21 guns Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 oh snappp. it got out. and it was green day fan who posted it?!? why?? on the plus side, there's only about 8 people posting on there... and none of them actually seem to care... at least it's not on an apple fansite
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Well that sucks, that it ended up on other forums. Not very unsurprising, though. And they're right, the people. It is disgusting to say that. You don't wish that people die of a disease, period. And the fact that Billie's father died of cancer and he performed at a Stand Up To Cancer thing, isn't really helping the case either. The thing about Obama... can't say I'm too phased by that, Billie says he hates America or stuff along those lines at nearly every non-US show. And the rest of his rant has a good point. Technology is too influential on everything. Which sounds really hypocrite coming from me. But it's true. I had a whole lot more than this typed up, but then my browser was a bitch and I lost it all. I know I've ignored a couple things I wanted to say as well, but I'm too annoyed to type it all up again.
Tubbie Head Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 A mac forum posted about it. I REALLY hope it doesn't end up on a bunch of sites. Considering I found that link through a Google Alert, I'm sure this will give more eyes to it. http://forums.mactalk.com.au/8/94062-green-day-frontman-attacks-steve-jobs.html It's only going to make Billie look bad when more people start bitching about it. That's what I was afraid of..
21st Century Drum Player Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 oops, meant to press reputation down........dammit i wish i could've taken that back.... Reputation down for that??? Dude But other than that i am genuinely worried about Billie, Something must have sparked off what he did.
lawrahday Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 what he said was so horrible but it was just a mad heat of the moment rant (i know that doesn't justify what he said). he was probably sick of seeing a sea of cameras at shows and a bunch of blank faces staring at him. i think the band needs a break so its good (but sad) that the tour is over.
darenmay Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 well, i think if he said it in another setting, it could be worse. it was a horrible thing to say but it was all part of his speech about technology.
Tiffx Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 lol Billie, calm down. No but seriously, I think Green Day fans can be more understanding of Billie's outburst since we know he rants all the time. But other people will obviously take offence to his comments and that's totally understandable too. It was a thoughtless thing to say.
susanananananaa Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 If anything, this is a good thing. It's gonna show a ton of fans that he isn't this perfect god for them to worship, he's just a guy in a band. An awesome guy in an awesome band, but nonetheless. I concur.
dawn71 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Why can't everyone just let this go and stop adding fuel to the fire. We are fans of Green Day and all we are doing is raising more attention to this. It's done, it's over with, it can't be undone, now it's the past so let's all just leave it there like it belongs please. The more we talk about it the more we feed the anti- Green Day bashers out there. We all know what he said wasn't a nice thing to say and every word he said has been analyzed over and over again. Now it's time to move on. Lets not let one bad thing take away from all of the good things Green Day has done for all of us. Please I beg everyone to just let this go and stop feeding it. Let's all stop speaking about this and let it die and just move on, please......

euphoric-pareidolias Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Amen! Let's close this thread. exactly, like what he said was wrong but everyone says things they shouldnt and Billie is only human even though he is god to many of us but still. he said it, he cant take it back so now people should just move on and forget bout it..
Fuzz Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I'm not going to close the thread. We aren't adding fuel to any fire. It's on GDC, and I don't think we're the ones spreading it out there now. Thousands of people have re-posted to Facebook/Tumblr - closing this only stops the conversation here. I mean really, he said this in front of 10,000 people (or however many were there). If we put our hands over our ears and pretend it didn't happen doesn't really do much.
StevieT Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Well hes got a couple of years to think about what he said now
Maddy. Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 i think people are looking into this way too much leave the poor woman alone

I think everyone is entitled to their opinion on the matter so if you don't want to read anymore replies about it, simply don't come into this thread.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Well hes got a couple of years to think about what he said now He's not a kid who is sent to his room to think about what he's done or said

Princess Consuela Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 He's not a kid who is sent to his room to think about what he's done or said Exactly. I doubt he even realises that people made such a big deal out of it.
Isabel Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I don't particularly find the comment about Steve Jobbs as bad as everyone else thinks; we don't knowwhy he said it, it could have been something thrown out in the heat of the moment. And I think everyone can recall an occasion when they said something they later regretted. I do think the comment about playing longer if people put their cameras away was a bit much though, I thought it sounded arrogant and it felt like he was forcing his opinion on to the fans. I understand that he has a beef with technology and cameras at concerts, So I can only assume that the number of people taking photos at this concert was a hell of a lot worse than any other show. Still, I think it was a bit too intense and unfair to control the crowd like that. But at the end of the day, I don't love him because of his opinions about internationally acclaimed entrepreneurs and the changing role of technology in today's society, I love him because of the band he is in, Green Day. The nature of his, Mike and Tre's personalities is just an added extra.
