takemetopasalacqua Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I used to have a professor who's brother was a dj for some station here, and he'd give us extra credit if we called the station. So I called and asked him to play some old Green Day, and he played Private Ale for me. Best extra credit ever. thatss crazyyy , more people on the radio need to do that , if im luckyy all i hear of green day on the radio is when i come around or songs from AI
Spider Tre Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 i heard Jesus of Suburbia (9 minute version), Minority, I Fought The Law, and a live version of We Are The Champions just once
Metanoia Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Has to be Nice Guys Finish Last and Horsshoes and Handgranades...
Conspiracy. Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I usually listen to this radio station that plays Green Day a lot, like about 5 songs a day. I was surprised though when they played Jesus Of Suburbia (whole 9 minutes), I Fought The Law, BIAB version of American Idiot and Longview. Oh and they keep playing this weird techno remix of Brain Stew. It sounds really weird and I don't even know where that is from.
Metanoia Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Oh yeah right the BIAB version of Boulevard of Broken Dreams oh,oh,oh amd as driving home from the Mainz concert I heard a live recording from Holiday and I started crying
shit Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 thatss crazyyy , more people on the radio need to do that , if im luckyy all i hear of green day on the radio is when i come around or songs from AI They do, radio stations have access to so much music. But they still play the same 10 songs everyday, repeatedly. I'm not even talking about new songs, just the same 10 old songs they've been playing for years. When Billie Joe did that interview on NPR Fresh air, I think they played Give Me Novacaine.
Devan Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 I've heard Jesus of Suburbia and Give Me Novacaine.. I also heard Warning on a top 20 hits station in Biology, that was pretty neat. I also heard The Pedestrian a couple times when the Foxboro Hot Tubs came out. I get really excited when I hear any Green Day on the radio though. Its silly, its not like they're some underground band who no ones over heard of, but it brihgtens my day ever so slightly.
Vespertine Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, hehe Honestly, I don't listen to the radio, so yeah
euphoric-pareidolias Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 i dont really listen to the radio and when i do theres rarely a Green Day song played. ive only ever heard WMUWSE and Boulevard and then once an edited version of 21Guns which was totally unneeded (as in it being edited rather than it being played )
Red Lights Flash Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Well, this isn't rare but it was definitely unsuspected. I went to IKEA last year, when the album was only out for like two weeks, and I heard 21st Century Breakdown... Which is weird cause KYE was the only single back then! Then, last week I went to IKEA again and.. They played BoBD. A short version, but great to hear anyway.
Leisha-LUNA Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 When I was in Hawaii in 06 I heard a live version of Brainstew on the radio I have no idea what show it was from, and I've long since forgotten the radio station. But it was so cool.
Juliette Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Singles aren't exactly rare I mean, those are the ones you'd expect to hear on the radio. Idk, after the Paris show in June, Virgin Radio had a GD special and played pretty much every song so I think I've heard most of them on the radio
Hermione Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 When we won the Absolute Radio Rockoff (the greatest day in GDC history ), I heard Going To Pasalacqua (Pasa-lala-cqua), Christie Road, Scattered, Welcome To Paradise and Letterbomb on the radio, plus more - all thanks to us . What a glorious hour it was  Other than that, around the time 21st CB came out I listened to a Green Day themed show on Radio One during which they played Mother Mary - I was excited!
EvanAsFuck Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Horseshoes and Handgrenades came on once which was extremely surprising! And for everytime there was a "fuck" they bleeped it out with a random funny noise... It was quite entertaining
scubaduck Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Hmm... maybe Basket Case? Well it's rare to me because I don't listen radio often...
jtdscape Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Heard The Pedestrian yesterday and while on the topic of FBHT, I heard Mother Mary back when Stop Drop And Roll!!!! came out.
NothingButYourImagination Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Good Riddance gets a fair amount of play here. Some other stuff that gets played now and then are WMUWSE, Longview, Brain Stew\Jaded, and BoBD. I've only heard Holiday and Basket Case a couple of times on the radio. The stations here are really awful though; mostly country, rap\hip hop, and pop. The more indie rock\alternative stations hardly play anything good.
Angela. Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 There's also 2 local stations that use Green Day as background music while the hosts talk, one used to play Castaway every morning. I don't know if they still do though. I know the X in Pittsburgh plays King for a Day every morning. They're taunting me with it, I'm gonna call and see if they'll just play it one morning. Wait a minute. The X plays King For A Day? Dude, I've never heard that song on that station! But then again, I don't listen in the morning so... I've heard JOS. That's kinda the rarest for me. Probably a single from Nimrod or Insomniac as well, though I can't remember anything specific.
NickD Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 the radio here once played Last Ride In with the intention of playing Last of the American Girls, which they played immediately following, because American Girls was requested

Yeah, Tim and Bob play it somewhere between 8 and 9 in the morning. I'm gonna call them one day, and see if they'll humor me and play the full song.
