some early demos or something? Songs like 'World Vs World' shouldnt just be left to rot for 20 years.
JeanJeanie Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Keep all the stuff in the original post, nix the re-recording and add a Pixies style tour of them playing through the entire album and its b-sides in smaller venues and you just might have me in a perpetual awesomeness induced comatose state.
