Blond-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Yay Billie-Joe shares my thoughts on Steve Jobs. Not so much Barack Obama but then he did vote for him.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Yay Billie-Joe shares my thoughts on Steve Jobs. Not so much Barack Obama but then he did vote for him. I feel that just because he voted for him doesn't mean he agrees or likes everything the guy does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPp1P_wTng4 this shows the rest of the rant at the end about when he started playing punk rock all the had was himself, his balls and his guitar and thats all he needs to be happy
Alan86 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I can't believe he said that about Steve jobs. I mean not liking him is one thing but saying you can't wait for him to die was a bit over the top. Even if Steve jobs did die the damage he has caused to the music industry is done, and if Steve jobs didn't destroy it someone else would have. The fact that he said dies of cancer was a bit tasteless too considering Billie just preformed at the stand up to cancer benifit gig over a month ago. I think this would fall into the catogory of Billie being very stupid and not thinking about what he was saying. Billie must have been really pissed off that day.
Micky Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Not nice at all. He talks about Steve Jobs as if he was a murderer or something. I don't think he did such a bad thing to deserve to die. On the contrary, he helped technology to make life better. Billie uses Twitter and computers too, now, he should just stop saying all those things, that speech is getting old
Vespertine Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Wow, die of fucking cancer? That's a pretty stupid thing to say.
mandajane Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 pretty sure billie has an ipod (or had one). when i met him back in 2006 he deff had one. lol i get what hes saying, about dieing in front of a fucking screen. we are starting to live our lives looking through a camera or screen which is kinda scary. but technology doesnt ruin EVERYTHING. i think green day uses technology when they record their music and play shows..... there is a point where we can take things too far with the technology thing. its all about finding that healthy balance. technology isnt the enemy, we are. its up to US how much we depend on it. page own bitchhhhhhhh
mallorymaloney Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Whoa whoa whoa whoa, Billie was PISSED AS FUCK during that song! I've missed seeing that uncontrollable anger. I love it, he needs to bring it out more often. Almost brought tears to my eyes with how much emotion he was packing into those screams. And everyone bashing him for saying all this ...? C'mon, guys, get fucking real. Don't you dare try and fucking claim that you haven't said a shitload of ridiculous --- Yet true, and you know it, deep down, that they're almost always true --- Things when you've been seriously pissed off. If he's a hypocrite, then so is everyone else on Earth.
GDM Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Don't you dare try and fucking claim they haven't said a shitload of ridiculous --- Yet true, and you know it, deep down, that they're almost always true --- Things when you've been seriously pissed off. If he's a hypocrite, then so are the rest of us. Calm down. I think people can have opinions as much as Billie, yes? Personally, the only thing I have a problem with is the Steve Jobs should die comment. I understand the sentiment, but I do think that is over the top.

Apologies, but I wasn't truly angry, just more revved up and ready to have a rant of my own after watching the video. I found it pretty Goddamn liberating!

Anja Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I wonder why he wanted the lights to be turned off during JoS
DecanoLP Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 We all know he is against technology. He is saying this since ages, especially during songs like "21st Century Breakdown" ('This is not fucking television, this is a fucking Green Day show etc.') or "The Static Age" ('No cellphones, no fucking television, no fucking internet. This is Green Day and *town* etc.'). He was really angry and agressive but saying Steve Jobs should die of cancer might be one of the worst and most unacceptable things he has ever said so far. He has to keep his mind and thoughts under control because this was bad...
Rosie May Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I can't believe he said that about Steve jobs. Billie must have been really pissed off that day. Yeah, I hate when he takes things too far like that. He uses technology just as much as the next person, I like that speech normally and I get what he's saying but I think the 1st 2 sentences in that were really stupid and unnecesary. *Sigh* I like happy Billie better then angry Billie.
lizziebix Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Sounded like he was equating Steve Jobs with technology. So if he were to die, Billie is saying technology would not be as advanced or would not continue to advance at such a fast pace. While that is probably a wrong assumption as there are dozens of others, if not more, capable and intelligent people out there advancing technology to ideas we haven't even thought of yet, Steve Jobs is not the answer to his dislike of technology.
Micky Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 C'mon, guys, get fucking real. Don't you dare try and fucking claim that you haven't said a shitload of ridiculous --- Yet true, and you know it, deep down, that they're almost always true --- Things when you've been seriously pissed off. Yes, but not in front of hundreds of people and cameras and whatnot (I'm talking about the Steve Jobs comment, which is a ridiculous thing, too) He should have thought twice before saying such a bad thing
Abbey. Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 but we wouldnt have vibrators without technology
Alan86 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 but we wouldnt have vibrators without technology Case closed, Billie is wrong Yeah, I hate when he takes things too far like that. He uses technology just as much as the next person, I like that speech normally and I get what he's saying but I think the 1st 2 sentences in that were really stupid and unnecesary. *Sigh* I like happy Billie better then angry Billie. He didnt even seem to be very angry, it just looked like he was having a bit of a tantrum on stage
Erica. Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 That whole speech is just ridiculous. It was completely unnecessary and uncalled for and just over the top. I'm all for raw emotion and anger and shit, but wishing death upon someone? Wishing someone to go to hell? Saying technology, probably one of the only reasons they're even on that stage, is ruining everything? If he wants anger, he's written plenty of angry songs he can perform. Unpopular opinion, but stupid speeches or rants or whatever just like this one were the worst part of both GD shows I went to. I like the music, and that's what I want to hear. I don't want to sit through some rant about how much the world sucks. In the time it took him to make all of these ridiculous comments, he probably could have played another decent song. I don't care how angry, pissed off, or emotional he gets. He has no reason to single out people who have never even done anything to him and wish death upon them, and he sure as hell has no reason to blame all of technology for the problems in the world. I still respect his music, but lately I'm having trouble seeing him as the same great person I used to see him as. We all say shit we don't mean sometimes, I get that. But he gives this exact same speech all the time, at every single show. Why that night would be any different, I don't know. If I find a reason to believe that Billie had a legitimate reason to say these things, maybe I'll rethink what I said. But after saying this so many times, he should have it planned out and memorized without having to call out certain people. And sorry if I don't make any sense, I just woke up.
nicicky Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 What he said was horrible, but I think he's only human and he just slipped up. He had a strong opinion and he took it too far in the moment, everyone makes mistakes. Maybe he should have remained more aware of the fact that he was speaking to thousands of people I hope he apologizes, but he probably wont.
LMC Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 I think this shows that even Billie can be the american idiot sometimes. This does not fall into the "Awesome as fuck" category. Not at all.
Rosie May Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 He didnt even seem to be very angry, it just looked like he was having a bit of a tantrum on stage I know, he must be getting a visit from aunt flow or something
shit Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Anybody else reminded of the speeches that crazy hippy on the sidewalk gives you, as you walk by?
