craziestcatlady Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 My best friend, but she's just a casual listener. I was talking to her the other day about Green Day, and I realized she doesn't "get it". It made me sad, because it made me notice this huge gap between us, probably caused by her growing up in an intact home in a much more upper middle class lifestyle than me. It seems that GD isn't quite as main stream as some people grumble...
pasalaska Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 my mum - she's pretty into them now, she's seen them 3 times with me (in the seats while I was in the pit), her favourite song is Dominated Love Slave She wants to do part of the next world tour with me, and pretty much offered to take me to Japan to see them if they had gone there in 2010. But they didnt so poo them. My Mum Her wallpaper on her phone is Green Day, her ringtone is longview, she listens to them in the car, she downloads videos from youtube, she went to their show in perth, she knitted me a mike doll and a rev doll. My favourite moment was when she mmsed me the photo of the rev that she knitted, cause she couldn't wait till I got home to show me, and with the picture she wrote "it's fuck time!" your mum is pretty damn cool. That doll is awesome
dawn71 Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I guess I'd have to say my children. I brought them up on Green Day. My kids knew the words to Green Day songs before they were old enough to learn their ABC's. Green Day's music was a staple in our home. They had a roof over their head, food to eat, water to drink, clothes to wear, loving parents, and Green Day music. I just brought my youngest daughter (14 yrs old) to her 1st Green Day concert this year. It was cool watching her sing along to all of the older Green Day songs as well as the newer ones. A love for Green Day music is something I am proud of passing down to my children, and I hope to someday do the same with my grandchildren.
Leisha-LUNA Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 YOUR. MOM. ROCKS. That is so awesome. I want a Mike doll. Do you have a picture? Page own! she is pretty awesome. I posted a picture somewhere in the self-made band merch thread. Or, its here on my facebook
Punk-tastic32 Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 she is pretty awesome. I posted a picture somewhere in the self-made band merch thread. Or, its here on my facebook Wow! That rocks! Now I need to learn how to knit! xD
Laura! Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I got my one friend who just liked the older stuff to like more of their CDs. She went to the two Green Day shows I went to, that made her a bigger fan. My other friend who only knew 21CB, American Idiot and the singles from the older stuff. But I gave him most of their albums and now he likes them a lot more. I tried my friend from my old college, but she still won't have anything to do with them. She doesn't like it that they swear or pretty much anything about them. She doesn't understand why I love them so much.
Pedestrian9394 Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 My best friend. =D She barely knew who they were, but she bought me tickets to see them in Alpharetta this year because she knew it was all I wanted for my birthday. We went together and had an awesome spot in the pit. We could see everything, and were standing next to some really cool fans. After the concert, she was like, "Oh. My. God. That was the greatest experience of my life. We're doing this again." And when I got back to Wisconsin, she called me and asked me to burn all their albums and mail them to her so she could listen to them. Now she texts me almost everyday with her favorite lines from different songs. It's amazing.
Kayleigh. Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I have a 5 year old cousin named Ally. I was listening to Green Day with my headphones, so she comes in and says "Kay, what are you listening to?" So I take the headphones and give them to her, and she starts dancing to Jesus of Suburbia. Then after the song was done, she goes "MORE!" So I played her more. She'll ask for Green Day each time she sees me.
Robin105 Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 I got my brother into them. He's not a huge fan like me but he likes them. I also got my best friend into them. She even told me that when I first got into them she didn't like them but as I started talking about them and listening to them more she decided to check them out and now they are her favorite band and she loves Tre. I also got her into the musical and now shes coming in January to see it and she loves Michael Esper and she flipped out when I told her I mentioned about her seeing the play when I met him a few weeks ago. I love converting people to Green Dayism. Lmao sounds like a religion.
Rebel07 Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Of course I got my mom into them but I've also gotten my niece into them. She was 2 when I started playing them for her and now shes four and she LOVES them its so awesome.
Nimrod2309 Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 I guess I'd have to say my children. I brought them up on Green Day. A love for Green Day music is something I am proud of passing down to my children, and I hope to someday do the same with my grandchildren. Same here! And....I took my twelve year son old to his first his first ever concert this year, too. Green Day at Wembley Stadium! He loved it! So awesome to see him enjoying it as much as my hubby and I do!
Gwen Stacy Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 TRYING to get my sister into them. One day she was listening to some radio station and I went into her room and had her listen to all of Dookie. She loved it. But... she is still listening to Miley Cyrus. Any helpful hints on to how to blow the Disney Channel out her ass?
cityof_lust17 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 My boyfriend had been a fan but now I got him really into them, he signed up on the community, hes gone with me to the meet ups and now he listens to GD all the time when hes at school. Also my lil brothers and my mom
Jessayy Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Of course I got my mom into them but I've also gotten my niece into them. She was 2 when I started playing them for her and now shes four and she LOVES them its so awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2kANnM-el4 I think thats one the most adorable thing I have ever seen I only really got my mom and brother into them, I have tryed to convince on multiple occasions but considering they are hiphop/rap/onlystuffinthecharts/ type people, I accepted that its pointless
SixtiesJunkiie Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 A girl in HS chemistry class, Emme. She was talking about a concert that took place actually at the University I go to now. It sounded like an awesome show (Of course- they're the best band to see live!) It's been slight obsession ever since.
fadi_7 Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 almost everyone i know but not all of them became a huge fans some of them only know them or listen to few songs for them
clairex Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Well I have been listening to them for 15 years since I was 13 so my 8 year old daughter has been listen them her whole life and loves them too. She loves tre and wants to play drums like him even after I brought her a guitar. She has all her own copies off every single album. I haven't taken her to a show though as I like to be at the front in the pit which is not a good place for a 8 year old to be.
Burnout98 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 A lot of my friends... and my mum.. but my friends only know a few songs but i'm still happy they like them! although my best friend hates them.....i think he's just trying to piss me off.... :eyebrow:
