Opezi Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I just really like Kerplunk's version. That crapy old sound and the faster tempo, i just like it more this way.
oda Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 i like them both in their own way, but i think dookie version is my favourite.
xjernpqvrnbfv Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I prefer the Kerplunk version to be honest
Juliette Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Dookehhhh for reasons already stated. I still wonder why they chose to redo this song though.
Katarina. Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 The Dookie version for sure. It sounds much more.. clean. Better produced. Since it's not an option on the poll, I'd like to mention I prefer the live versions of Welcome to Paradise they've been playing this tour over any studio version
Holly Ann Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 The Dookie version. It's much more clean and the intro is better.
porksoda Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I love Kerplunk, and Welcome to Paradise has always been one of my favorite GD songs, but I really don't like the Kerplunk version at all. I think the Dookie version is better because it's cleaner, played better and kind of has this "Look how far I've come" attitude from it, something I don't think the Kerplunk version has.
bass boy Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Kerplunk version, cause its just so raw, which i like. But both versions are amazing, in their own sorta way.
Jacob. Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 The grainy quality, the bad mixing, and the the poor sound quality gives the Kerplunk! version a more energenic type of feel to it than the Dookie version.
luvgirlcl Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 The Dookie one. I like the more clear sound.
Gwen Stacy Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 Not much of a debate... but it's a pole!!
Stormy Haze Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Dookie, for the reasons everyone has been stating.
fadi_7 Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 i don't see any different between both of them but i voted dookie cause it's more clear it's like a remix to welcome to paradise from kerplunk
colour_me_stupid_ Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Dookie. I always skip the Kerplunk! one
AnnA™ Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Sounds a tad bit better on Dookie, for reasons most of you have already said; it has more attitude, it's more aggressive, which I prefer with this song. Always best live though.
Tubbie Head Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Kerplunk version, although I love them both <3 Mmmhh... Wait, I just thought of something I really love about the Dookie version, it has that kind of continuation with Chump... I love that while I'm listening to dookie, it's one of my fave bits of it, so I guess it is a tie. I prefer to listen to Kerplunk with it's earlier, not much edited sound. I still voted for Kerplunk's. The grainy quality, the bad mixing, and the the poor sound quality gives the Kerplunk! version a more energenic type of feel to it than the Dookie version. Yeah, that's what I think too =)
GDM Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Dookie... but this is my favorite Green Day song, so you can give me either version anytime time...
alligunn86 Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I love them both. The rawness of kerplunks version is awesome but then their is the clean version from dookie, I lean one way to another alot.. But I voted dookie
Hermione Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Bloody hell what is wrong with you people? Kerplunk version >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dookie version That rough sound, the little mistakes........it's just absolutely perfect for a song about moving into a squat as a teenager. It captures the feeling of the lyrics. "Cleaness" and "clearness" shouldn't have anything to do with this song, the essence of it is lost with the Dookie version. AND the Kerplunk version has those cool spooky noises in the middle. It's quirky and rough and ready and I love it
