The USA has colour coded threat levels, so red alert would be panic time. When people are panicking, everything is dramatized and becomes so far from the actual truth, what you hear might as well be static noise.

I thought it could also be that there are constantly "red alerts", like warnings about terrorists and all kinds of obscure threats, so that people get used to them, start to ignore them and they just become static noise that people don't really pay attention to anymore.

And this is a really bad explanation of what I mean. I shouldn't write anything when I'm tired.

Red Alerts have only been used once I think, but I definitely understand what you mean. If warnings like that are overused they lose their impact on the public.

id say more along the lines of that it's hard for someone who lied to get forgiveness from a stone because obviously a stone doesnt have much revelance so they need to go the extra mile to get forgiveness? idk if that makes sense haha

I think the lyrics are "She holds my malachite so tight." I mean, the correct pronunciation of Malachite is "Malakite," so...

I think it's a reference to his green eyes. I read he's basically saying "she stares deeply into my eyes," or something like that. I guess that's what it means, really.

I was discussing this one with a friend a while back. We both thought that maybe Billie had given Adie something made with malachite as a token of his love (like a piece of jewelry), so he's telling her to never let go of it, and the love it reperesents.

Of course, this is all hypothetical, but it's a pretty common thing to give loved ones jewelry with precious stones.

I think he means treated like he's unwanted and unimportant. "Forbidden" meaning not allowed/rejected, and "heel" meaning the bottom of someone's shoe - low down and worthless.

He's being treated as though what he thinks doesn't matter, he's not being taken seriously or listened to. He isn't happy about it and warns that if he keeps getting treated this way "you won't see me again" .

I don't think it's a reference to his eyes, it would be too egocentric as Hermione said.

Considering that the next line is "So... never let go", I would say is something of his body (I'm trying not to take that to a sexual context xD) or something that he gave her and that has an especial meaning for both of them. I don't think it has to be something green just because of the fact that malachites are green, but I don't know.

Or well, maybe it is a sexual reference covered with that "malachite" word... :eyebrow:

You can confess your sins to a priest, or I guess just forget them to get away with them?

I don't know if I understood what you are trying to say, but summing those lines up it would be "They didn't die for the sins that I got away with", which could be contradictory (if this is what you mean (?) ), but I think that's the intention. Like, "No, no one died for my sins... well, not for the ones that I got away with anyway..."

I always thought of it as "looking for forgiveness you aren't going to get".

I've always compared it to the saying 'You're beating a dead horse' . So yeah your doing something that will get nothing in the end...or I see it like when people go to get forgiven of their sins at church, they sit in a booth and tell the guy all there wrong doings and supposedly that's just supposed to make it all be okay, but in all actuality it's not.

Or it could have something to do with the previous line of "tattoos of memories". Tattoos, dead skin. I dunno that's how I saw it. The 'tattoos' started off as memories but ended up as nothing but 'dead skin' he'd need to answer up to, hence 'on trial'. So basically, the scars will always show. I don't know if I explained that well but that's how I always saw it. XD
