We were having a conversation, I thought. My bad.

Because you think the world revolves around you? Like I said, get over yourself. Apparently you are feeling something in order to think I was talking about you. And like I said earlier, if three people have suggested you calm down, we might not all be wrong.

Yes, T Ann, I am feeling something, because I'm a human being. That's what we humans do. We feel emotions. Just because you believe that you have to keep a tight grip on all of your own and never display anything other than mild indifference or lukewarm interest, doesn't mean we're all like that.

It feels good to let things go once in awhile, and I'm not sure you get this.

I meant that T Ann needs let go of her restrictive emotional reins once in awhile, Manda. Actually feel things instead of bottling them up.

NO ONE cares what Billie says.

Clearly.

I musta missed it.

Hahaha, ok, that's a good assumption. I guess I try and be rational. I have no idea where you are getting the mild indifference or lukewarm interest from, but if that's your perception, than that's your perception. And since you "know me" there's really not much to say. I get it. I don't deserve this opinion, but since it's yours, there isn't much I can do. I could rant and rave at you, but that would only make me look silly. I apologized to your earlier, when I thought I was having a conversation with you by Twitter. But apparently it's pretty hard to have a conversation with you due to your emotions.

Anyway, this was a great thread and a great conversation, despite what anyone may think of it. Good night, everyone.

Lame speech. Don't wish/want people to die.. Thats just stupid.

Thank god most people won't find out about this because that gives more ignorant haters more hate reasons.

Hit the nail on the head here.

I mean, I'm not ~offended~ or anything, I just wish he didn't say it. We can disagree with him saying things and think he went too far, but that doesn't mean that we have to hate everything he says.

Pro Tip: Half hearted apologies on Twitter don't mean shit if you unfollow that user you apologised to straight afterward, and then later continue to harp upon here on GDC.

And you need to work on your biting sarcasm skills. Once again, the only impression I'm getting out of your post is lukewarm interest.

When did I continue to harp on you here? I didn't mention you at all afterward. There was commotion in this thread that had nothing to do with you. I unfollowed you after you started in on Moffiee and AtChristieRoad. I am not biting, I'm just trying to be calm, rational, and indifferent. Probably lukewarm, too. I am not going to fall for your games. I'm pretty sure that after multiple pages of this thread, that anyone can see that there was commotion in it that had nothing to do with you.

I wouldn't go that far. They have been on tour for 1.5 years, who know if something else is bothering him or he's just tired and needs a little break - or if it's none of the above. I think it's silly for anyone to try and assume they know why he (or any other members) do anything they do.

Yes, you did. Twice. Once very shortly ago, and earlier today, just after you 'apologised'. Go back through the pages of this thread and check for yourself if you don't believe me, because I can't be bothered.

And again, if I'm wrong, how the Hell am I supposed to tell ...? You compared me to your estranged Mother the first time you ever spoke directly to me. Or is that what you say to everyone?

Well I don't want to make a huge problem of this. However I am disappointed with such an unnecessary and bad taste sentence given by Billie Joe.

This is not being punk, or rock n roll, or whatever. It's being ridiculous or silly, like a child. =/

Nobodies perfect & I know we have all been guilty at one time or another of saying something we may not be

so proud of or said out of anger. Besides none of us are mind readers. None of us know what Billie was

thinking at the time he said that. We certainly have no idea what he may be going through at this point

in time in his life. He may be having some sort of crisis going on in his life right now. Who are we to judge

him for what he said? We have no right to judge anyone, not even Billie Joe. Unless you are perfect and

have never done any wrong. I myself know no such perfect person. People in glass houses shouldn't

throw stones. Just leave the poor guy alone & quit judging him because you have absolutely no idea

of what may be going on with him to make him say those things. Everyone is so quick to speculate

and judge him. How about back off and leave him alone and let him sort this out for himself. The last

thing he needs is a bunch of fans talking shit about things we know nothing about. Billie has the

right to say whatever he damn well pleases and though you may not agree with what he says you

still have no right to judge him for it. Green Day has done so much for their fans. Billie's song writing

has touched so many lives, so focus on that and not the 1 thing that he said out of anger at a concert.

That's for him to deal with not us. I'm not directing this at any certain person. I'm saying this because it has

gotten so blown out of proportion and way out of hand and if you ask me we should all just drop this subject

and keep supporting Green Day like we always have, as their fans. Because the more we keep on about this

the bigger it gets. So please lets all drop this subject....

I do agree that its not up to us to judge him for one little thing he said in a moment of anger or whaetever else it was, and yes it's true that we don't know what made him say it. But Billie, or Green Day, or any other person in the public eye for that matter, knows that they have to watch what the say because there's always going to be people out there who idolise you and hang on every word of what you say. It comes with being famous.

I'm not trying to have a go at him or anything, though I do think what he said was a bit out of line, and yeah I'm sure we all say "Oh I wish so-and-so would just die" at one point in our lives and obviously don't mean it, but to announce it at a concert in front of thousands of people who are hanging on every word you say is a different matter entirely.

Since when did anyone in Green Day ever watch what they say? Trust me in the past they have said far worse things than he said tonight.

But anyway this is the last thing I'm going to say about this. I am going to lay this subject to rest like it needs to be. I hope everyone else

will do the same out of respect for Green Day.

I for one am not going to judge Billie for what he said about Steve. Though some of us think we may have an idea of

why Billie is mad at him but in all reality we don't. How do you know that Steve didn't say something nasty about Billie?

Also that doesn't really matter anyway because I am pretty sure that all of us have said something terrible about another

person because we were so pissed at the time. What's that saying, "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"

Besides we do not have the whole story behind it anyway. Actually we are lucky Billie didn't pull his pants down and

take a huge shit on the stage for all to see, or should I say for all to take a video/picture of. That is just how Billie is

& if you haven't learned that about him over the past 2 decades then you need to pull your head out of your ass and

join the real world. I am the same age as Billie Joe & I can totally see where he is coming from when he talks about

technology. When I was in high school we actually interacted with on another & called each other on a land line phone.

There was none of this internet chatting and texting. We actually had the balls to go up to the person and say what was

on our mind. Now a days it's like the world has lost the personal concept of life. If we don't like someone we just delete them

Also Green Day concerts have changed due to the technology. The band didn't change the audience did. When I was at their

earlier concerts people danced jumped around enjoyed the music and didn't have a care in the world when the band played.

Now it's all cell phones and video cameras & worried about getting a shot of certain songs. It's much more fun to let loose

& not have to worry or bother with anything else except for having fun and focusing your attention to the band. the music,

& having a blast. I myself stayed away from computers for a long time until 2 years ago when I had no choice but to learn.

I was forced into it because of banking, car insurance and other things you have to have a computer for. Technology has

even started affecting our health. Just look at the obesity problem in this country compared to just 10 or 15 years ago. It's

climbing at an alarming rate. Because we are playing video games and we're glued to our computer screens instead of going

outside and enjoying life. We as a nation have become so dependent on technology in almost every aspect of our life.

Where would we all be if it ceased to exist? We hide behind these computer screens like a shield I'm not saying all technology

is bad I'm just saying it is when it has consumed almost every aspect of our life. So, I very much understand what Billie means

when he talks about technology is fucking this world up.I grew up in the same time he did and I can see what it has done to

society as a whole. Back in the 90's when Billie used to look out into the sea of fans he would see his fans dancing & rocking out

like they didn't have a care in the world. Now he looks out and sees a sea of video recorders and phones. You can see the sea

of electronic devices when you watch any you tube video. But this is all just my opinion of this situation, as a person who grew up

in the same era of time as Billie did. Also back when I was a teenager MTV was about the bands and their videos. Now it's a bunch

of wanna be reality TV stars. If you want to see a music video on MTV you might catch a glimpse between commercials or you have to stay

awake until 3 or 4am to see one. MTV is no longer the music television it used to be.

Dawn......you always seem to say what I want to say only better!

I am around the same age as you and Billie Joe. My upbringing was very similar to his, which I think makes me able to relate to him. We come from a time and place where saying whatever the fuck you wanted was a right from birth. We were encouraged to express our opinions and it was ok to piss people off sometimes. I would hate to be a teenager now. No one is ever allowed to get mad anymore. If someone loses their temper, they need anger management. Ugh. People sit behind their computers having rational discussions. No one is allowed to say anything that might possibly offend another person. People kiss each other's asses because they might get deleted or even worse....*gasp*, negative rep.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just find it amusing that people are very quick to judge what they think is acceptable. There are some people that are sitting on some pretty high horses around here. We all have a different "line". I just don't think anyone's idea of line crossing should be imposed on another person's words. The only exception, to me, is if those words are directed toward you personally. If that is the case, then by all means debate away.

One last comment.....

Does this Billiegate scandal mean that El Presidente is going to be impeached? :eyebrow:

I'm finding it weird that he wanted Barrack Obama to win and all that. I remember when it was coming up to the election he sent all IC members (i think it was) a message saying to make sure to vote for him, but yet now hes saying he can go to hell. Maybe it was a joke or some thing.

Billie's "speech" wasn't politically correct and that's why everyone goes nuts?

He is not a saint, I guess it's time that some of the fans who adore him so much realise it.

The cancer comment wasn't necessary but he is not a politician, he is singer in a punk rock band, you shouldn't be upset about it at all

Posted

Over the top?!?!?! He wrote a whole ALBUM about hating a president! One sentence is not over the top.

I meant about his whole speech was a bit over the top..."DO YOU WANNA LIVE" screamed excessively.

Pretty stupid comments. I was going to put this up on GDA when I read about it - but after seeing it...nah. Feels like we'd be focusing too much energy on the negative for the sake of getting people to click though to the site, and that's part of the problem with media today.

As for what he said, the passion was good, but totally misguided. If he was actually annoyed at people for using their phones, he should have called them out - not Steve Jobs. His anti-technology rants seem a bit disingenuous. He uses technology, we all know he does. He uses a BlackBerry, who just recently agreed to hand over users personal data to countries like India, Saudia Arabia and the United Arab Emirates so they could 'keep tabs' on their citizens. That shit it way more over-the-top than anything Apple has ever done. Not to mention, I wonder how many computers (Apple or otherwise) the band use to create and promote their work.

As for not supporting Obama, that's fine - I just really doubt he has any level of reasoning that I'd consider fair.

I could care less if he apologizes to anyone. Steve Jobs and Barack Obama don't care.

Totally agree =)
