You know that quote about drinking before shows was taken totally out of context right? He was talking about during Nimrod/Warning times, not now. I'm sure they enjoy a couple of drinks before a show, but they're clearly not drunk on stage now.

LOL "Fuck MTV and all your bullshit"

> Green Day was on world stage thing for MTV

Sorry Green Day but you playing for 50,000 people on stage is because of MTV

No, I know they're not wasted up there and haven't done that for a while. But... he has said somewhere in an interview I watched recently that he will have a couple drinks before a show. So to me a couple drinks + bad day + specific incident = Billie Joe rant. I could be wrong, but that's just what I assumed :)

Either way, for whatever reason he did say it, I doubt he really meant it. He's also said he wants to have a million person sex party with everyone, but no one took him seriously then :shifty: :eyebrow:

Should this not be in the Lima, Peru thread? Granted, it did grab my attention to go look at that thread, but still...

^ So true!!

I was only joking... ;)

Haha OK :P

I just don't think alcohol had anything to do with it whatsoever, in any quantity. The highly-charged emotions of being on stage maybe, but a couple of beers (if he even drank anything), nah.

I hate this video. I hate it with a passion. I understand Billie not wanting people recording him for the whole entire show, I mean, I would be pissed too, but he crossed the line. I understand Billie's frustration with Obama, I never liked him and he hasn't done one damn good thing while in office. (Besides the whole killing Bin Laden thing.) But wishing death on someone infront of thousands of people that probably don't even know who Obama is? That's horrible. I bet atleast one person from that show went home thinking Obama was some murder because of what Billie said.

Billie wished that Steve Jobs would die of cancer. And what happened? Steve Jobs resigned from Apple. Why? Because of cancer. I know Billie will regret that speech (if he already hasn't) later in life.

I still love Billie with all my heart, I just think he needs to think what he says about people, expecially in foreign countries.

I totally agree with you.

I mean.. I can understand what he says but he should definitely think about what he's saying in front of so many people. And wishing someone death is something he'll maybe regret some day.

The fact people are backing him up in this thread is just as disturbing as the "speech".

I still think Billie Joe's pure rage was fucking fantastic; And my Mum just died of cancer a couple months ago.

... That should give the people who continue to be all Mr Sensitive about the video a bit of insight on their own opinions, haha.

For those who can't read between the lines, yes, I am indeed insinuating that you're a big bunch o' pussies.

It's not about being too sensitive or being a pussy. What he said was disgusting. I'm pretty sure all non-GD fans (with no bias) would agree with that. He called out two completely innocent Americans in a foreign country, saying one of them he wishes death upon. Being in a rage is not an excuse in the least and like I said, it makes me sick people are here making excuses for him.

Billie wrote Platypus about a real person who had cancer, who then died of it not long after the song came out. And then over a decade later Billie was calling that person a "fucking cunt" on twitter. So I doubt it.

What he was saying in his rant was that he hates Steve Jobs and his company. He lost his rag and said it in a very extreme and offensive way, yeah. But "wishing death" on someone doesn't put a magical curse on them or harm them physically, it's just a particulary nasty way of saying you hate someone. Maybe he'll regret getting angry and coming out with such a nasty insult........but he doesn't have any extra reason to regret saying what he said than if he'd said any other nasty insult. And if Steve Jobs dies of cancer he won't have any extra reason either, since expressing hate for someone with words has no effect whatsoever on whether they live or die.

Mallory I'm so sorry to hear that. So, so sorry for your loss.

I agree with you.

That's an awful speach, really awful. Jobs is a genius,he loves his job,he has been able to invent the all Apple thing (I bet Bj has an Iphone/Ipod what else too,as on Twitter he usually posts pictures that look like taken with an Apple item)in his house's garage. And it's not absolutely his fault the fact that the world has been always full of idiots who pass their life in front of a Tv/Iphone etc instead of living. Today,he is one of the most incredible brain that we have, and I'm very sad about his state of health, his die would be a heavy loss for the earth,so needy of this kind of persons nowadays. I really couldn't thank him enough for the all Ipod/Apple thing,he made my (and not just mine,I bet) way to listening to music so much easier and extended...I mean,I laugh in front of people like Bj that blame Jobs for people's bad habits. Jobs never said people should leave their lives for sitting in front on an Ipad all day. He has invented all the Apple thing for passion I think, and anyone who buy his items should be mature enough to use it with the sense of proportion. And I also think no one should ever hope in someone's dead,at least not scream it in front of thousand of people that listen to you like a living example or what else. Life is a precious thing,to all of us,and Billie should know this. I'm kinda disappointed,I must admit

I never once got the feeling he actually wanted Steve Jobs to die, period. It seems like to me, he was frustrated by the fact that he could see more cameras and phones then faces in the crowd, and well, he's never been one to keep quiet about something he's mad about. It's gotta be frustrating to be playing/singing your heart out while everyone in the first few rows are too busy focusing on how good their video is coming out. Was it a bit over the line to say? Absolutely. Did he actually mean it? I highly, highly doubt it. More of a way to hype up the crowd it what it seemed like.

I am aware of this. It's just.. I would regret something like that.

The rest is his opinion and he's RIGHT with what he's saying. That's what I think about it.

But wishing someone death goes too far I think. But okay, it's just to back up his opinion.

And it doesn't matter anyway

It matters a lot to me,instead. I mean,if he really means what he says, then he is not the person I believe he was. Then,if he says all this shit just for fun and for entertain the crowd,it's such an immature and ridiculous way to do it that really makes me sick. He has enough talent to entertain the crowd and assure his fans' affection without throwing around these malicious sentences.

I didn't mean the fact that he said it. I meant this senseless discussion about what everybody thinks about that. We can't change anything, it's past. I'm not happy about this wishing death thing. I'm really not. But what should I do?

I just think it's Billie Joe's opinion, he's right with what he's saying. Apart from the beginning. To me, that's morbid.

Absolutely nothing,as averyone of us. All I'd really like everyone to do,is not to let go by these kind of speech too easily just because he was in front of a crowd,he lost control of the situation and so on...and I think talking about this is not so useless,it won't change the past, that's obvious, but these are the kind of things I need to discuss with someone,as they make me pretty bitter,I'm kinda touchy,y' know =/

I understand what you mean :) And it's the same with me. I had to let off steam right away when I heard about this thing for the first time. I just don't want everybody to clash because of their opinions.

I mean.. he was angry, that's obvious. And when you're angry, you sometimes say things you don't really mean this way or you didn't really think about before. But still.. I think if you're in front of such a big crowd - you HAVE to think about it. =/

Exactly,Billie standing in front of a crowd (or writing on twitter, that's allmost the same situation),should feel more responsable than everyone else about what he's going to say,and he's old enough to pay more attention (even if,these bad things should never be said/written,neither in the young age, seriously or not) =/

I am kinda amazed that this rant by Beej was never picked up on and exploited by gossip websites or tabloids. Seems like something that would really harm his public reputation and image to the casual observer

Yep,I was thinking this too.

Yes, that's surprising.
