Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 I didn't say Warning sounded dark and pissed off, but compared to 21st Century Breakdown, its more expressive to their style than all these rock operas... Get your facts straight before you go bashin... There's a difference between "more expressive to one's style" and "more dark and pissed off than". Actually, they are almost completely different things. Also, what exactly do you mean by more expressive to their style? I don't really know how to reply because they would be completely different replies, either whether Warning is darker than the recent concept albums, or whether it's more expressive to their style, whatever that may mean. You literally said "more dark and pissed off", not that it's more expressive to their style. You didn't say that Warning is dark and pissed off and I know I implied that faulty, in a light-hearted comment because I found it funny how someone would say Warning would be dark in any way, but its not like I completely made something up. Also, what I've seen you do a lot on here is bashing Green Day solely based on your opinion of things, and getting the facts half wrong while doing so. I know that's an immature retort, but well... Well it's all personal for me I suppose. I grew up with Green Day just being the original 3 and was utterly surprised when I saw some new up coming faces... There have been people playing with them since Warning, Nimrod if you want to count the trumpet-playing bees and shit during King For A Day. If you are indeed 18, that would mean you were 8 when new faces started showing up.
Saint of Suburbia Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Whatever it is, they need another song with a world class riff to rival Holiday
Satan Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 i'm feeling insomniac mixed with 21st CB. the dark themes, fast riffs and confusion of insomniac mixed with the grand, emotionally desperate, and theatrical feel of 21st CB. everyone seems to have this love for warning, when in my opinion it is one of the most forgettable albums. every song on that album is good, but they got old fast for me. i don't want the new album to feel much like that.
Monica. Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 hmmm I'd love them to mix their sound from AI/21CB with their older style and see where they can 'improve' or go on from there..if that makes sense...lol But you guys all have great ideas, I wouldn't mind any of these directions! I just want them to move forward and keep playing beautiful music!
Vespertine Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I just have this feeling they'll go back to their roots, even though I don't want this to happen. I love their old stuff, but ugh, I just want them to try new things and keep moving forward.
-Billiejoezee- Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I still think what billie said is true and that they'll add some foxie's flavor..

Amber. Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Yeah, I remember they said their next album might have a little FBHT twist. I'd love if that happened. But if it didn't, I personally wouldn't want them to continue their 21CB route, in my opinion. I'm not a big fan of that album. :\
segaloco Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I want to see them try to push Cigarettes and Valentines personally. Maybe now that they've tested the waters with the track on Awesome as F**k, they'll consider going back and rerecording it

And personally, i don't believe that the tapes got stolen....
segaloco Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Nah, I really don't think that'll happen. If they ever did it would be on some sort of charity album or something, but they wouldn't put it on a new album. Especially now it's been released on AAF. Well I meant the rest of the tracks, not just CV itself
rback57 Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I LOVE the style of C&V, and would love to hear more from that album. I want to see something different from what they're doing now, I think 21CB was a little too much piano, not enough rock, imo. And, the rock opera, while great, and they totally pulled it off twice, would be getting too old if they did it again for they're next album. But, wherever they head next is cool, and they should continue to move forward. Like, something new, again, like they did twice with AI and 21CB.
Lauralovesgreenday Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 I love cigarettes and valentines, great sound (: however, I prefer lyrics that I can relate to because thats one of the main reasons why I love green day so much. So next, I hope they do their album in the style of American Idiot/ Insomniac
Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 No rock operas and no songs with "America" in the title, and no big statement songs, like Holiday or EJN. Just a big dumb fun album like Foxboro Hot Tubs. But also something that recognises that they're no longer punk kids. That seems like a paradox but I just don't want them to sound like The Who or Rolling Stones constantly reliving songs from their youth. Even American Idiot, possibly their most grown-up album is about a teenage kid, they need to move onto something else eventually and with the rock opera thing being done now is their chance to have a fresh start again. Now that I've thought about it I guess Nimrod is a good reference, in particular stuff like The Grouch and Worry Rock. It's recognising they're not 19 but it's still gloriously good music played Green Day style.
PleasedToMeetMe Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Judging by 'Stay The Night', I think the next GD album will be all the fun of everything Green Day has ever done in about 45 mins. Simple yet huge. However, it makes me wonder if maybe it's one of those songs dating back to the Cigs and Valentines days? I love the song, the lyrics, the message, the feel . . thats what I want in the next Green Day album. Something huge that an old school Green Day fan can wrap their head around and be like 'whoa, this is great'.
