Ellenkc Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I didn't read that review about the cameras, but yea, i can just imagine after a while it getting to Billie. He's got a temper, that's for sure. It might have been the show before Peru, I'm not too sure. He sure does, I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of him
Rosie May Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I hardly think that is a fair comparison It's not really, but it's similar in the sense that it's someone you look up to and they do something stupid and you don't know how to feel about it. That's all I meant.
21 guns Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 On the other hand, who hasn't gone completely crazy at someone for doing something that made you mad? who hasn't said "I FUCKING HATE YOU AND IM NEVER SPEAKING TO YOU EVER AGAIN!!" ? And lets face it, the people to whom we say these things most, are the people we love the most and want to hurt the least. With the Kanye/Taylor incident, didnt billie joe say afterwards "we all say things we don't mean", so clearly he's not being hypocritical because Billie realises he does this a lot of the time too. It was wrong, no doubt about it, but it was human. and i'm pretty sure he must have felt like shit after the show when he thought about what he said.
Trotsky Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 It was wrong, no doubt about it, but it was human. and i'm pretty sure he must have felt like shit after the show when he thought about what he said. Why should he? Is it really so awful to vent anger? And like I said, he was trying to make an important point about the USA to his Peruvian fans.
warding_off_regrets Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I'm not going to bother getting too upset over this. Anyone who has listened to Platypus knows he has that side to him. Besides, getting offended over it would mean applying reason and rationale to something that obviously had neither- it was just an emotional over/reaction. You can't apply reason to that. We all say stupid shit in the heat of a moment and a lot of times we have to own up to it, so I'm curious to see if he does...though I'm guessing he probably won't. I definitely don't condone wishing death on someone, and I really think he needs a break, but I also think he's just human.
GDM Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I'm also going to take 2 guesses here, and the answer may be a combination of these. - He may have been a little drunk and therefore feeling a little more aggressive than usual. - Or, being in Peru, he perhaps was trying to make a point to the people there that all Americans are not spoiled rabid consumerist whores. I'm going with the, "it's altitude sickness" excuse, lol. At the Montreal show, I got so mad at this French-Canadian dude who told us, "if you can't stand the pit, you should just go to a fucking Bieber show." The people in the pit at Montreal were just assholes, some of them. In the heat of the moment, I turned around and said, "shut up, you fucking French asshole." this girl looked at me, and I apologized and she said, don't worry, I agree with you, but seriously, it's rare that anything like that comes out of my brain, let alone my mouth. Ah, the heat of the moment....
Princess Consuela Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I don't know why people think he was sorry about this. I highly doubt he regrets this or even realise how much of a big deal it's become.

Ah, the heat of the moment.... When someone almost slammed into my car yesterday because they tried to change lanes without looking, I think I yelled "Go get raped you inbred motherfucker". I don't know why people think he was sorry about this. I highly doubt he regrets this or even realise how much of a big deal it's become. Fast paced GDC thread /= international incident. Hahaha.

And like I said, he was trying to make an important point about the USA to his Peruvian fans. An important point that clearly a ton of them didn't understand? everyone needs to scream sometimes, and hell, he probably said exactly what he felt right in the heat of the moment, butI I seriously can't imagine Billie supporting what he said and feeling that this was a wholly appropriate afterwards. I would have hoped that Mike and Tre would have challenged him about this too.
Abbey. Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I don't know why people think he was sorry about this. I highly doubt he regrets this or even realise how much of a big deal it's become. but its not a big deal.
lawrahday Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I get billie being angry at people just filming the shows and not enjoying them, they totally ruin the atmosphere when they just stand there with their camera. However i don't like the cancer comment at all but i know its just another way of saying 'i wish he'd die' and it was a heat of the moment rant so i'm just gonna let it go. he seems pissed off lately even in that video of them arriving in costa rica (understandble though, it was 3am) but mike and tre were friendly. maybe he's upset the tour is over but he seems so like...restless or something . i think he needs a break for a while though.
Princess Consuela Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 but its not a big deal. This thread is a good proof it apparently is a big deal.
Trotsky Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Words give us an outlet for venting primal rage. Deep inside your brain, specifically, in your amygdala, in an aggressive animal ready to rip into the jugular of anyone who looks at you the wrong way. If no one ever said aggressive and vitriolic things, people would kill each other a lot more often.
Abbey. Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 This thread is a good proof it apparently is a big deal. 30 green day fans discussing it in a green day forum does NOT constitute a big deal.
21 guns Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Interesting point, whoever raised the Platapus comparison. It makes me think- how exactly is this different from that?
whatsername343 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Because people make it a big deal when it's clearly not and yeah it's pretty much the same as the whol platypus thing
21 guns Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 30 green day fans discussing it in a green day forum does NOT constitute a big deal. Let's face it, it would be if more people knew.
Princess Consuela Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 30 green day fans discussing it in a green day forum does NOT constitute a big deal. Fair enough. Though, not all of Billie's little speeches get their own thread and 30 fans discussing it. So let's say it's a big deal on GDC.
Trotsky Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Let's face it, it would be if more people knew. I'll call Fox News right away!
21 guns Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I wasnt around so i wouldn't know; did people get pissed over "i heard you're sick, sucked on that cancer stick.... / and now you're gonna die" ?
Bubbles. Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I seriously doubt he meant what he said about Steve Jobs, to me he just spat it out in the heat of the moment. I myself have been angry and exaggerated, or said things I really didn't mean, and I'm sure everyone else has. - He may have been a little drunk and therefore feeling a little more aggressive than usual. I was thinking it could've been a combination of this and what I just said.
21 guns Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I'll call Fox News right away! YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY
Radioactive1 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Let's face it, it would be if more people knew. It would. If someone like Britney Spears had said she hoped Michael Douglas died from his throat cancer there'd be UPROAR!
Trotsky Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Also, I contest the claim that knowing someone who has died of cancer makes any reference to hoping some motherfucker gets cancer abhorrent. My grandma and my 13 year old cousin both died of cancer. Steve Jobs however is not one of my loved ones, he's Steve Jobs, a greedy motherfucker who owns a company of immense power abuse who bribed the medical establishment with extraordinary amounts of money to get a liver he didn't qualify for. I wasnt around so i wouldn't know; did people get pissed over "i heard you're sick, sucked on that cancer stick.... / and now you're gonna die" ? OMG I'm a smoker and I'm offended, how could you Billie?!?!?!!?!
luvgirlcl Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 It might have been the show before Peru, I'm not too sure. He sure does, I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of him Nah, it was because of this specific show. I just read what someone who went to the show said, and you sort of get the picture: people barely knew the old songs, didn't enjoy it, took too many pictures/videos, if you add our favorite frontman's temper, you get an explosion of anger. I think that by American Idiot, Billie was very pissed off because people weren't enjoying the experience as much as they could, and maybe he had high expectations after the rest of the SA shows. He got angry and vented, and when you vent, you don't think things through, you don't filter, you just throw it out. I understand why he would get angry (seeing as they give everything and more at every single show), he's giving his all to the audience and they don't return it, it must've been frustrating. Not saying I approve the whole Steve Jobs thing, but I understand where he's coming from. And we're blowing it waaaaaay out of proportion.
