mallorymaloney Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Wow, that actually sounds pretty cool, I have to see it sometime I wish we did something like that in England, but if we did it'd probably be shit so I'm almost glad we don't Thanks for informing me No problem at all! And yeah, we don't really have anything like it in Canada, either. We apparently have a pretty big Christmas parade in Toronto, but I've never seen any of it/heard much about it before, so it can't be that massive, haha. American Idiot in Macy's Day Parade. My Green Day-o-meter just broke. Broke 'cause of the high levels of total awesome and win? Or broke because of the high levels of ironic contradictory fail ...?
ParadoxAndPlaid Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Cool. I'll actually have something to look forward to this Thanksgiving. Y'know besides my step aunt accusing me of being on every drug ever, and calling everything I do a "phase". Any word on what song they'll preform?
GDM Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 American Idiot in Macy's Day Parade. My Green Day-o-meter just broke. Yea, the more I think about the more I'm with ya. It'll be ok, it's just a temporary breakage.
NothingButYourImagination Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Yay! I always get up to watch it anyways so all the more reason to now!
Peace and Rainbows Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Maybe i'll watch the parade, but it's kinda slim
EvanAsFuck Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Awesomeness! Gotta try to remember to watch this... Or at least glance over at the TV every once and I while to see if they're on yet... *Today's the Macy's Day Parade, the night of the living dead is on it's way...*
lizziebix Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 It's a Thanksgiving parade held in New York that is one of the biggest and the second longest running in the world. It's also a seriously 'important' American tradition to watch it on TV/go and attend the parade, which clocks in at three hours, and it's presented by Macy's, an kinda mid-high-end American department store. I gotta admit I've always loved it and I always try to catch at least some of it each year ... But to the dismay of my family, who all hate it and find it exceedingly corny. AAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD... Before the actual parade begins, in front of Macy's flagship store, usually the hottest Broadway shows perform. That's really the most important part!
TheSaltOfTheEarth Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Oh, that's pretty cool. Too bad Thanksgiving happened a month ago for us. the night of the living dead is on it's way...
norcalgreendayfan Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Wow that's pretty awesome. Kinda gives me a reason to watch it this year.
Mar Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Very cool! I'll still be on my Brandon Flowers concert high, and then I'll see this on TV!
plaid ducky Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Are they gonna sing anything?!?! Yes. They're not just going to look pretty on TV. Even if they're a very pretty cast. :eyebrow: They'll probably announce the song later.
Katherine Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Part of me REALLY wants to go down there and watch, but the other part is well aware of how crazy it gets. So exciting nonetheless!!
cityof_lust17 Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 I never watch but im def. gonna check that out then. They prob. wont play Macy's Day Parade...lets only hope they pick up on that and decide to.
mallorymaloney Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 Part of me REALLY wants to go down there and watch, but the other part is well aware of how crazy it gets. So exciting nonetheless!! If you have the chance to, go for it! If I lived in New York, I totally would.
Katherine Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 If you have the chance to, go for it! If I lived in New York, I totally would. I really want to, but not only does it get very crazy down there, I'm going to be spending Thanksgiving with my parents and brother, and the day before I have to drive upstate to pick my brother up from school, so I don't want to blow them off. :/
lizziebix Posted November 2, 2010 Posted November 2, 2010 It's not really the parade you'd want to see anyway. It's the preshow in front of Macy's. If you only want to see the AI Cast that is. And that starts much earlier than the parade. I don't know if they'll be actually walking the parade route or not. It's not typical. The casts just usually perform.
SixtiesJunkiie Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 very happy for the cast, they deserve it!
Spider Tre Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 i'll watch....if the band is performing too
Rage and Lillies Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Omg, just found out this is happening while I'm in NY. I'm TOTALLY gonna be there!
lizziebix Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 So has it been confirmed that they are on a float or performing before the parade actually starts? Anyone know for sure? Thanks. Just want to make sure I watch the correct part of the show.
gdpony Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 shit My school wont have a thanksgiving holiday, so I wont be able to watch this
